Description

Specialties

Known for our fresh seafood, steaks and cocktails, Schooners also has an amazing open air and oceanfront patio and bar, complete with nautical décor and tons of central coast charm.

History

Established in 1994.

Built by legendary tavern maker Bill Larkin, Schooners Wharf launched in 1994 as an authentic nautical restaurant and bar. Serving hearty fish dishes, prime rib, and good drinks, all in a unique oceanfront setting, Schooners’ reputation quickly began to cast a wide net from its Central Coast location. Over the years, a few things have changed, while much of the restaurant remains the same — from the kid-favorite waterwheel, to the antique windmill, the carved wooden pirates, nautical kitsch décor, and the coziest of all the bars you’ll ever find. Add to that our famous calamari, lobster tails and alaskan crab, or our signature steaks and burgers, and you’ll see why so many people have made Schooners their home away from home.

Meet the Business Owner

Business Owner

Having always loved to travel, I was lucky enough to find the special town of Cayucos back in my college days. I didn’t know it then, but my wife Amanda was actually from another town only a few minutes away. A few years later, we met in my hometown of Chicago, while I was the GM of a restaurant and bar in the Gold Coast neighborhood. We travelled to Hawaii together to open a restaurant in Waikiki, and loved it. Then to Seattle to potentially do the same. Another great town, but the timing just wasn’t right. As luck would have it, we ended up returning to Amanda’s home area of the Central Coast. Owning Schooners Wharf is our dream come true, and in an area truly dear to both my wife and myself. We’re dedicated to making our place a favorite among as many as we can, and a friendly place to all.
