Interesting little joint on the main street in Cayucos. They have both Mexican and Italian food, which seemed a little strange, and we went with Mexican as that seemed to be the main strength based on other reviews. Portions were huge, and very tasty! I had a burrito with asada, and my wife had the chicken enchiladas. Both were very good, and we left stuffed! A little pricey for what it is, but you definitely won’t leave hungry.

Lacked much flavor. Steak fajitas had too many peppers and not enough meat. Frijoles were decent, rice was just ok, chips tasted store bought, salsa was ok, service was good. Price was appropriate. Stick to Shantys where we are twice and loved it. We tried to mix it up and ended up regretting it. Not bad, just not great.

Came in here for a quick bite. Service was good and food came fast. I’m not 100% sure about a place that serves pizza and Mexican but it worked out for me with the Mexican. Delicious chili verde burrito, the beans were outstanding as well. Nice hot, home made salsa too!

They charge for extra chips! At a Mexican restaurant!!! Talk about nickel and diming! And they don’t tell you about extra charges. Not very customer friendly here. Rethink customer service and value, owners.

Such a golden gem; my hubby and I adore this place and it’s local, which is rare to find a treasure like this in our small ‘lil town! We were beyond skeptical to venture out and try Italian food here but I gotta tell you, it’s as if you have stepped right into an old rustic Italian restaurant! The pizza is incredibly delicious, although personally I prefer a little more well-done, which you can request upon ordering. Grab the side salad with your order as it’s flush with veggies galore and big enough for 2 people; very satisfying. We are quickly becoming regulars and pretty much bet you will too!

Stopped in for a late lunch on a Saturday and the place was pretty empty. Ordered cheese enchiladas and found them to be very good. Service was very good as well. I will go back next time I am in the area.

Delicious Flautas and good salsa with a bit of a kick. Waitress was polite and helpful. Food came out quickly and I would go back again. Small quiet place.

Wow, honestly wasn’t expecting too much, just looking for a bite to eat, but the food ended up being awesome! The pasta was lovely, melt in your mouth. Usually I like a lot of sauce, but the sauce was perfect even without a ton of it, paired very well. I got the meat lasagna, it was delicious! It looked just as good as it tastes. I’m not huge on lasagna normally but if it all tasted like they make it here, I’d get it all the time. Really recommend checking this place out, prices aren’t too bad(but of course aren’t fast food prices) but are well worth it. We all loved our food, and the customer service was good too. Can’t complain about the portions either, I’m stuffed!

Well made mexican food. More like a Cal-Mex than genuine Mexican from the interior. Nevertheless, it is tasty and well made,. The service is attentive and friendly. I love the chili verde breakfast. Chilaquiles are excellent. I really like this place. I would recommend it highly.

Only okay. We were here for dinner and we all stuck with the Mexican side of the menu. The salsa was good, the chips… not so much. The salad that came with the meal was fresh and had lots of vegis, but the entrée seemed thrown together. Although the waitress was clearly worried about the steaming hot plates, the entrée itself was barely warm. Stick with the Sea Shanty.

I order the tamales with chicken tortilla soup, seriously to die for! By far one of my favorite new to me places. Good food, good price, good people.

I thought it was a bit pricey, but the salsa was good. Didn’t really like the fish tacos, but maybe just my own tastes. Had good service, friendly wait staff. Margaritas are made with wine, which is a bit different, as they don’t have a liquor license.

Ordered the fish tacos thinking they would be fresh fish being in the ocean. Not so fresh and the skin was still in the fish. Service was nice. atmosphere was clean.

My wife and I arrived at 4pm on a Saturday, and only one other table was occupied. We chose a booth next to a window. The décor was surf-Mexican, an interesting mix. It’s clean and comfortable. The hostess was our server. She was adequate, but not at all animated. Other reviews speak of gregarious servers; she didn’t waste any words. Boring, basically, but she managed our orders, etc, fine. Food was just average. I ordered taquitos & my wife had a pinto & cheese burrito. They were ok, but just not a lot of flavor. The meat in the taquitos was bland, and the guacamole was boring. I don’t mean lacking in spice or heat; there just wasn’t any flavor. My wife dumped copious amounts of hot sauce on her burrito for the same reason. I overheard the server tell another table that they only make a wine margarita with agave; really? A Mexican place with only one kind if margarita? This was our first visit, so we might give them another try. I was disappointed, but the other reviewers are so positive, we’ll have to go again to see if this was just an off day.

This restaurant has a lot of heart and is clearly adored by locals. The waitress and cook are friendly and engaging with all of the customers, especially the regulars. And the food is decent. But just not«wow». I hate to give this place an average review because it was one of the most welcoming establishments I’ve been to in Cayucos. You can feel the love and caring! Like being at a friend’s house. But kind of average food. You won’t be disappointed by your food but you won’t leave raving about it.

We came here on a Thursday night for some food. The hostess was the waitress, which only happens in the smallest, cash-strapped restaurants. There was another waiter as well. The restaurant is setup really weird, kind of a lounge(high tables/chairs) and low booths and tables. It was odd sitting at a low table because you’d look«through» all the empty high tables to see other patrons or the waiter. After ordering, the food was expected, it kind of had that frozen food quality. I don’t know what else to say about it. The food was quite bland and was missing that«something special.» The central coast is missing is a *really good* Mexican restaurant. There are many great Mexican restaurants in the Bay Area and LA, but nothing in the middle. After visiting, it is *still* not there. This restaurant is kind of weird, a mixed Mexican/Italian restaurant and unfortunately, they do not do Mexican well. Nobody ordered Italian, so I cannot base this review on that. The prices for the basic dishes were kind of on the expensive side. I guess you expect that in a coastal restaurant… It’s weird that most restaurants in Cayucos close at 9PM. I guess the town is all retirees and they go to sleep by then.
