RMS Service

Rms= very bad service. I bought a groupon for 2 oil changes for $ 19. So I called them to set up an appointment for it. They said the next availabe appointment will be a month in a half.
Helll no… I said so I called them up one day and they said yes we can do it now just bring in your car 10 mins later I got there and they say they ran out of oil and it was 10 am in the morning. I’m begining to think that they don’t wanna take the groupon offer anymore. And their hours sucks too 9 – 5 pm monday– friday. What kinda hours is that, thats during work hours abd plus its a bunch of kids that works there anyways ages from 18 – 22 im guessing. So my suggestions is do not go there and do not buy a groupon from them

DO NOT GO HERE! I honestly have no idea how they’re still in business. I had my shocks replaced here over 2 years ago and spent nearly $ 2k on the original job. 1 month later, they were squeaking and busted again. I took the car back and they claimed they’d accidentally installed recalled shocks. So they put on another pair. Again, 2 months later, same thing. Shocks crapped out and started banging real loud. I brought the car back AGAIN and this time they claimed the technician was someone they’d recently fired. So they replace them yet again (keep in mind, each trip to this place is 1 day off work). Low and behold, 2 months later the same thing happened again, shocks crapped out and starting banging around again. By this time, I’d moved into Arlington, so to take off yet another day of work and drive out there only to have them do it AGAIN, was not worth it.
So basically, I spent $ 2k and 3 days PTO of work and the headache of driving out there, all for a result that was worse than when i originally took the car in.
They’re wildly untrustworthy, they do crappy work, and they charge WAY too much!
There’s not a single reason why these guys should still be in business.

They may have changed management because Mark is the new manager (I’m guessing) and he was very helpful. I’ve only came here for oil and filter change so they’ve done a pretty good job with that and they are pretty fast. About 30 – 40 minutes waiting time when your car is actually in the shop. I come on the weekdays during the afternoon so the wait isn’t too bad, maybe 10 – 15 minutes waiting for my car to get inside. Mark told me other problems I had with the car which he showed me but thats expected but he wasn’t like other car service places where they push on you and trying to find everything wrong with my car.
The place is small on the inside in the lounge area but they offer coffee. But it is absolutely freeezzzing in the lounge area. There’s a heater but damn it can at least be less cold then it is outside! Overall, it was a breeze coming here and I will definitely come back for other services.

Great personal service by experts specializing in high performance automobiles. We have used RMS for what would be very costly repairs at a dealership. This last time, Mark was very helpful when there was an unexpected delay which was out of everyone’s control. He covered all additional costs too. I will continue to use RMS because they are fair and honest. I have recommended RMS to my friends and recommend them to you!

This is the worst place to bring your car ! What kind of auto repair shop is closed on Sat? This shop is really going down hill. Only if you guys knew how this company conducts business. I was not suprise to see all the bad reviews! They will lure you in with their Grouppons deals for oil changes and 120 point inspection. You will be even lucky if their replace your oil filter! This Toyota recently came in for an oil change, the car broke down after shortly leaving the shop because oil drain plug came loose and the engine lock up. The engine was completely sieze up due to no oil. You have been fair warn! I can not go into much details because of a pending investigation with the BBB and OSHA. This company claims to have an ASE certified technician! Shaking my head! Don’t be fool. Check and see for yourself. when in fact, this company is known to employ undocumented workers who have no automotive experience! Think twice before bringing your high end vehicle in for service or matinence. Don’t let Edgar and his father Scam you like they did me and others! I don’t even know how their still in business? Their so many bad reviews, They added mutiple websites with different phone numbers? Scammers will always be scammers.

Very friendly and knowledgeable. Took my SUV in for an oil change late in the day. They accepted the car without question and had me out in less than 15 minutes. There has been an ownership change since the slew of poor reviews a few months ago. I would suggest giving them your business.

NOT PLEASED WITH THIS ESTABLISHMENT! Below is what I wrote to Groupon requesting my refund for the voucher others have spoken about:
I would like to request a refund on this Groupon as I am not pleased with the vendor customer service. On the Groupon it says that a reservation is recommended, so I went to their website to make a reservation. Their hours were listed as M-​F 8:00 — 6:30 and Sat 9:00 — 3:00. I clicked the button on the website suggesting I request an appointment and selected an appointment time for 12:00 on Saturday. I made this reservation on a Tuesday. I was told that I would get a phone call confirmation. Come Friday, the day before my appointment, I had not received a call. I figured I would call just in case before I drove all the way out there to find for whatever reason I did not have an appointment confirmed. When I called I was told by the gentleman on the line that they do not take reservations. I inquired as to why it was an option on their website and he told me because they have other locations that to take reservations. According to their website they only have one location. Putting my disappointment and aggravation aside I asked him then, when would be the best time to come in. He informed me that they were open M-​F 8:00 — 6:00. This is not what was reflected on the website. I have since went to Unilocal and found several negative reviews about this establishment, including customers that somehow made a reservation and also visited their establishment on a Saturday. Not only do I have no way possible, without taking time off of work to bring my car in during the hours he gave me, I no longer trust these people to put their hands on my car as I feel I was lied to AND I would not want to honor them with my business.

Like many others, I went to RMS because of a GroupOn deal for a cheap oil change, tire rotation, and «120-​point inspection.»
The first time I went there, they changed my oil and found $ 3000 – 4000 in repairs that needed to be done (I can’t find my receipt to cite the exact amount). Not wanting to spend that much at a place I know nothing about, I took it elsewhere for a second opinion… and then somewhere else for a third opinion. Neither other place could find ANY work that actually needs to be done.
Months later, I went back to RMS for the second oil change in the original deal. This time, they didn’t find any of the problems that they claimed existed the previous time, though they found some new problems (this time, I think the problems they found may actually be legit, but I’ll still have someone reputable do the work). Both visits also took quite a bit of time. Oil changes are typically 20 – 30 minute affairs (they did not rotate my tires either time because two of my tires need to be replaced, and their wear patterns precluded rotation). At RMS, they’re 90+ minutes long, even if no other customers are there being serviced.
I’m done with RMS, and won’t be buying any more GroupOn deals for them.
I will say that, unlike what other reviewers experienced, the people I worked with at RMS were very friendly, and gave me written estimates with no hesitation. A friendly scammer is still a scammer, though.

Seeing the deal of these guy in Groupon, Googling for their reviews 5 Star excellent ASE certified mechanics came up!!! I thought this should be the place to even give them more jobs! I called them to make sure they carry the particular Mobil 1 oil I always use in my car. After a hold on the call the guy on the other side replied «YES» with $ 35 more at the top of Groupon deal they will use my desired oil which was fine to me to pay $ 10+$ 35 for:
Oil change PLUS 120 point Inspection PLUS Tire rotation!!!
I purchased Groupon deal and called this guy for a Saturday appointment. Here is the reply: Already booked for 3 weeks PLUS no Saturday appointments for Groupon customers!!! Still tried to try them made an appointment for 3 weeks later on Friday.
Arriving to the shop give them Groupon voucher asking for the very popular Mobil 1 oil we already agreed on the phone with additional cost, the guy surprisingly replied: we don’t carry that oil!!! Offering another French oil for additional $ 55 or go and cancel the Groupon for refund!!! which I didn’t go for! Considering my 25 miles commute I told them to only rotate my tires and perform 120 points inspection on my car. after waiting for another 30 mins observing the funny way these guys perform 120 INSPECTION by checking the underneath of the car only by eyes for any visual defect or issue!!! no checklist like dealers give you the report at the end! The question is the reference of this 120 points not 10 or even 250!!! They can put for their next ad in Groupon 450 POINTS! I see the previous reviews on
that they are talking good about the same service package which did not take more than couple of mins of their time for the whole package!!! Is that possible for 120 points inspection+tire rotation and oil change in 10 minutes? At the end the guy promised to email me an estimate on the defects they found on the car within 24 hours, which never happened!!!
General Conclusion: The only neath service I received was the tire rotation!!! Never try these unknown Groupon businesses and deals again particularly for the car services unless its your own known mechanics!!!

BEWARE: THIS PLACE IS A SCAM!!!
I never write reviews for Unilocal,but I hope writing my experience here will make you think twice before taking your car to RMS Service.
For the past 6 years, I have been taking my car to a shop in Fairfax city called Happy Auto Shop, but after coming across a living social/​groupon deal (can’t remember which) offering 2 oil changes for the price of 1 at RMS Service, I couldn’t pass it up. After my oil change service was done, Edgar, one of the car technicians had told me that my steering fluid was rapidly leaking and had leaked out to my steering rack. They physically showed me these «problems,» and honestly, I am not the most educated person when it comes to looking at the engine of a car, and they apparently knew that and took advantage of it because I was convinced! Edgar told me that I would need to replace my steering rack, fill my steering fluid which cost close to $ 1000. They seemed overly accommodating, telling me that I could leave my car to be fixed that day and would offer me a ride to whereever I needed to go. Instead, I decided to get a second opinion, and thank goodness I did, because there was nothing wrong with my car besides the fact that my steering fluid was low. So after filling up the fluid, I checked to make sure I didn’t have a major leakage after a week of driving. And nope, no leakage!
I took my car to Happy Auto for my next oil change, and I couldn’t understand why they had not told me that my steering fluid was dangerously low, seeing that we had developed a trusting relationship for 6 whole years. He told me that the last time he checked my car, my steering fluid was full. Funny, how mysteriously my steering fluid disappeared while I was at RMS Service, which constantly makes me wonder whether or not they removed the fluid themselves.
If you are looking for a trusted and loyal auto repair shop, RMS is one to avoid at all costs.

Oh RMS Service, how much do I loathe thee… let me count the ways.
See I usually go to Curry’s for my «routine maintenance» ie. brakes, flushes, the random miscellaneous repair, but they were all booked up this week and I was behind on my maintenance so I wanted to get it done.
Enter RMS. I got my second oil change/​tire rotation from there last week and they did well, so I called for a quote on a brake flush, AC filter change, Engine filter change, and Spark Plugs. They quoted me very competitively and I was comfortable with them from the oil changes so I took the appointment.
I dropped my car off at about 9:45AM and the gave me a ride back to work, which was very nice of them. At about 1PM Edgar called and let me know they needed to buy gaskets for the spark plug change, which I said was fine. he also advised me there was evidence of a rodents nest in my old filter. Creepy, I know, but I live in the woods so not so unbelievable. Anywho, he said they were cleaning it up and would not charge me any extra. Bless their souls.
At about 5:15 I show up at the shop to pick up my car, after confirming on the phone that was car was «almost ready». I paid up and was told my car would be done in a few minutes, that they had sprayed some disinfectant and they had to wait before my car could starts. At about 5:45 I get antsy and start walking around.
I see my car, there are like 3 guys working on it, but I thought they were just waiting to start it because of the disinfectant, what’s going on? At 6 another guy comes out and says that because of the rodents nest there was a lot of dirt and debris that needed to be cleaned and they were still working on it. Wait, I thought the cleaning was done, you were just waiting for it to dry? At 6:15 I notice someone going into the drivers seat, but the car won’t start. At this point I walk into the bay and demand to know what’s going on and why my car won’t start when all they claimed to be doing was cleaning. No one really addresses me, and then a few minutes later someone comes over and tells me that they had found a wire that the rodent apparently chewed through and they were going to fix it. Ummm, why did you lie to me then? Finally they get my car to start, but now the check engine light it on… they have no idea why. At 7:45 I hear a cheer, they got it to start with no check engine light on. Awesome.
So i’m 5 miles down the road and surprise surprise, the check engine light’s back on. I dropped the car off at work and the parents (thanks goodness for them) drove me home.
The next day someone from RMS comes to work to pick up my car and work on it again. Apparently this «rodent» had eaten through some sort of connection between a wire and a sensor which was triggering the check engine light. Great. So why not just tell me that last night instead of lieing to me?
This is where it gets weird. That afternoon they call me and tell me, they found a dead rat somewhere under the hood and they’ll take pictures for me. They come to drop of my car (with no check engine light, YAY) and show me the pictures… of a WHITE mouse. Ummmm, are you freaking kidding me? Our mice out in Great Falls, are all brown thank you. White mice are pets and feeder mice.
Do I believe there was a rodents nest under the hood? YES
But I also believe they either couldn’t put my car back together correctly or caused the damage themselves when they were cleaning the debris.
Lesson Learned, wait for Curry’s…

Called on a Monday to set up an appointment on Wednesday… show up Wednesday and got turned away saying that they didn’t have me scheduled (wasted 1 hour of my day). Your business depends on people coming in, how do you mess up setting appointments. I woudn’t have gone back if it was for the Groupon that I had… finally got my oil change on Monday but they didn’t rotate my tires per the instructions on the Groupon offer. The worst. I wish I hadn’t purchase the 2 oil changes. Not wasting my time there, I’ll just forgo the other oil change.
