History

Established in 1963.

The LINN Companies is a growing, family-​owned automotive business starting with a lot of hard work and determination. Its origins can be traced back over 40 years to when the founder, Clarence Linn and his wife Marion, made a bold move from the small-​town of Watkins, Minnesota to temporarily reside with Clarence’s sister in Cottage Grove. For nearly three years, as the newlyweds tried to become established financially, Clarence worked odd jobs, including a job at a small independent Standard Oil service station. Although struggles were apparent, it was Clarence’s long heritage to an early culture of business ethics, innovation, and leadership that have become instilled traits for continued success.
