Wood Ranch BBQ & Grill

This review will be specifically for the bar section during evening service on a Friday.
…that was super specific.
I haven’t been to Wood Ranch in over 7 years. I came here hoping to grab a quick bite before we headed into the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts for The Producers. We had 40 minutes. How did the affair go?
We made it! We ordered from the bar 2 drinks: 1 raspberry mixed drink that tasted sweet and non-​alcoholic (which was the aim of the drinker) and a Moose Drool brown ale on tap. We ordered the Brisket Burger 2.0, split it in half with a side of mac n’ cheese. The order came out in about 15 minutes and the cheesiness of the mac did well with the spice of the tangy burger. The bar itself was a great choice because it gave a great view of the dining space and it wasn’t overcrowded. Even better was the quick service and I would highly recommend for any group of 2 – 3 always try eating at the bar on busy nights. It means fast service, personal interaction with staff, and usually a pretty nice set up of games or other eye candy.
All in all the dining wasn’t anything mind blowing (though the complimentary dinner rolls were divine, laced with buttery garlic and herbs within the dough), it hit the spot and with time to spare for the show that awaited in less than a hour. Kudos to you!

Luckily, I was more in the mood for a burger, but nonetheless, I’m sure there were a lot of unhappy guests.
Burger was great though!

Not as good as Houstons overall and their bread isn’t as good as Lucilles. BUT, their tri tip was cooked to perfection and we had great service! Pomegranate lemonade was better than I expected. Mashed potatoes were very tasty and buttery.
Another random thing I wanted to mention but what I thought was uniquely cool of them was their text service which keeps you updated of your wait and where you are in line! We were able to wait in our car, which is a big deal when you have two little ones!

Overall good experience (great service, relatively fast seating for a busy Sunday night, and delicious food). The missing star is due to the small serving size for several of the dishes.
They take reservations up until 5pm only. They also have a first-​come first-​serve bar area where you can also order food.
— Complimentary garlic bread: amaaazing! warm, soft, and dangerously delicious
— ½ order of Nataly’s Salad ($ 9.95): tasty but skimpy! I was shocked to see how tiny the salad portion was. On the other hand, the salad was delicious.
— Bar-​B-​Cubano sandwich: good-​sized portion (could only eat half the sandwich) but the mac-​n-​cheese side was rather tiny and mediocre-​tasting.
— All-​American Baby Back Ribs: yummy ribs, nothing to complain about, but the 2 side orders (beans and sweet potato mash) were on the small side yet again.
— Mom’s Cobber dessert: this peach cobbler topped with vanilla ice cream was the perfect end to our meal — so good!

First and foremost, the servers are wonderful! Everyone is very attentive, kind, and genuinely happy to be at work.
4 star breakdown.
1. The bread was a bit too oily. However, you can always ask for more bread and it’s free! Yay!
2. BBQ chicken salad is a must. (Or with any choice of protein) perfect amount of dressing, the lettuce is chopped perfectly and evenly so you’re able to use your fork to pick up a large amount of salad pieces.
3. Special beef ribs get it without sauce, because it was a little too saucy. But the meat does cut nicely and is tender.
4. The baked potatoes skins was delicious. Comes with diced chicken, onions, scallions, and cheese. A little heavy on the cheese but edible.
Price: reasonable :)

Yummy in my tummy! I haven’t been here in years but I was so glad that we came back.
My BF and I were starving, so thank goodness the wait wasn’t too bad on a Friday night for a party of two.
The complimentary bread with pesto oil was amazing, and highly addicting! We both ordered starters of clam chowder and caesar salad; both delicious. The clam chowder was thick, just the way we like it with a good balance of clams and potatoes. I ordered a half rack of baby back ribs. I chose mashed potatoes and baked beans for my sides. My BF had the Wood Ranch BBQ Combo– tri tip, baby back ribs, beef ribs, and chicken. The trip tip and chicken were my favorite! Juicy and tender! I didn’t care for the coleslaw or mac n cheese. I thought the mac n cheese was way too thick and dry because they use American cheese.
Overall it was a great dinner and the portions were huge!

Seriously my favorite BBQ place. I’ve been coming here for years with my family and now with coworkers and friends. Everything I have tried has always been amazing. My favorite is the bbq chicken salad. I already love bbq chicken salad, but theirs is to die for! It has their signature bbq chicken and has grilled corn. Also, their garlic rolls are free and amazing! My friend is a vegetarian and comes here just for the garlic rolls! So good…
