Worst service I have ever experienced at a dealership. Four weeks of excuses, and no return calls. This will be my last transaction with Michael’s Cycles

If your looking for a dealership to be fair with you this is not it. Deceptive and have no interest in doing anything other milking you for everything you have. Service department is decent but the sales floor is horrible.

If you’re looking for a dealer who will take care of you after you purchase two 18,000 RZR this is NOT the place to go.
1. I took my RZR in because I had a warranty on it and it had some serious issues. I pulled it onto the flat bed and something fell off, it was a couple screws that never got screwed back in. I thought it was just a mistake and than I saw my fenders flapping in the wind about to fly off. At this point I didn’t think anything else could go wrong more than it already has, and than it was still running weird when I pulled it into my garage that night so I had a technician come to my house to look at the work they did (Michaels). As he was taking it apart, he noticed the pistons that were supposed to be replaced were UNTOUCHED Not only did they LIE about fixing the things on my RZR but they also charged me 1,400 dollars.
2. I took my other RZR in because it had some weird sounds coming from the bottom. They couldn’t figure it out had it for a week and didn’t do a dang thing. I heard there was a recall on RZR and asked if mine was it they lied to my face and said it wasn’t. Latter that week I called Polaris to complain about my experience and they told me I did have a recall and my dealer knows and should have sent me a letter in the mail. Nope, they never did and I live 3 hours away, to see these jerks. I had to have Polaris personally call another store in Reno Nevada because the recall period was already over, so I was going to pay out of pocket, because Michaels lied and told me I didn’t have one. I have called management and they don’t care this is only two out of various times I have had a terrible experience. I learned my lesson and will never go to this place again I highly recommend buying from somewhere who cares about the customers, and this place cares less than 1%.

After everything I have been through with these jerks I found another problem.
The salesman told me the bike would be supplied with a brand new battery when I purchased it. I noticed the bike had been running weak and the gauges started flickering on me. I removed the seat and seen the battery WAS NOT NEW! It even said 954 on it so they new which bike the battery went to. I took it to a REAL DEALER in sacramento and they said it had a dead cell. I bought a new battery and boy did the bike turn into a whole new animal. Michaels sucks and so does the entire crew. Watch out, they will tell you anything to get your business and get you to leave without helping you out!

Multiple bikes came back from repair shop with loose hoses or no liquid or just hadnt been tested before return to owner. Although good parts store and lovely inventory

We were stranded on Hwy. 50 with a blown rear tire. These guys came and got us and had us back on the road. Couldn’t have been more pleased with our experience. Many thanks to the staff.

I went to MCW to purchase a Yamaha side x side this morning. I’m pretty sure we were the only customers in the building. The other ten to twelve people were either intently staring at a computer screen on their desk or counter and the rest were talking while setting up or adjusting displays. An older lady walked right past us and into an office marked «F and I» without a word or smile.
My wife and I walked the entire store for ten minutes often times within two or three feet of store staff without ever being acknowledged in any way.
Before we left we easily overheard one male employee tell another «we can’t understand why we are losing market share». At least we got a good laugh for our time spent there.
Going to Reno tomorrow to make our purchase.

Recent purchase of a pre-​owned XT250. Well treated by everyone. Quick response to a recall fix. Everyone I talked to was helpful and friendly. Would recommend to a friend. Better than many dealers I have known in the past.

Last year they ran me through the mill with my tires. First they ordered the wrong tires, then said I brought the tires in. Very incompetent staff… or at least the ones I worked with. Never again!

Ive attempted to purchase products here for over a decade. I hated their service then and now its worse. They stock a crap selection. They dont have simple items like Motion Pro cable lube. If you have to order a oem part (which you will have to order it because they wont have it) its a minimum week away. Whats the point of that? I can do that on Amazon. My last attempt at spending money here was when I was looking for a clutch lever. As soon as I mentioned it was a BMW the hobbit behind the counter copped an attitude and said «oh well we dont have any street bike levers.» Yeah hobbit. Its a dirt bike. Oh well we still wont have anything to fit it. Listen hobbit, BMW doesnt make levers, they fit many applications. He didnt want to help, didnt care. I went to KTM where Craig was super helpful, he even ran out to my bike to see who makes the levers. I will always go back to KTM. Why go to a store where you feel worse than when you went in. There have been more than one problem with their parts guys. Serious attitudes in there. Never going back. I will go to KTM or Reno Yamaha/​Honda. No more hobbitudes for me.

Terrific service center! Harry in service was friendly, courteous, and very knowledgeable. He went out of his way to make sure we felt special and validated. He was very thorough and explaimed everything in full detail.
The facility is clean and the products are reasonable. I will be back!

I have taken my jet ski here for service the past 4 years (why they got two stars instead of one) This year I called to set a date to bring it in and was told they do not set dates in advance anymore, «just bring it on in.» Imagine my surprise when I get there, and they tell me they no longer service watercraft, at all. The service person seemed less than overwhelmed when I told him I had just called thirty minutes earlier and was told to bring it in. Keep up the good work and customer service to your repeat customers!

Nothing about the dealer but beware the polaris side by side only has a 6 month warranty mine is 9 months old with only 70 hrs on it and already having transmission/​clutch problems. we didnt abuse it. but the dealer is great customer service and parts

i ride an 06 klr and was on my way from salt lake to san fran last week when i popped my chain off, ripped up my sprocket, and chewed through the wires that run into the stator. was by berlin-​ichthyasaur state park, did a quick field-​repair (zip ties and a stick!) so i could limp to carson city. took me till i blew the chain completely to figure out that you DO need those guides on the swing arm to keep the chain and the tire from getting too close. got AAA to take me to mikes, had a tire for me and a chain ($ 220, i think). i sat down in their parking lot to try to mount up the new parts, and before i got the back wheel off a guy named terry came out and offered to let me wheel the bike around back where they (AFTER HOURS) mounted my wheel on the rim. turned out i single human being cannot mount an anakee by hand. took three guys and a press, but they did get it on their and i was back on the road in less than two hours after i broke down (counting the tow). didn’t even charge me the $ 75 to mount, gave me some pointers on maintenance and were cracking jokes while i waited. i read some of the other reviews up here, and my experience was most like the other guy on a dual sport. i’ve never had an interaction like this at a bike shop anywhere in the country. so rad. the guys writing negative reviews about mean financing guys and stupid fees, yeah i get it. that used to piss me off too, but sometimes i think that just comes with the territory. guys in bike shops are guys in bike shops. i don’t go in there looking for hugs and dollar off shipping. i go in there for guys that know what it’s like to get stuck with a problem you can’t fix on your own, and guys that can get you riding again asap. sure the customer is always right, but sometimes the customer is also a clown. yeah, sure moto-​techs can be a little cocky (if that is what some of the negative reviewers are responding too) but whatever. they do (or should) know more than the joes that walk in there, and they should be allowed to tell you so. as far as other shops (in utah, and back east) these guys are way mellow.

Back in the day, when I first got my KZ1000, I remember dealing with Nevada Motorcycle Salvage, and a couple of scary-​looking biker dudes operating out of an old storage-​unit-​turned-​cycle-​shop. They were honest– often brutally so– sold stuff at cost or with enough markup to make a buck and keep the lights on, and did good work. They didn’t care what kind of bike I had, as long as I was on two wheels.
I know Michael’s cares about what brand I’m riding, because they don’t service my brands, and are brutally honest about that, too. And, therefore, they don’t want to touch it, even for simple repairs, tune-​ups, or whatever– even though the engine on my quad is made by a company whose quad they sell.
So, they’re as useless to me as a kickstand on a submarine, unless I need some kind of generic stuff like a tire or something. No, that’s not a good example, because I’d have to put it on myself. A pair of goggles. There, that’s better.
So, I only use Michael’s for little piddly generic stuff and haul my bikes and quads elsewhere for service when they need it. And, I only use them when I need something right away, because on this kind of thing, mail order and shipping is usually cheaper.
So, that’s not much of a recommendation, I’m afraid. On the plus side, they’re friendly and attentive once you get their attention; I’ve never been assaulted inside the store; and their inventory seems to be adequate for what I need.

I bought a new Polaris ATV from these guys two weeks ago. I live in Carson City and simply wanted to keep my business local. BIG mistake. The sales staff was arrogant and condescending, finance staff was pretty much the same… parts dept, same… service, same. There was no delivery orientation, no Polaris parts offers, no service offers… hell, they didn’t even put gas in it! They just parked it out front, handed me the keys and said, «It’s out front.» That was it!
I learned a huge lesson from this dealership. Service is EVERYTHING. Next quad I buy will be bought from ANYWHERE BUT HERE…

They have the worst after sales service imaginable. I bought two jetskis and they got the VIN wrong on one, which led to a nightmare to straighten out with the DMV and insurance carrier. They were of little or no help solving this and didn’t really give a crap. They can sure cash and clear a check quick though. Having bought in Nevada, with registration in California, they dragged their feet with all the docs, including certificate of origin and smog certs. Again, after the sale good luck.
They don’t follow through on commitments; great and friendly up to the sale, don’t know you after.

This place sucks. I bought 2 jet skis here and the second one has been a nightmare. They are not equipped to handle big repairs. I called the Yamaha warranty customer service dept. and they said the top rated mechanic is in the bronze class.
Save yourself the grief and go somewhere else.

This is a big ass store, and they carry Kawasaki and Yamaha motorcycles, many brands of ATVs and side-​by-​sides and skis and probably snowmobiles. Seems to be a good selection, although I really only know about bikes.
And now, the terribly exciting story of why I’m reviewing a bike shop in a state I don’t live in.
On the way to Reno the other day from the bay area, I picked up a nail. Usually this means I have a flat in the driveway where I can fix it, but this one made itself known about 10 miles past South Lake Tahoe when my bike started handling like a vintage tractor. That’s not so bad if you go slow, so I figured why ride back to Lake Tahoe when I could just go to Carson? It’s not that far… 15 or so miles later the tire was completely flat and hot to the touch and I’m wobbling at 20 MPH in the slow lane trying not to get killed. I was damn glad to see Carson. Asked a friendly LEO (yeah, weird right? NV is a different place) where I could find a shop and he pointed me towards Michael’s.
They were really cool and got me back on the road with a tube change, quickly (really quickly for it being lunch time!) for like $ 20 in labor. Parts guys were cool, shop guys were cool. Just a good group of guys, from my limited experience there.

«That’s how those dualsport guys roll.»
Well, the real dualsport guys probably have a damn tube and little titanium tire spoons and more skill and patience than I do. But I appreciate the sentiment, I think.
