The high school’s parent volunteer messed up and didn’t book a bus to take the kids to a tournament in Cedar Rapids, resulting in my husband driving a van full of kids to Cedar Rapids instead. As a result I booked him a room to stay over that night. However, the same volunteer also gave the wrong information about *which* Hampton Inn in Cedar Rapids the kids were booked at. As soon as I learned this I called to see if they could switch his reservation to the correct Hampton Inn. No dice — Hampton Inn refused to allow us to switch the reservation to their other location in the same city. Seems crazy inflexible and we were in a difficult situation on short notice. The debate team is run by volunteers and a nonprofit organization. I had to pay twice out of pocket for two hotel rooms, only one of which was used. All this took place while I myself was staying at and paying for another room in a different Hampton Inn in another state. So much for rewarding your best customers! Never again!

I am giving this hotel 5 stars — I’d give them 10 stars if I could — one for every night that we stayed there! I discovered this hotel on TripAdvisor and read all the rave reviews. I have to agree —this has to be by far the best hotel experience that I have ever had for the very reasonable price!!! Everyone here is super friendly! It was VERY clean. Offering a FREE breakfast every morning which included — eggs cooked in a variety of ways, waffles, french toast, bacon /sausage — plus the typical free breakfast items most hotels offer. The indoor pool is emaculate and warm and the jacuzzi is HOT with great jets— VERYCLEAN! I used the pool 2x a day and I usually had the pool to myself early in the mornings and late in the evenings. The hotel room was big with nice counter space, drawers, a fridge, sink, coffee pot, and a microwave with popcorn! The TV is a huge flat screen on a swivel with a large desk to work on or to conveniently store our suitcases on. Free Wi-Fi. Free bottled water. Tea and coffee served all day with fresh fruit and yummy cookies in the afternoon. The hotel is conveniently located near a variety of great restaurants, a flower gardened park to walk to, 2 movie theaters, and all types of shopping. My only very small compliant is that the room key needed to be reset numerous times.

Due to my family living in CR, I have frequented a couple different hotels on the NW side. The Hampton Inn & Suites is now my favorite. I have to admit — I only tried this location because of an internet special. I was beyond impressed! The room was huge, the bed was super comfy, the furnishings were above average for«hotel décor» and everything was clean. The pool was a perfect temperature, the breakfast was decent and the staff was very helpful. WiFi worked without any problems, the halls were quiet during the night and there was plenty of parking. I seriously have NO complaints about this place — I wish I could’ve stayed a second night. :)

My husband and I stayed here for a family reunion and it was probably the best hotel I’ve ever been in. The room was downright swanky. It had almost every amenity minus a fridge. This was the first time I had ever actually slept great in a hotel bed, it was that comfortable and I’m pretty picky when it comes to where I bed down for the night. My favorite part was the shower, it was just so HUGE which makes a difference when you’re 6’5″ Not only was the room great and affordable, but the staff were very friendly as well. They love to talk and it wasn’t inane conversation. The energy of the room was just great and if I ever find myself in this city again, this is where I want to stay.

Stayed here while passing through IA on my road trip. Was very impressed with Jada who was at the front desk when we checked in around 10 pm. She was super cheery and friendly. She greeted everyone every time they came in and was very helpful. We were very impressed also with the room quality and cleanliness — not to mention the free hot breakfast in the morning– yum! Great Job staff!

This is the spot the boss picked to accomodate a «centralized» locale for a three day long regional meeting. Centralized, in this context, means half of us(me included) drive 4.5 hours, a few drive 3 hours, and one unlucky soul gets a 6 hour drive. So, my room door lock«broke» after one(long) day’s meeting. The front desk gal«re-swiped» my room key four times. This required me to go from my room on the fourth floor to the front desk four times. This made me sweaty. And a tad miffed. After the fourth attempt to get me into my room, the gal had to call her manager. Somehow, after replacing the batteries in the lock(who knew?) and revealing some security secrets I’m sure Mr. and Mrs. Hampton did not want the likes of me knowing, the damn thing worked! Oh, yeah, the meeting room was insufferably cold, then hot, cold again, hot, hot, cold, repeat ad nauseum. I was incensed enough to not care how sparkly, or new, or spacious the hotel room was. Call me old fashioned but, for 109 a night, I expect a serviceable door, a comfortable meeting room, and the outside temperature to be over 15 degrees.

Right across the road from a huge park with a good running trail. In a complex with lots of other hotels and chain restaurants. Best out of hotels in the nearby area. I stayed here a couple years ago when it just opened and everyone was incredibly nice. Rooms were big, room enough for the 5 of us. Good continental breakfast.

Don’t plan on staying at this Hampton Inn unless you prepay your stay. They overbook rooms and send you to another hotel down the block. I used to be a loyal customer of Hilton hotel chains but not after this experience. They don’t really deserve one star.
