Great food and service. Mike C and Kameron were fast and attentive highly recommended.

Food here is great. Our sever Ismael was harder to track down than normal but it may be due to the fact that we were seated in a corner. The wait time still hasn’t improved over the course of a year.

The food is amazing and the staff make the experience even more worth the wait. The greeter/​person maning the waiting list was so calm, collected, and nice. I missed my name being called as I was in the restroom, but she accommodated us by letting us be next on the list. Super sweet (I can’t spell her name as it was a traditional Korean name). Also, our servers Josef (Joseph), Brendan, and Justin worked so efficiently and quick. They were literally running/​speed walking to get all of our orders. Gave great recommendations for menu items and repeated our orders. No errors and we were astonished as they were servers for over 12 tables (with easily 5 or more guest at each table). Josef was funny and hilarious and maintained his upbeat personality even with the chaos around him.
In terms of food, super fresh and quality cuts off meat. Recommendations are:
1. Beef belly
2. Pork belly
3. Cajun shrimp
4. Galbi
5. Beef brisket (delicious and just the right amount of fat)
6. Fresh shrimp and squid.
Definitely come early and go when you aren’t super hungry yet, as by the time you get in, you’ll be hungry. :)

I loved the service here! We had great recommendations from Shawn and Bno. They were also very quick with our orders, regardless of how packed it was. Definitely coming back here

Great place to eat Korean BBQ! The food is well flavored and fresh and the staff is great! The environment is nice and trendy; it’s a really cool spot. It is always crowded so, if you go, know that your wait will likely be 45 minutes or so but it’s worth it!
I was just there yesterday for a family member’s birthday and our waiter was Joseph. He was excellent! Very attentive and efficient and had a great sense of humor so our experience was pleasant and fun! Great place! I would definitely recommend!

This is by far the best Korean BBQ! I must say this location is my fav. Been here countless times but decided to give them a review today.
I made reservations for my husbands birthday this past Thursday but unfortunately when checking in there was a misunderstanding with me not being on the list. However the manager, Harrison, saw to it that we were seated as soon as possible (within 5 minutes) and apologized. I must say the servers are on point with your orders, grills and most importantly are friendly. Marianne and Brandon were awesome!
All in all, great atmosphere, great food, good drinks and music is to my liking

Every time I come here, I always wait to get seated under Josef’s section. I’m not one to write many reviews but his service is just above and beyond and I feel like people going to try Gen for the first time need to experience it while being seated under his section…

This is my go to kbbq spot in the area. Great for large parties because they take reservations. I like coming here because Of the service. Every time I come the service is amazing!
I had Josef and Justin and Brian leewee tonight as my servers. They are the hardest working servers I’ve ever seen at a restaurant. Always running around and always asking if we needed anything. They work so hard omg. For a party of 10 they were the best! Best three servers at Gen!!! I don’t know if you can request to be seated at their tables but please do. Five star exceptional service! They even peeled my shrimps. That’s love.
As for the food, lots and lots of variety of meats. But I wish they had better tasting soups. The soups suck here honestly. Don’t get it.
Also, I wish the girls in the front with them hair buns were as nice and friendly as the servers.

We went here for a birthday dinner because we heard it was a really nice AYCE place. We’re glad we came. The place looks really nice, and we had really great quality meat. However, the real MVP of the night was our waiter, Josh.
Honestly, to be the only person serving half of the restaurant is sooo tough. To be able to hold all of those trays of food and drinks PLUS to do it with a smile on his face shows a lot about his character. He made sure that everyone got their order on time and rushed back and forth from the kitchen to do so. This guy deserves an applause for his work

Made a reservation for 4 and the staff was on POINT! Our waiter, Travis was on his A-​Game today! He made sure that all of our orders were being met, and ALWAYS checked up on my table.

They are consistent in great service and good food!
I love coming here for lunch to avoid the crowds and a long wait.
Service really is on point, you never have to wait long for them to bring out the next plates and check if your grill is still clean.
So many menu options, my son loves all the fried options that don’t need to be grilled, I’m a huge fan of the dumplings and veggie items, my husband loves anything here with beef so we are all pretty happy here.
Prices can’t be beat at $ 15-​$ 20 per person, I’ll be back!

Delicious food, tremendous service, great for large groups, fair price, clean and upbeat atmosphere! This place could not get any better — seriously, you will not be disappointed!
I believe it was the chicken bulgogy, Hawaiian steak, and brisket I loved most, I must have tasted like ten different meats and they were all good.
Went with a group of about 24 for a birthday all of us very pleased. Our servers did such a fantastic job, very attentive, knew their menu inside and out, kept us laughing, basically gave us 5 star service.
Best part of the experience was the prank they pulled on us, here’s the story:
My uncle actually took a cake and gave it to the hostess before we were even seated. So after everyone’s stuffed we’re watching 3 waiters walk over from the other side of the restaurant, one holding the cake with lit candles, all of them singing ‘happy birthday’ and as they got closer, like a couple booths over, the guy holding cake drops, we hear a thump, thy start arguing with each other «look what you made me do!» — our jaws dropped not even because we were upset they dropped the caked but felt bad for the poor guy, then… They start laughing and shout «Got ya!» The cake was fine, we had a great laugh and they even provided plates and utensils.

It’s been awhile since I’ve been to Gen. And as much as I want to try a lil of everything, I always start and end my meal with their chadol/​brisket. And last Friday was my reminder of how bomb their brisket is and how thick the cuts are — they definitely are on my top AYCE KBBQ for it!
Knowing if you get there after 6pm will be the 1−½ to 2 hr wait, I got there @ 530pm to put our names down for a table of 6 and we were seated in 30 min. We were notified by the hostess prior to sitting that the light fixture above the table was busted. It didn’t seem like a bad idea to just stick with the table, until we started cooking and we could barely tell if the meat fully cooked.
Joseph was the best server! Not only did he constantly take our orders and change our grills at the the slightest char, but he left and entrusted his phone with us!!! He propped it into a drinking glass and left the phone flashlight on during the entirety of our 2hr dinner!!! Definitely deserves the «Server of the Month,» if not «Server of the Year!» LOL

Wanted to find out what the hype was so I decided to block off some time to check Gen out… boy was it worth it! Honestly, I get why it so popular. They are are setting the standard as far as KBBQ goes. The food was great, portions were generous, quality was good and tasty.
Service is awesome, i felt a tad like I was being annoying when I asked for 3 sides of potato salad, hence the 4 stars (you should be happy to hook me up, I am at an AYCE, right?). Overall though, I would go back. My wife is vegetarian and she loved all the veggie options too,.
1 suggestion, you need steamed egg on your menu. People expect it when they go to KBBQ!
Our server said they sometimes have it in a tray that you cook yourself but he wouldn’t suggest it on the day we went since «it may be very old».

Excellent service from Christian F., Dylan, and Bno! This trio of servers were very attentive to our table and helped enhance our korean bbq experience with such fast and efficient service. The brisket, pork cheek, and pork belly are my personal favorites. So come to Gen Korean BBQ in Cerritos and get ready for a meatastic time!

I came here twice with my aunt and my bf for lunch. This place gets packed!
The food was pretty good and fresh. We kept bugging our waiter, Joshua, for more rice paper. He was pretty awesome and has such a great personality. When I visit this location, I hope we get Joshua as our waiter again!
I strongly recommend the chadol, Hawaiian steak (don’t forget to dry and EAT the pineapple!), and the garlic pork belly. I wasn’t that big of a fan for the wine pork belly since the wine flavor was very strong… Everything on the menu is pretty good.
Come early or you’ll end up waiting! And of course, come hungry~

What a delicious and fun experience for my family’s first time here!
I arrived first to GEN and the hostess took down my name since there was a bit of a wait. I was there at 11:15am and my sister and the rest of the party were less than 15 minutes away. So to kill some time, I sat on their bar, ordered a Hite beer and chilled. By the time my family arrived, the hostess called out my name and we were ushered to our booth.
Vinz was our server and we also had some help from Ricardo and two others in their team. They were polite, friendly, and ultra helpful! I was very impressed on how they all worked together like a well oiled machine. For example, when one server is busy, the other would check on our party or take the initiative to get any of our food needs. Also, Their sides were delicious and at your request they will get you more.
We tried almost every imaginable meat in their menu and I even tried the small intestines. I kinda went for it as a nod to Andrew Zimmern.
Cannot wait again for out next GEN dining! Keep up the great work and see you guys again!

Have you ever felt like simultaneously going to a club and eating Korean BBQ at the same time? I’ve got just the place for you! Gen is the most popping dinner spot in this Cerritos plaza, and they have the wait and bumpin’ music to prove it. We arrived at around 7:45, and were told that the wait was going to be 1 hr and 45 minutes… o m g. Luckily, they overestimate their times and we were seated in less than an hour.
AYCE for dinner is about $ 20. Shoutout to the brave waiters that manned the tables during the dinner rush. It was slammed, and we weren’t really helping by asking for plates on plates of meat, plus refills of banchan and rice paper. Eventually the poor guys ended up giving us like 10 sides of potatoes to satiate our potato cravings! They at least have a good sense of humor about it. All the meat is pretty good, I’m sure that there are some snobs who will say that it’s not super high quality but I liked everything that I was putting in my mouth. To be honest though, once stuff was cooked I wasn’t really sure what was what. So… I can’t really break down the meat for you. Sorry! I did especially enjoy the Hawaiian Steak though, which came with pineapples. DO ask for a side of garlic to toss on your grill, and they have sides of veggies to grill too if you’d like.
We also ordered flavored soju. After we finished, our waiter brought us yet another soju that he called ~The Panty Dropper~ that was on the house! That had our group of all ladies blushing for sure. You da real MVP, «Marianne.» If you enjoy alcohol that doesn’t taste like alcohol, this is definitely a must try, since it basically tastes like fruit punch. We had 7 people and one large was enough for maybe 3 shots each.
I’ve never had a bad experience at Gen! I think you can definitely eat your money’s worth, and the service is spot on… if it’s slow it’s because there are a lot of people clamoring for help too.
