These cookies are delish! If I were closer, I would be here more often. Many different kinds to choose from, they are all yummy, it’s hard to decide!

Awesome small business in downtown Chapel Hill. Been wanting to try this place for a little while and finally got to go. My boyfriend and I got the 6 cookies and 2 milks special. We took it across to the church and ate it and people watched. It’s such a nice reminder of simpler days of enjoying cookies and milk with family or friends. They also deliver until 2am and are open until 3am!

OMG!!! The best cookies I have ever had that I didn’t make myself!!! The cookies are served warm in a pizza box type box rather than a bag like most places. They were gooey and fresh. I had the chocolate chip and smores. The chocolate chip cookie was so rich that I had to save the smores cookie for later. I carried it on the plane all the way back to Maryland. It was still tasty the next day. A must visit every time I am in Chapel Hill!!!

I’ve had their cookies before; a friend had brought some cookies for a late-​night gathering, and they were so good, they hit the spot. And a late night cookie place is a genius idea in a college town. I wished I had access to such a place when I was an undergrad! (I had to make my own if I wanted a cookie fix.) Today, I had their peanut butter cookie and their white chocolate and macadamia nut cookie. They were nice and soft, just like how I love them! And they both had bags of flavour; they were so good! One other nice surprise: the white choc mac nut cookie also had coconut in it! The last time I had one this good was when I was in Maui (and Maui cookies are indescribably good). Well done on the cookies! I’ll definitely be back. :)

Awesome concept! Who of us hasn’t at one time or another had a sweets craving super late? Insomnia Cookies serves to those customers, and the cookies are warm and gooey, yummm!

First off, they used to have a guy that worked there who was customer service oriented. Now they have someone new who works in the afternoon and when he’s there they are cash only – never accept cards. What’s with that? He also rolls money up and sticks it oddly in the drawer. Maybe he’s the owner. If so, he really needs a lesson in customer service because he’s the worst! I dropped in and needed to place a large cookie order for an event at work. All I heard about was how he couldn’t fill it. I asked if I could leave him my number and I’d come back for them (this was prior to them delivering earlier in the day). He said he couldn’t do that either. Eventually I just bought what cookies he had, but he put six of them in a tiny styrofoam container and if you’ve had their cookies, you know that all that will get is six cookie mush. They had plenty of boxes, why do that? Placed an order online (separate time) for delivery and received an error message. I tried calling their number to see if my order actually went through and was on hold for more than a half hour. I finally hung up and our cookies were delivered about 35 minutes after that. Today, I stopped back in thinking I’d surprise the gang at work. Credit card machine is down and the same lame guy behind the counter who doesn’t wash his hands and uses the spatulas for other things than scooping cookies.
Sad, great concept, horrible execution. And if he’s the owner, then heaven help us all.

If I told you this place delivers cookies until 3am? What would you say? That’s crazy, right? I know that’s what I said!
So it was definitely around 1:30am when we decided to throw back a few warm ones. Totally worth it! I got a Snickerdoodle and a Double Chocolate Chunk. They were so good, how could you go wrong. We sat outside on a bench on Fayetteville Street people watching. It was a fun ending to our night. I know I have seen the Insomnia Cookies on Gleenwood so FYI if you ever need your fix and aren’t in Chapel Hill, there is one in Raleigh.

Yet another whole in the wall place. Very small so keep your eye out for it when trying to find it. The gentleman who helped us was very nice, and the young woman who made our cookies did a great job. And there was a gentleman coming down the stairs who made sure to ask if we were enjoying ourselves, a very friendly place.
I’m from California. So this place had me in a state of culture shock. While we were waiting for our turn to order and man walked in delivering milk. Call me a dork but I thought that was so cool, I mean who gets milk delivered anymore like an actual milk man. And my auntie informed me they will also deliver your cookies tell 2 in the morning! How crazy cool is that.
If anything the only down side is the place is surrounded by college kids cause the place is right next to the beautiful college. But if your patient it really shouldn’t be a problem!

I’ve had their cookies twice, and both times I really enjoyed them. The s’mores cookie is my favorite. It really does taste like a s’more and the chocolate is warm and gooey on the inside. It’s a bit of a mess to eat, but definitely worth it. The first time I went, the cookie was very warm and freshly baked; absolutely delicious. The second time, the cookie was not as warm, but the chocolate was still gooey on the inside. I would recommend Insomnia as a good place to get a late night snack.

How this place stays up with three late night employees and so little traffic, I have no idea. Meanwhile, their cookies are darn good and won’t set you back too much. While I’m not cookie monster, the served warm, chewy cookie hit the spot. Whether you have a sweet tooth or a a case of too much alcohol I can’t imagine anyone complaining about the cookies here.

The idea is really good and they really benefit from students’ late night sweets cravings. I’ve never ordered in the restaurant but have ordered over the phone a few. It’s odd to me that you don’t order at the actual store, but rather at a national center that sends the order to the speciric store. The people over the phone are always helpful and nice.
The main issue I have is the inconsistency of the chapel hill store. Sometimes they get the order right, but sometimes they don’t (wrong cookies, missing cookies, etc). Many times they’ll tell you the order will take 45 minutes and they’re there in 15 but sometimes it takes an hour. Most of the time the cookies are warm and gooey and delicious but then sometimes they’re hard and cold. For a place that delivers, I would expect much better quality assurance for their deliveries. Particularly when the orders are usually so inexpensive (as far as deliveries go) that it makea having to drive twice to any given location a waste of money.
Finally, the «standard» cookies are okay-​priced, but the pricea of the deluxe cookies and milk are outrageous and the deluxe cookies are not even worth the extra money. The cookies are good but nothing out of the ordinary and they certainly could be more creative or unique with their menu choices.

I walked in ordering 4 dozen cookies, and they were super friendly and helpful as well as quick. I’ve always liked insomnia cookies. They’re the perfect snack for late night studying in college or just whenever you get a craving for sweets. They’re very soft and gooey since they keep them warm as if they just came out of the oven. Perfect with a glass of some sort of milk or tea!

Warm cookies at midnight, what more could a college student ask for? Insomnia has found a great niche near campuses nationwide and Chapel Hill is no different. They offer a great deal where you get 3 free chocolate chunk cookies with a delivery order. You can get 10 or so cookies for under $ 10 which is a great deal for hot cookies.
The cookies themselves are very good, especially when hot. My favorites are the peanut butter cup, s’mores, and anything chocolate.
Customer service through their national call center is above average – I have had to call them on a few occasions and they’ve been helpful. I’ll be seeing a lot of Insomnia in the few years and I’m sure not complaining!

I like the concept of a cookie store open late and catering to night-​goers. The flavors were simple but sounded good: stuff like smores, double chocolate chip, mint chocolate chip, etc. Even the name of the store carried a sort of appeal. However, I just couldn’t like the cookies very much.
I got a double chocolate chunk and a regular chocolate chip cookie. Both were too sweet, did not taste very chocolate-​y, and the consistency was pretty average. I picked out a few of the chocolate chunks from the choco chip cookie to taste individually, and they were nice — tasted like Hershey’s. But unfortunately this was overpowered by sort of a bland sweetness of the cookie base. I’m making it sound a lot worse than it actually was though. They’re above average cookies, nothing amazing but a good fix for a late night cookie craving.

I had a Smores cookie, which was rich, warm, gooey, and the chocolate chunks were wonderfully melted. However, at almost $ 3, the «deluxe» cookies are too overpriced. The «regular» cookies (all the simpler cookies) are cheaper though. These cookies are great for the occasional caloric splurge.

We order these cookies to our office once a week, and they are delicious. Skip the usual suspects (sugar, snickerdoodle, and white chocolate macadamia nut) and go for all the chocolates: double chocolate chip, mint chocolate chip, smores). Go for whatever the special sampler of the day is, it’s much cheaper to order that way (usually works out to $ 1 – 1.50 per cookie).
TIP: if you order online for delivery, even though delivery doesn’t start until 4pm, they are usually there early!

I never thought i would be leaving a less than 4 star review on a cookie place, but it has to be done. Stopped by on a Saturday night to get my dessert fix and cookies seemed like the perfect solution. The display case was full of mouthwatering display cookies and looked amazing! I ordered the peanut butter cookie and the triple chocolate chunk with the girl at the counter, who told me it would take at least 5 minutes for the cookies to come out of the oven. Sure, I told her, I could wait.
A big family of people came in and started chatting with her at the counter — they were accompanied by someone who I assume also worked at the store, as she was wearing an Insomnia Cookies uniform. They ended up ordering a big box of cookies and they received all their cookies right away. This was a little surprising, since the girl had told me ALL of the cookies were in the oven except the s’mores flavor, but they clearly ordered more than just s’mores cookies. Hmm, special treatment much? Additionally, the girl who came in with them and was wearing the uniform was supremely unprofessional — she was dissing something/​somebody/​some business loudly while complaining to the cashier — it wasn’t directed at me or the customers but it felt really uncomfortable to have her raging about it so openly.
A couple other people came in afterwards and had to wait before being served — presumably they were not on first-​name terms with the cashier — and at this point way more than 5 minutes had passed. I took up a seat right in front of the counter so I could look pointedly at the cookies lest my order be completely forgotten. Finally, she motioned to me to come up for my order and I took it, opened it to find only one cookie, though I had ordered two. It wasn’t even the right flavor. I ordered peanut butter and she gave me the peanut butter cup cookie. I felt like it was a moot point at that point and ended up just asking for the other cookie that I had ordered, forgoing the original peanut butter that I’d actually ordered.
At first I was really ecstatic with the cookies and was totally willing to overlook the other issues, but the cookie was completely undercooked. It was warm and «fresh», I guess, but it was super mushy on the inside, not in a good way. Also, I probably should have asked her to give me the peanut butter cookie I ordered instead of the peanut butter cup because the peanut butter cup basically tasted like diabetes and cavities — it was SO SWEET that my teeth actually ached. That coupled with the mushy warm dough made it impossible to swallow — I ended up throwing it away.
Dunno if it was an off day for them or what, but doesn’t matter — I’m not coming back.

the cookies are good but expensive. i mean, its just a cookie. Plus, they have this really corky confidence. idk where does it come from

Insomnia Cookies is an interesting concept (I’ve never seen a restaurant that primarily sells cookies before), so needless to say I was a bit intrigued as to what my experience would be like as I entered it’s doors.
I was not disappointed, to say the least. Immediately upon entering, the warm aroma of freshly baked cookies will fill the air. I ordered the «Triple Chocolate Chunk Cookie», and it was ready for me in under two minutes.
The Cookie was so warm and gooey, I merely touched one of the chocolate chips nestled into it, and it melted between my fingertips. It was without a doubt, the best cookie I have ever had in my entire life.
I know this place also sells Ice Cream and Brownies, but I’ll have to come back for those another time, as for now, this cookie is as good as it gets!

Stumbled upon Insomnia Cookies while wandering the streets of Chapel Hill, and decided to sample some of the variety. The store smelled lovely inside; if anything, go into the store and just take a sniff, I guarantee you will feel better.
A friend and I decided to split a snickerdoodle and another friend got a smores cookie with ice cream. While the cookies were warm, they were definitely too buttery and too soft for my taste. All in all, cute concept but would rather look elsewhere for my dessert options.
