Seaside Motel

They were remodeling and there were construction workers on site snd staying there plus homeless people lived in a room who stayed up all night probably using drugs. They were smoking and there cat lived there too. This was the worst experience. We have ever had and have been coming to morro bay for years.

My boyfriend and I happened across this amazing motel on our way home from camping.
I almost did not want to leave a review because it’s like our little hidden secret getaway!
First of all, the rooms are all different. So very cozy, like sleeping at your grandma’s house or a quaint bed and breakfast. Super clean and easy parking. The patio and all the birdhouses in the back make you feel like you are sitting in your own private oasis.
You can even BBQ in the back yard!
We have a trip planned again soon, this will be our 4^th visit here and we will not stay anywhere else! Love the SEASIDE MOTEL!

What a delightful find! We stayed in Room 5, named «Tea for Two.» The room was spotless, the bed was VERY comfortable, and the room was decorated circa-Nana’s spare bedroom. Quaint and charming! The garden is delightful, and such a welcoming space to sip a drink or read a book. Walking distance to everything, and the proprietors couldn’t be more gracious. Already looking forward to our next visit!

Room # 2 intimate ivy. $ 90 for a Very clean 2 double beds w a door between. Gorgeous yard to relax & a feast for the eyes. The owners were lovely to chat w about town & their adorable motel. Off the English garden is a back way to the beach — a block away.

We totally lucked out getting one of the last rooms available at this most enduring motel on the coast after having to bail out of a disgusting, filthy local AirB&B. Rick and Rebecca should give other motels lessons on how to run a successful lodging and fill the place with charm. Clean throughout with tasteful hand-​painted designs everywhere. The backyard garden was simply amazing. We could tell that they toiled over everything with loving care. Would have loved to stay longer if we didn’t have to continue up the coast. We’ll be back for sure!

I really love this kind of non-​chain, locally owned, quirky little motel. The location was great, and the room was just right — small but clean, with personality (I love the décor!), a fantastic bathroom for such a little place, a fridge, and lots of TV stations (a luxury when you spend most of your trip camping!) The owner was very friendly and I let her know that if she weren’t booked for the weekend, I’d stay another night or two.
This motel (and the town itself) is going on my list of places to return to if I’m ever back in this part of California.

Charming, cozy and great location. I could hear the waves crashing from my bed! And could see a slice of ocean from my room! Breakfast places are about a block away. I’d stay here again in a minute. Location, location, location…
TV kept turning off and back on, poor cable connection?. But TV viewing is not why you come to Cayucos.

This place is so charming and cozy! I loved this place! It was a home away from home kind of feeling. I definitely recommend you stay here to have that cozy beach life. Each room has its own theme. I stayed at the fish place room and it was just darling. My friend stayed in the Purple Haze room and it was also adorable. Their coffee inside the room was delish and their outside patio is decorated country garden style. The best part of staying here is walking outside and smelling the ocean breeze. This is great place to stay!

We were up last weekend and had such a wonderful time! The room was great and even had wine glasses! I forgot to bring one so I was thrilled. The garden was beautiful and so relaxing. Can’t wait to come back!!!

Retro roadside motel in sleepy Cayucos. Walking distance to most eateries in town as well as the pie place and the candy store/​ice cream counter and the pier. The garden is lovely but small, and to call it an «ocean view» garden is a bit of a stretch. There is a picnic table and a few chairs though as well as two bbq grills (and charcoal) for guest use.
What sets this place apart is the great hospitality and loving care from the couple who have owned it for 30-​odd years. The tiny rooms are very clean and well taken care of, our Hunt room had a coffeemaker, fridge and microwave and the very comfortable mattresses were high-​end Stress-​O-​Pedic. Each room has enjoyable décor as well as a book featuring notes-​from-​previous-​guests. It’s all very small-​town homey and deliciously comfortable. No pool, no continental breakfast or pastry, no air conditioning or vending machine for water/​soft drinks so I can’t give them a 5^th star, sorry.
Hardworking and friendly owners though I felt badly for them because they are very approachable and eager-​to-​please but many folks seem to want to stop and have a long conversation with them even though they have 12 rooms to clean and make-​up every morning. I really don’t know how they manage to take care of everything while also «entertaining» all of the guests who want to rave about the garden and ask questions about the various rooms & décor and the history of this little piece of Cayucos history.

This is not your average motel. This place is amazing. The owners are very nice people. The garden is so peaceful! The rooms are cute and cozy. Waking distance to everything. This place is a must if you are staying in Cayoucus!

I hate to be a «Debbie Downer» here but I don’t understand all the rave reviews.
I know it’s only a motel and I’ve stayed in plenty in my travels but I just thought it was ok. We stayed in the «Purple Haze» room and maybe purple wasn’t my thing or I don’t know… it was just ok.
The price was good and the place was clean and so again, I think this place is just all right and hence the 3 stars.

Reasonable prices, very clean, good breakfast, in a cool little beach town. I stumbled upon this hotel driving up the pacific highway and would definitely stay here again.

Cutest little place on the West Coast!!! We stopped her on our last night of our honeymoon. So adorable! You truly have to see this place to appreciate it. We stopped here wanting to stay at a place with an ocean view which we barely got but didnt mind much after we got inside and felt so at home. The owners of this amazing place are very friendly and have made it a relaxing and enjoyable place to stay. There is a cute little garden area in the back where you can sit and look at the cutest signs and trinkets. You can walk to the beach in 2 minutes. We recommend this place to everyone. We will be back for sure!!!

Had to cancel last minute after arriving in town, place is super cute and awesome view. Gentleman very nice at desk and greeted me by name upon arriving, helped us out by only charging us cancellation fee on one of two rooms. Sad to not stay but had to keep driving south to meet up with family. Eat at Ruddells smokehouse for quick bite.

Great little place. Our room was spotlessly clean, with a comfortable bed and free wifi; the hosts are helpful and attentive. Minor downsides: the shower head is not adjustable; bring your own shampoo; parking can be tricky when the Motel is full. Don’t expect luxury, but do expect a satisfying experience.

Such a cute motel! Our room even had a kitchen complete with a real stove, with an oven, refrigerator, sink and microwave oven. We were in walking distance of the beach where we saw beautiful sunset. After the sunset we came back to the gorgeous garden and had a glass of wine with some new friends. The owners are super nice! Our room is called the seaside room and is decorated with seashells and all different things having to do with the sea. Flatscreen TV in the living room and bedroom, and a view of the ocean out the bedroom window. Seaside Motel is a gem!

It is rare to find a motel with so much authentic personality and charm.
The owners, Rick and Rebecca, are two of the kindest people I have had the pleasure of meeting, and their love of their motel shows in every detail of the property and the hospitality they provide.
I highly recommend this place to anyone staying in Cayucos. Enjoy the beautiful garden in the back, with a fabulous view of the ocean!
Not only wonderful in the summer, but in the fall and winter, this is a great place to enjoy the beauty of the Central Coast.

I vacation in Cayucos quite often and I was curious about this place after reading all the reviews on Unilocal.I have to say I find it hard to believe all of the positive reviews about this place.
I have never stayed here but just had an encounter on the phone with Rebecca the owner of this motel. I had booked a room over the phone with her husband, (who has a very pleasant demeanor) and due to unforeseeable circumstances I had to cancel and tried to call and email the hotel to let them know that I could not make it.
When I called I spoke to Rebecca and she informed me that she was going to charge me for Friday night because there is a 72 cancellation policy and she stated that her husband had told me that. I informed her that her husband did not tell me that and she argued with me very rudely and said that he did. I explained to her that he didn’t and said I was very sorry and she rudely said «Whatever, just forget it!!» and hung up on me.
I called her again and told her that I didn’t appreciate her rudeness and I was explaining that I wasn’t informed by her husband of the cancellation policy. (I do understand that most hotels have a cancellation policy but I wasn’t informed of theirs when I booked.) She continued to argue with me in a rude tone and stated that she wasn’t going to charge me and that she would be losing money on account of me.
I again apologized to her for the inconvenience because it really was not something that I could help. I am just floored at how unprofessional and rude this woman is.
Before my interaction with Rebecca I was excited to go there and was planning on booking for the end of the month there but after being treated that way I will definitely go elsewhere.

A really wonderful night’s stay –
We were on our way up the coast for the very first time, and this is just the kind of little motel I’d imagined we’d find. Sure enough…
The room was very small — but not crowded. The rooms are very thoughtfully decorated — each with a color or theme. Quilts, art, painted walls — everything was so charming and cozy that we just made ourselves at home and got a great night’s rest.
Good wi-​fi connection was plus — but the location.location.location was the best part. Just lovely.

Le Seaside Motel est un petit havre de paix situé au coeur de la magique et charmante Cayucos, une bourgage qui semble coupée du monde, à seulement deux pas de la célèbre Highway 1 (qui relie Los Angeles à San Francisco avec des paysages à couper le soufflé). Tenu par un adorable couple depuis maintenant des années, l’endroit accumule les petits plus qui font la différence, et garantissent une expérience mémorable: accueil parfait, chambres certes kitsch mais toutes avec une forte personnalité, confort de la literie, détails attentionnés dans la chambre, wifi illimité et facilités d’accès… On s’y sent bien, et on a envie d’y rester.
