Rich’s Mobile Detailing

Very disappointed with poor service and bad attitude.
I have used this service before and they did an okay job on my car. I called earlier in the week (Wednesday, I think). I accepted the first appointment for Sunday at 1pm. At about 1:30 I called the owner b/​c no one showed up. He told me he was horse riding and couldn’t do anything but could call his guys in 20 minutes. He sounded very annoyed that I bothered his horse ride.
After about 2 hours he called me to say that his guy was not going to show up. Then he offered to reschedule. I told him that I changed my plans for Sunday to be available so I was not happy. I asked if he would be willing to offer me a discount. Before we could even discuss, he said no and hung up on me. SO RUDE!
Although I wanted to be a repeat customer, I will find another detailing service to use from now on.

Called to get an estimate and wanted to talk about him doing work for me on a regular basis with multiple jobs. He was so rude on the phone. Very short, had a «holier than thou» attitude and zero customer service skills. One of those guys with a jaded «shop» guys. Needs to be working in the shop not talking to potential clients. I will not be working with him.

I tried to contact you through your website but it errored out every time. I don’t want to call because I don’t want to reach the lady I’m complaining about. I just think you should know that one of your drivers in Gardnerville is rude on the road and apparently not knowledgeable on traffic rules. This morning, a lady with blond hair driving a Rich’s Mobile Detailing car was in traffic near the Carson Valley Middle School. She was stopped for a lefty, I was stopped for a right. When it was clear (this kids exited the cross-​walk) I started to go but so did she. I allowed her to continue although it was my right-​of-​way, since she had already hesitated impatiently as children crossed. She sure was pissed at this «inconvenience» of having to apply her brakes over her own mistake and scowled at me through the windshield and mouthed some nasty words. There really isn’t time for petty fights like that with students crossing in every direction. I wouldn’t want anybody with such a nasty attitude touching my ride, or driving near my pedestrian children. Please warn that driver about following right-​of-​way rules, keeping her temper down while behind the wheel of a company vehicle (advertisement), and practicing due care in a school zone while children are present. THANKS!

Made appointment for detailing (interior and exterior). Spoke to Rich Wontorski (owner). To youngsters showed up on time, bragging that it was their second day working for the, and that the owner had allowed them to drive the company vehicle. Arrived with itinerary/​checklist of what was to be done. Called it a «minie det», meaning mini-​detail, remove sap, then wax and seal, touch up paint. The low estimate $ 150, High $ 175, trip charge $ 20.
The interior detail was only marginal at best, because all interior windows were smeared, however I did not get in the vehicle to drive it immediately and only noticed after they had left. They did not remove the sap before waxing and sealing, also something I did not realize because of the lighting under the trees. Because of the non-​removal of the sap and then trying to wash the windshield, my windshield was scratched and now must be replaced. They never asked for the touch– up paint.
The detailers were Alex and Kelsey. I paid by check a total of $ 170 and gave the kids a 30 dollar tip in cash. When I first drove the car I noticed how smeared all the interior windows were. and also then became aware of the scratched windshield. Also, upon walking to my car I noticed all the sap that had not been removed but had been waxed an sealed over. I immediately called Rich, and he promised that he would refund the tip, the trip charge, and half the total cost of the detailing, and would redo it himself, he also stated he would not cash my check till the car was to my liking. He told me my «only» option would be to drive my vehicle from South Lake Tahoe, to his home in Carson City, to redo the detailing. He was rude, aggressive and threatening, and I did not feel comfortable with the discussion.
I immediately called my bank, and payed a $ 35 dollar charge for stop payment on the check. Obviously, directly after we hung up, he went straight to Wells Fargo and cashed the check at the drive up. I then had to call High Sierra Detailing to strip the wax and sealant, so the sap could be properly removed and then have them redo my car.

Rich’s associate worked on my car. He did a good job, but was slow to start and then in a big hurry to finish, leaving a lack of attention to detail. I give 80% to an excellent job and 20% disappointed.

Got a gift certificate for my mom and her car. Rich and his crew drove way out into the boondocks to do this job.
Mom knows clean, and she was impressed. She writes in her thank you note,“They came for more than 3 and a half hours, and you won’t believe the job they did– it’s a miracle! I’m tickled pink with the results.“
When Mamma happy… everybody happy.
