Professional, knowledgeable, and with reasonable prices. If what I am looking for is available there, that is where I will by whatever that is be it a game, movie, or accessory.

Rude and lazy employees in my opinion. I have a lot of grand kids that love their games. I live within walking distance but choose to go 5 miles out of my way to do my shopping!

rarely do you find game nerds that are proffesional and have exstensive knowledge. I brought my buddy to this hidden gem, and was very impressed with the overall experience. The two gentlemen working there Matt and Dakota were super helpful, we ended up spending 200 bucks on some rare titles and will for sure be back. This place is one of a kind.

This place is awesome. Have been a customer here for like 6 years and have always gotten great service and advice from the employees here. The owner is there sometimes and is a real cool guy as well. Lots old hard to find games and old school consoles here usually has a great stock of everything as well. Thanks gents keep up the great work and service!

This is the best place to go for your gaming needs. The service is always great, the return policy is better than other game stores, and the selection is great of course it is a used game store so you will not always find what you are looking for but you never know you may find something even better. I strongly recommend this place for repairs on systems, disk cleaning, returning games, and of course to get a new game you have never played or to buy an old game for nostalgia sake.

I wouldn’t go to any other place, the best selection in town hands down. Picked up several new games for my PS1 and will definitely be back, this is heaven on earth for bringing back those childhood memories… n64…ps1…I grew up on the early twisted metal games. If you’re a real gamer, you shouldn’t bother going anywhere else.

The staff is very helpful and they have a good selection of games. My husband prefers this place overall for games and systems.

This place is what it is. A used game store. The return policy on old school game console controllers kinda sucks. 3 day return window with the requirement of the receipt. I take careful care of my old systems, but these new aftermarket controllers suck (no business can do much about that and I am not holding them accountable for the quality of the controllers here) so the return policy could be a little bit more fair. The kid at the counter was pretty cool about talking shop with me and knew his stuff. There was talk of SNES emulator frame rates, but he tried upselling me a lot of different stuff I had zero interest or need for. All in all it was a positive experience. Their inventory did look a little slim, but that is the nature of old school gaming market.
So my quest for a Star Fox Cartridge continues.

Decent prices, the return policy is very strict, and the selection is okay. Been able to find more variety and deals online.

So, I’m in Sacramento, and I’m looking to get rid of a bunch of video games from my youth. I ask around, and do some Google-​searching and find FAIR GAME over in Carmichael.
I brought in a bunch of old PS1 and Genesis games and not only got a great deal on my cash in, but immediately fell in love with the place. MATTHEW helped me out, and flew solo, btw, handling my dragon’s horde of nostalgia, while skillfully and quickly helping out every other customer that came in. The dude is friendly, knowledgeable, and extremely passionate about gaming. The whole hope hums with a love of gaming. The place is a love letter. I took a look around and hung out for a bit while I was being helped, and I can’t believe that there is a game that you wouldn’t be able to find on the shelves. They have some truly rare gems. There was a call while I waited from a guy looking for Super Mario Sunshine, and they told him they’d keep an eye open for it and let him know if one found it’s way in.
It makes me really sad to know that this pace isn’t closer to my home out East, because they deal in current generation merchandise as well. SOO MUCH BETTER THAN GAMESTOP!!!
I can’t recommend this place enough.

Staff is super knowledgeable, thorough, honest and helpful! They buffer old discs for a good price. We have gotten countless games and several systems here. They also have a decent movie selection.

I love retro gaming. I prefer to play older games than most of the new offerings that game companies pump out. With that being said, Fair Game is built for gamers like me.
The store consists of a great selection of older games and accessories. My favorite purchases to date have been additions to my PS1 collection. The discs are flawless, and the cases are well taken care of. It shows that the store cares.
If you are looking for NES, SNES, SEGA, PS1, PS2 or N64 games, this is a good place to start. I highly recommend it.

Pretty great place for retro games. Love coming here every once in a while. Prices vary from stuff comparable to eBay or a little expensive (DQ IV for NES for $ 90 loose :-/​). They selection varies from console to console too (hardly any Sega Genesis games).
Knowledgable and friendly staff, they know their shit.

My kids love this place always got something worth looking at close to home.

I hate to give this place a 2 star review, but I feel like I should post some constructive feedback. The first time I visited this store was about three or four years ago. When I entered, I was floored by the amount of retro product available. They had boxes, memorabilia, posters, you name it! All kinds of classics existed at this shop and I was happy that someone was still selling them!
Flash forward to August 2015. Complete 180 degree turn. It seems as though the focus has shifted to the newer generation (PS2 — present). They had maybe 20 different NES titles and about the same of SNES. I couldn’t believe it, how could they have fallen so far from greatness? Not only that, but the prices on the games were ludicrous! $ 69.99 for a FF7 black label? 70 bucks for a Saturn? $ 249.99 for a Virtual Boy (as seen in the photos)??! These prices are almost double those of Ebay. I went in for a good deal, and a great selection, and unfortunately, received neither of these.
The good thing is, is that the customer service was awesome. Both employees were incredibly knowledgeable. I felt very comfortable there.
So my feedback is this, stock more retro and check your prices! I spoke with an employee and told him the place was empty and he informed me that customers weren’t trading in as much as they used too. That’s fine, go out and buy some lots of games! Bring in more retro product! If I wanted a new game I could head to my local Target, or Best Buy. I shop at Fair Game because I want retro games that I cannot find elsewhere. As for prices, check to see what price Ebay auctions are actually ending at (and even lower). I know that you aren’t even paying close to the price you are selling it for. Hook a brother up! Maybe I am just a niche customer, and I am the only one looking for more retro titles (Genesis, NES, SNES, Saturn). I always viewed this establishment as a retro gamers dream spot. Please bring it back to greatness!

It’s an intimate, privately owned video game store — how many of those exist in your neighborhood? Besides filling that particular niche, they have an excellent selection. Don’t listen to anyone saying they don’t focus on current gen enough. While the selection isn’t as healthy as that of a GameStop, they have plenty to make the trip worth it. I regularly buy my PS4 and Vita games here; in fact, I’m headed there now for Tales of Hearts R. And their prices will always be a couple of dollars cheaper (at least) than at competitors. Yes, they have lots of classic games as well. You’ll pay close to what they’re worth (no super low prices), but at Fair Game they just have a certain… reverence for the hobby of gaming. You can tell by the way they care for the games, and just by talking with staff. One of my favorite things about the store is that I never have to worry about buying a scratched game — everything is mint or near it. It’s the best place to go in Sacramento for a disc repair as well. I also appreciate that the guys talk to you like human beings — just conversation and friendly recommendations, no obnoxious up-​selling or elitism to worry about here. They’ll remember you when you come back and they recognize your individuality. Talk to Matt if you can, he’s solid, but you can’t go wrong with anybody really.

Cool game store. The prices on used current gen games seem a few bucks cheaper than GameStop. Plus we got some sweet deals on 360 games as well. The real reason I go is for the retro games. They have games, consoles, and accessories for it seems like every system from Atari 2600 to PS4. Plus this one dude was complaining about the price of N64 controllers and the guy working there popped off at em. That was thrilling.

After about 3 more visits from my previous review, I am very satisfied with every purchase I made and am proud to give this place a ⁵⁄₅ rating.
Since then, I was able to pick up rare titles such as Tales of Destiny II on the PSX, Fire Emblem Path of Radiance on the Gamecube, Metal Gear Solid Twin Snakes, and some other cheaper underrated gems that were somewhat uncommon.
Fortunately during my visits, my phone had some reception and I was able to accurately compare each of their prices to Amazon which seem to be below the average for each game.
Each game they sell usually includes a good to mint condition instruction booklet with the disc copy in a near mint condition while being $ 10-​$ 20 cheaper than buying a scratched disc only copy on the Internet. This is due to the fact that they have a $ 20k disc repairer machine that makes every disc like new.
So if you have any discs that have scratches or blemishes, they will repair your disc for $ 3.99. Though, one of the employees showed me that the machine does not repair blu-​ray discs as the machine somehow damages them for some reason.
The employees and the owner are very nice, knowledgeable, and take the extra effort to remember who you are to cater to your tastes in games.
Overall, I am glad that I found this place through Unilocal and am impressed with every purchase I’ve made here so far.
If I lived closer to this place, I’d ditch buying my games from any major retailers like lamestop and would rather support this awesome Mom & Pop shop.
*On a lighter note, I saw a copy of Sonic 06 on PS3 on their shelves. If you want to torture yourself, pick up a copy from there today!

This place is always fair on their prices just as their name states. Compared to any GameStop I’ve been to this place blows it out of the water both customer service wise and overall knowledge of video games in general. Their selection may be smaller but that is to be expected seeing how small this privately owned establishment is. This plus the great prices are what make it my go to video game shop.

A great place to get all sorts of games and accessories.
This is actually a REALLY good place to pick up old controllers, as they are in amazing shape and MUCH cheaper than you could find on the internet.
I bought a used PSP game here. The person working noticed that the UMD casing wasn’t in the best of shape. He replaced it right there in front of me for free. Most other places would have tried to charge me for it, or upsell an insurance program.
As much as I can, I plan on making this my go to game store.
