Description

Specialties

Generations have visited the gallery to take in the beauty of nature through Mrs. Anne Worsham Richardson’s watercolor paintings depicting birds in their habitats. Renown not only for her artistic ability, Anne Worsham Richardson was a conservationist who maintained a federally permitted bird sanctuary where she cared for baby and injured birds.

The gallery also showcases works from Nancy Rushing and Alice Stewart Grimsley, featuring scenes of the low-country and beyond. Custom framing for works is available.

History

Established in 1972.

Established by Anne Worsham Richardson and her husband John Peter, the artist’s family continues to exhibit her originals and prints. While maintaining her gallery Mrs. Richardson rescued orphaned and injured birds with a permit from the US Dept of Fish & Wildlife.

Anne Worsham Richardson used the birds as models and conservation education. Recently, the Verner Family contacted the gallery and now we are honored to exhibit the new giclee prints of one of Mrs. Richardson’s most highly regarded mentors, Elizabeth O’Neill Verner.
