The negative reviews on this site are from people who have false expectations of what a PCP are able to provide.
I went today for a crush injury on my thumb from the gym and found Susan exceeded all my expectations from my doctor. I was a new patient and she was able to get me registered and seen within two days of calling. Other practices had dates open in mid-​December which is USELESS for an immediate injury.
Dr. King was efficient, friendly and I would have absolutely no reservation in recommending her to anyone. I am now no longer in pain and she explained everything that had happened in as much detail as possible including what to do in future.
Do not be hoodwinked by the practices who pay to get the top result on Unilocal.This is no indication of their quality of care, just simply shows you how much money they are ripping you off so that they are able to do this.

Dr. King has always been great with me. She addresses all my concerns, makes sure I have my prescriptions and offers to help me with anything I need. However, I cannot get over how unpleasant her office staff is. ESPECIALLY Michelle. I have been going to Dr. king for almost 3 years and Michelle has been there since I became a patient… I remember being baffled at her lack of politeness and customer service at my first appointment and I am still surprised and in shock now that she is still employed there. She never smiles, she is not friendly AT ALL, she is rude, condescending the unpleasant on the phone and in person, and acts like patients are a burden to her when they call or come in the office. She even makes faces and gives dirty looks. I promise I’m not exaggerating… It’s seriously crazy. I’m not one who like people to vomit rainbows everywhere… But she is just not a pleasant person. How she is in the customer service profession is beyond me. Ew.

I just moved to the area, very close to her office, and after reading the negative reviews was hesitant to see Dr. King. Because of the convenience, I did anyway, and I’m very glad I did. I waited until I had seen Dr. King a few times before forming an opinion. I find her extremely professional and knowledgeable, and she makes me feel as though she truly cares about any issues I have. I really appreciate her thoroughness, and her candor in referring me to other specialists. I don’t believe she would ever recommend a physician or medication for any reason other than her personal knowledge and experience.
Occasionally I am not seen immediatley at my appointment time, but I have seen that she spends whatever time she deems necessary with a patient, and know that can throw off her schedule a bit (she spent an hour with me during my first appointment). She does not ooze super-​friendly «bedside manner», but she is professional, friendly, and courteous, all of which I value over a glad-​hander who places unneeded emphasis on wanting you to like him or her as a person. I value the physician in her, and prefer the non-​chatty bottom line when it comes to my health. I sincerely believe that if the patient is courteous to her and her staff that she will reciprocate with courtesy, and certainly diligence.
Even when a lot of extra unpaid time is required of her, such as the endless insurance paperwork for pre-​approvals, etc., she will do what is necessary on my behalf. I come from a medical family and spent much of my life in medicine, and I am extremely pleased with Dr. King. I would not hesitate to recommend her highly. The only reason I didn’t check all 5 stars (even though she gives me 5-​star treatment and attention) is that occasionally it can be more difficult to get an appointment at the last moment, or be seen quickly. I was very spoiled by my former doctor in another state who would take calls after hours and on weekends for urgent matters. Keeping her schedule is understandable, however, and I have been very happy with making appointments when they are available.
If you want a really good, conscientious, thorough, and courteous doctor, rather than a chatty «friend», she will not disappoint.

Yep, this doctor and her office is pretty bad. Long, ridiculously long, waits followed by ho-​hum interaction with a nurse practitioner. I’ve seen Dr. King once and she was fine, I’ve seen the NP three times and she just seems uninterested and inept to me.
I recently moved to Dr. Eisen with ADC and I was reminded of what it’s like to have a proactive doctor who is invested in my physical health.

Horrible bedside manner and very long waits with no sincere apology. She was the most unfriendly doctor I have ever been to.

Dr. King is a smart doctor no doubt, but she’s very pushy and does not let the patient advocate for themselves. She lacks a warmth and is very quick to push medication (why do ALL doctors do this!?). I overheard her prescribing a patient medication for weight loss and as the patient was walking out she told her to «try and get in some cardio». Should that not be the first recommendation over meds? If you are looking for a doctor with a good balance between medical intervention AND a natural holistic approach she’s not for you. She simply was too pushy and I felt rushed and not listened to.

Not a good experience at all. I called to set up a new patient appointment. The lady on the phone was rude, sounded pissed off. Sorry you had to do your job!!! I get there early to fill out paper work, was asked for my DL and ins card. I explained how I just got my insurance and had no cards. The lady tells me you need those cards and starts raising her voice. I asked you couldn’t call the ins, and validate that way? I tried to explain other places did. She tells me, in attitude voice «that’s not how we do it here» she became the biggest bitch I have ever met anywhere. Dr king it was the lady working 2−24−15 at 1130 am in braids. I will never go back to your office and tell others to avoid that place! This rating gets you a zero!!! How many other patients has she ran off???

would not recommend for various reasons. had testing done and was told i’d receive a call with the results. had to call three times to eventually be told A MONTH LATER «someone should have told you to make a follow on appointment at the time of your testing, that’s usually how we do it» — really? ok, well obviously the other 2 people i talked with didn’t know that. seems something as typical and standard as providing results back to a patient would go smoothly and without confusion.

Dr. King is a great doctor. I’ve seen her many times over the past eight years. I even drive from downtown Austin just to see her.

I was a patient of Dr. King’s for almost 2 years. I did not care for visits with her because she was callous and seemed to distrust me when it came to discussing my symptoms. I am not one to just run to the doctor for the sniffles, so when I do go, I have tried all the home remedies possible. The staff was equally unpleasant, but I could usually get an appointment no later than the next morning when sick. I continued using her office because Julie Elam joined the practice and was such a breath of fresh air in the health care industry. Julie is no longer with the practice, however I still need a family doctor and decided to continue seeing Dr. King. Changing doctors is a nightmare! I called in, because I had been sick for almost a week and got much worse over the weekend. I was told it would be 4 days before I could get an appointment! Her staff, as usually, could have cared less that I was sick, and did not even offer to try to work me in. I am certainly through trying to be nice and giving her office another chance. I doubt she will read this, or care for that matter, but I hope that I help others avoid such negative experiences as me and my family have dealt with over the last 2 years.

I saw Dr King throughout my adolescence, as did my family, at their original location in north Austin. She was always an asset to our family, helping us through this issue or that condition. I moved to Dallas for several years and when I returned I was sad to find her new practice too far north to be practical for me. However, though I was in New Braunfels, she was the person I went to once I found out I was pregnant. Despite the time away, Dr. King remembered my details, was warm and helpful, and helped me in taking the first step forward proper prenatal care. Wish she were closer, but happy for the Cedar Park families who get to have her add their Dr.

I had another appointment this week with Dr. King. This was after a checkup nearly 6 weeks ago. I had this follow up visit because I was very impressed with not only that visit, but the follow up phone calls I received from Michelle, their friendly practice manager as well as the doctor herself to see how I was doing. I was dealing with some personal issues & I have to say that I am doing much better now thanks to Dr. King’s professionalism and overall medical knowledge. Her & Michelle were both very kind to follow up with me. I would recommend Dr. King to anyone I know!

I have been with Dr. King for more than 10 years. She is patient and respects confidentiality. I trusted my children to her and for a mother to do that you know she’s got to win that trust first. Wonderful person, mother, and doctor.

I’ve been seeing Dr. King for about 1 year now, and have been very happy with her, the office staff, and professional level of service. Always very punctual, she takes the time to listen, and makes you feel she truly cares. Also, I really like the on-​line medical history system they use, providing quick access to your medical history, office visits, and test results. I highly recommend Dr. King if you’re looking for an effective, competent M.D.

Dr. King has been a joy to visit and is extremely competent in her practice of medicine and trust worthy. Even tough the drive is lengthy because I do not live in that area of town it is always worth my peace of mind to make the drive for such a wonderful Dr.. Her staff is friendly and always willing to help me with any special last second appointments I may need. Highly recommend Dr. Susan King for your general medical needs.

Nice enough person it seems, but epitomizes what is wrong with health care. She is not my primary care doc and I wanted a quick appt so I thought I would give her a chance (VA appts not so easy to make). That being said…
She asked if I wanted to take a questionnaire on the iPad. Stupidly, I said sure without asking for more specifics or price. Added on to my bill was $ 125 for that 5 minute unassisted, unanalyzed electronic form. In what world do I live in where that is reasonable. Anyway, one might say the burden is on the patient to ask these questions, but I still think the docs should have a great difficulty sleeping at night. What am I saying, they’ll just prescribe themselves some ambien and dream of jumping into pools filled with my money.

I really have been fretting over this review, but I did schedule an appointment with this doctor based on Unilocal reviews. FYI, this one is worth reading the filtered reviews. I had some big issues, and probably won’t be returning.
I scheduled an appointment and got in during a day and time that was convenient for me. I filled out the paperwork online and brought it with me. I arrived early, about 10 minutes for a new patient. The lady who appeared to be the office manager took my license, insurance card, and my paperwork. I sat for nearly 20 minutes in the waiting room while she supposedly got my information in to the system, and the MA sat next to her making patient calls. She called me back up to the window about 10 minutes in and gave me back my cards and told me that someone would be with me shortly. Little did I know that someone was sitting up front making call after call while I waited well past my appointment time.
After the MA called me back, we went in to a side room where she proceeded to ask me a few questions, and stated that my information had not been put in to the system yet — I’m sorry, what? I had been waiting for 20 minutes, how is that possible? She did my height, weight, BP, and asked me a few questions. We chatted a little and the issue of weight came up and she mentioned that their office participates in MediFast and I looked straight at her and told her that I did not believe that Medifast was a good weight loss solution and she proceeded to defend it. I really didn’t appreciate that because instead of a meal replacement plan, the first thing that any good doctor’s office should be offering is a referral to a good nutritionist and exercise. That right there was unfortunate at best, and the fact that the MA was defensive about this, and it was me who backed up and provided the professionalism with a spoonful of possible acceptance so we could move on was ridiculous.
The MA and I proceeded to the exam room where she gave me a paper explaining their Patient Fusion software. Then, oddly, she provided me with a 2 page survey for a third party testing company. Two third party sells and I haven’t seen the doctor yet? This wasn’t going well at all.
After that I sat there for a good 45+ minutes waiting for Dr. King to come in. I heard a lot of walking back and forth, construction work, and loud-​ish music coming from one of the offices. I’m sitting there looking around the patient room, and I’m noticing dirt on the floor, as well as a cotton swab… not as clean as I would expect for a doctor’s office. And then I hear, «Well how long has she been in there?» «Well what happened?» etc. etc. And for sure, I thought the doctor would be right in, but I waited another like… 10 minutes after that.
Finally, Dr. King came in and was very apologetic, but also fairly frazzled and explained that her staff had inserted other patients in to the schedule and one of them had arrived at a different time. I said I was fine, and really it was «ok» because I didn’t really have anywhere else to be but I did wait a long time. Really, I was trying to un-​frazzle her so that she could focus on me. It appears that the front office had really obliterated everything into a giant cluster-f*ck…and she mentioned that today was going much better than yesterday… Yikes?!
Anyways, I gave her a little bit of background on my issue and also talked to her about a little background on me including some recent stress this year with my husband going through cancer treatment. She looked at the issue I had brought to her, and made somewhat of a diagnosis and did offer some options which was great… however. The one alarming thing that she said to me was, «Well, last time I saw this I thought it was what I’m telling you it is… but it turned out to be cancer… so…» WTF. You don’t say that to a cancer patient’s wife. You don’t. End Of Story. She referred me out to a specialist that… I guess performs other types of work but does what I need «on the side». BS… I went and found a specialist and made a self referral appointment, (yay my insurance). I’m really disappointed with how the whole appointment went, and honestly pretty shaken by the whole cancer comment. Augh.
All things aside, I think Dr. King is a really nice lady, don’t get me wrong. Everything that could have seemingly gone wrong in my appointment did… but I think that in order to appropriately focus on her patients she needs a much better office staff. The scheduling is obviously not going well, it sounds as if, from the Unilocal reviews that billing is off, and honestly the MA seemed pretty inexperienced and green. So, for me, I most likely will not go back to Dr. King but I most urgently suggest that she take a look into revising some issues with her business. I think it would make a world of difference for her and she could become a great local doctor.

Doctor King has always been nothing but professional and provided me excellent patient care… however her office manager Michelle is another story. That woman has no place working with humans… of any sort… especially the sick or the suffering.
Michelle is a yelly, angry, rude, unconscionable excuse for a front office staff person. She makes no effort in helping patients, dealing with insurance issues, or even being polite to my children.
I sincerely wish nothing but the best for Doctor King, however the Michelle lady in front could wake up everyday to find bird crap on her car and I wouldn’t mind.

Dr. King is a hands-​on, quality doctor. In a time where doctors are increasingly less engaged, Dr. King is there to assess your needs. I highly recommend her as a family practioner or individual doctor. Her office location is very convenient and makes it easy to get in and out with ease. I also like the fact that you never wait very long to see the doctor and they are quick to get me scheduled if I need to see the doctor quickly. She calls to follow up on my care or new prescriptions in which I like about her service. A real doctor that is engaged in her patients health!

2^nd generation of doctors here, her father was my primary care physician for ten years.
Dr. King is very thorough and meticulous with her examinations and genuinely cares about your welfare. I first went to her in January of 2009 after not seeing a doctor in a few years and she did a battery of tests on me, then called me back and had me come in for a free follow up to talk about things. Mostly ways I could improve my diet and exercise and cut down my weight and cholesterol.
When I came back six months later with progress to show her, she was very proud of me, even patted me on the butt on my way out the door. Okay, she didn’t really do that, but mentally I felt that way. Her staff is friendly and courteous, although prone to being a little slow.
Also, this office recently moved up north, near Lakeline Mall. That’s a bit of a hike for me now, I am going to have to take time off work to get back here, rather than rushing in for lunch or before work.
