Dr. Terry has been providing quality, personalized detail care in Castro Valley for over 25 years. He has been at his current location, which was custom built in 1999.

Business Owner

Dr. Michael Terry was born in Southern California. He has always enjoyed working with his hands and had an early interest in health care. The interest in dentistry for Dr. Terry began while he was still a teenager. He graduated in 1980 from California State University of Fullerton with a degree in Biology. When he then recieved his docterate in Dentistry from the University of Southern California (USC) in 1984, he moved to Castro Valley to set up his dental office. He has enjoyed providing high quality, personal care to the comunity since then.

I’ve been going to Dr. Terry for years with fairly usual dental issues and have always had a positive experience with him and his staff. Recently I found myself having to figure out how to save my two front teeth. There were a lot of different challenges involved due to previous old dental work done (not Dr. Terry) and weird hereditary dental problems. Dr. Terry went out of his way to work with other specialists on his own time to try to get me the best possible outcome. What he came up with was truly remarkable – life-​changing. Whether you’re needing complicated cosmetic procedures or just routine care, I can confidently recommend Dr. Terry. You will not be disappointed.

Dr. Terry, his wife and staff is wonderful. Our daughter (8) looks forward seeing him. He is calming and encouraging. We strongly recommend Dr. Terry. My husband broke his tooth and since the repair, there’s been no problems for him.

Dr. Terry and his staff are excellent, and I highly recommend him. Late in life I needed braces put on, Dr. Terry worked with my periodontist and orthodontist to make sue I got a great result. He has handle my simple and difficult dental challenges with skill and confidence. Once on the day before Christmas he answered an emergency phone call of mine about an abscess tooth and got me the antibiotics that saved my Christmas. He is the best dentist I have ever been too.

Dr. Terry was referred to my wife and I by a good friend of ours after moving back to the Bay Area from Albuquerque, and I am glad we decided to go with the suggestion.
My wife and I moved around a lot in the last 15 years so we have seen plenty of dentist. I had become accustom to the fact that whenever I was going to have any type of work done at the dentist, whether it be cleaning, fillings, or anything else pain of some sort was going to be involved. Well, I can honestly say that this was the first time every in my life that I have had everything from cleaning to a full on root canal (something that should not have been needed if my previous dentist had done their job) and never felt any pain. This was the first time I was never stressed going to the dentist and that is a amazing feeling to me.
Dr. Terry is very knowledgable and actually use to teach at a dental school. He was very straight with me about what needed to be done and never pressured me into having procedures I do not need right way. He is very easy to talk to and his many concern was how I was do before, during, and at the end of the procedure. On top of all that he takes great pride in making sure his work is well above standard and is done correctly.
I am definitely going to recommend him to my family and friends.

Dr. Terry is the best dentist in the entire state if California, he is kind, gentle always explains what procedures need to be done but does not pressure you into performing them if you are unable to. He is extremely accommodating if you have fears or issues that need extra attention. During procedures he is always explaining what happens next and what to expect. Dr. Terry hires wonderful, kind people, especially Karen his hygienist who is kind, easy to talk to but also can multi task and get you in and out of the chair in no time. Sue the receptionist is the sweetest woman ever, always kind and considerate, asking about your family and how you are doing. I would rather go to the dentist than any other physician. I wish I could give more stars.

I’ve been going to Dr. Terry since I was 7! All of the staff are very personable and professional. They remember me every time (even when I hadn’t made it in to get a cleaning in 4 years!). I love how they explain everything to you and make you feel like one of the family. If you’re looking for a dentist that you can trust and feel comfortable with I would highly recommend Dr. Terry! You won’t be disappointed!

My parents have been seeing Dr. Terry for 20 years. I take my elderly mother there for all of her visits. After my long-​time dentist retired, I decided to go to Dr. Terry.
Simply put, Dr. Terry is a no-​nonsense dentist. He is conscientious, calm and CONFIDENT! Most importantly, he is the most skilled dentist I have ever had work on my mouth (including my previous dentist whom I adored).
His staff is FABULOUS. Sue, his front office secretary is warm, caring and friendly. I absolutely adore her. His hygienist is like a ray of sunshine.
Dr. Terry is not a «preferred» dentist on my dental plan. However, because we want to have the BEST dentist out there, my husband and I are willing to pay the percentage our dental plan won’t cover.
And a side note… recently, one of the dental assistants who worked for my previous dentist came to work for Dr. Terry. She was quite surprised to see how calm I was during my dental work with Dr. Terry. I was never calm with the other dentist. My new found «peace» is due to the way Dr. Terry handles himself when dealing with me.

I moved to the area and drove past Dr. Terry’s office every day and that is how I found him. He is only the third dentist I have ever had in my life and I am glad I made the switch. Not only is the staff wonderful, but he is a very conscientious dentist, mindful of my insurance benefits, and just an easy-​to-​talk-​to type of guy. He also does excellent work. I brought my 3 year old there for an introduction to what its like to go to the dentist and he was also very good with kids.
There was one hygienist that I thought was too chatty, but I don’t think she is there anymore. Dr. Terry’s wife is also a hygienist there and she does a great job. I will definitely stick with this place. Great for the whole family.
