Roadrunner is awesome. I have used them twice. The latest move included a day of packing and a full day of move.
Roadrunner movers work hard, take care with your items and do it at a better value than their competitors. Their movers are friendly and trustworthy. I would recommend them for any move.

I used Roadrunner for a second move from Boston to Florida, and the experience was once again excellent. Every interaction with the office staff was friendly and professional — I have contacted other moving companies and customer service is not always important to them, but working with Roadrunner is such a pleasure. I knew that my crew took an interest in my move and in me – I was getting friendly emails and when I panicked a couple of times thinking about such an overwhelming move, they calmed me down and reassured me. Nicest people ever. They packed my apartment and loaded the truck on the same day, only to make it easier for me. Everything was packed safely and arrived undamaged. Nothing was lost. My driver kept in touch with me during his trip, and rearranged his schedule when I explained that I would be starting a new job the day after he arrived with my belongings. So he was ready to go in the morning, and got the job done quickly, which was a relief. Pricing was explained very thoroughly and there were no surprises, and it was very fair. I really do recommend this company without reservation. I only wish they were in Florida!

These guys are amazing. They’re extremely careful but will clear out your packed belongings in the blink of an eye. We had a nightmare move into a new home and the closing times kept changing. We had to stretch the move from 1 day to 3 days, and they were awesome about it accommodating us the whole way, including storing our stuff overnight. I thought overnight storage would cost a fortune but they did it for $ 150, not bad for a last minute moving expense.
After this, I’m never moving again, but if I did, I’ll use Roadrunner again in a heartbeat. They were the best part of the experience.

Process of making arrangements was really easy — mostly done via email. We needed to have belongings picked up in Virginia and New Jersey. They provided clear pricing, accurate schedule, and no surprises. The guys who did the run were very nice to our parents (in VA and NJ), packed up the stuff, and met me early on a Saturday (maybe not their first choice, but were nice about it). Very happy with the service and will use them again, for sure.

We had such a good experience moving from Somerville to San Francisco with Roadrunner a few years ago, and when I called to get recommendations for a move from San Francisco to Kansas City MO I wasn’t expecting that we could work with them again — but it turned out that there was a delivery in our area around the time we would be moving. Just as before, everything was carefully planned, all my questions answered, and the two-​stage move went smoothly. Dave and Sabrina at the office were a pleasure to talk to and helped address any issues that came up during the planning, creatively solving any problems. Dave L. and Paulo managed the move with skill and care, quickly and with good humor, and the crews in CA and MO were professional and hard-​working. I recommend Roadrunner as the first company to call when you’re planning a move, local or long distance. Excellent work!

Worth every penny!
I’ve moved a lot and I finally decided that it was time to hire movers. Roadrunner was recommended by my sister-​in-​law and they did not disappoint.
From the initial phone call, they were professional and direct. All expectations were clearly laid out, including a quote, hours, and what to do beforehand to make things smooth. It was $ 160/​hr (including transportation time) with no extra hidden costs. What I appreciated most was even after investing in that conversation, they told me to call back if I decided to go with them, after shopping around.
The 3 man team, led by John, arrived on time and we began right away. These men were truly amazing with their speed and dexterity. It was so hard to just stand around and watch them, but honestly, we were exhausted from just the watching.
After coming in 2 hours under the quote, the crew gave me options of setting up certain rooms or assembling furniture. These were extra things I just didn’t even realize were part of the whole service. I really commend these men on their hard work ethic and positive attitude.

Great, dependable service. Their estimates are good and they usually come in under that amount. They ensure everything in packed securely and help out where extras need to be prepacked, wrapped or padded.

These guys are great! I’ve used them to move twice, and boy do these guys HUSTLE! You are paying by the hour, so you’d think they’d dawdle (which most moving companies do), but these guys are super fast! Granted I didn’t have a ton of stuff (1 BR apartment), but the whole move only took a few hours.
They’re also super friendly and the manager will call after the move to make sure everything was okay and that you were satisfied.

We just used Roadrunner for our move from Boston to NYC, and they are absolutely fantastic. Best experience I have had with a moving company to date. I have a lot to say about them, but for those of you who just want the quick answer, here’s my 2 part review.
The short review:
From the first time I spoke with Dave, who runs the show, to and through payment, they made the process as easy and hassle free as moving can ever be. Friendly, honest, communicative, transparent, and simply good people (which is hard to find in the moving company world). Overall, I recommend them for your next move 100%, without question. And we will definitely be calling them for our next move.
The longer story:
Getting An Estimate
We had originally planned on doing the move ourselves, but about a week and a half out, we realized that we were being foolish and there was no way we could swing it alone. I called Dave I believe on a Wednesday or Thursday morning (we were moving the following Friday), and he gave me an over the phone quote, but said he’d be able to do a more accurate assessment after taking a look, which he promptly said he could do the following morning. Dave spent about 20 minutes at our place– during which he was approachable, friendly, and genuinely interested in our move and what we would be doing in NYC. He actually agreed that we had less furniture/​fewer items than he expected, and gave me a lower price than his initial quote– which he said was binding and the company would not exceed. Huge plus. He also told me that the same crew that picked up my stuff would be the crew that delivered it. In an industry not known for transparency and communication, it was a great start. Knowing that our stuff wouldn’t be switched from truck to truck, crew to crew, definitely gave us peace of mind.
Pick Up In Boston
Fast-​forward to moving day. The crew– Bob, Joe, and one other guy who unfortunately I am forgetting his name (Mike, I think?)– showed up on time, right on schedule. Just like Dave, the guys were incredibly friendly and seemed like genuinely good guys, and Bob in particular shared many tales from his time as a mover and more. Funny guy, and made the whole process nicer. They were extremely efficient and quick, but simultaneously very careful with all of our furniture and delicate items. They knew exactly what they were doing and were extremely professional. We packed most of our stuff ourselves, and relied on RR to wrap up all the furniture and secure it, as well as load up all of our boxes. They completed the whole process in just about 1.5 hours. The good experience continues.
Delivery In New York
The next day (Saturday), Bob and Joe arrived as promised just about on-​time at our new place in Manhattan. Unfortunately, there isn’t a loading dock at the new place, and they had to park the truck on a side street– which meant carrying everything down a parking ramp, through a hallway, and into the freight elevator and finally up to our place. Even though there were only 2 of them at the drop off, Bob and Joe worked furiously, but again very carefully. They were able to navigate a very hectic street area in Manhattan (Financial District), and unload all of our belongings in just about 2 hours. Nothing broken, nothing damaged. And again, just like with the pick up, they were friendly, polite, professional, and funny throughout the process.
Payment
I have used moving companies before that are cash only, and that make you pay up front before they even unload your stuff at the new place. Shady. Not the case with Roadrunner. Only after every item was unloaded, and I was given the chance to check and ensure nothing was damaged (particularly electronics), then did we get around to payment. Bob took me through, line by line, exactly what I was being charged for, why, and how much. Very clear and simple process. We moved a 1BR for under $ 2000, which I consider to be a great deal.
In Conclusion
As I said in my ‘short review’, I cannot recommend these guys highly enough. I’m genuinely shocked at the one or two poor reviews here, because I honestly can’t imagine a bad experience with this crew of people, and Dave, after working with them on this move. If nothing else, when considering a move, you owe it to yourself to talk to Dave and have him give you an estimate, and then trust your gut after meeting him. My guess is, like me, once you meet him, you’ll know this is the right company for the job.

Not as good as they seem?
I used roadrunner because of the high reviews. I should’ve trusted my gut when Dave, one of the owners who came to do the estimate, mentioned that they would have more reviews on Unilocal,but apparently Unilocal deletes some of their reviews, because they violate the Unilocal terms of service by asking customers to write good reviews. He was trying to vouch for how many reviews they (would) have, but the take-​away is that the 5 star reviews weren’t written spontaneously for good service. And I can see why people would write reviews, just for being asked. Dave comes across like this good ol’ every-​man that you want to like and do a favor for, like writing a good review … until you have to get down to business with him.
Pick Up in Boston
The movers that showed up were college kids on a summer job — one of the guys even admitted such — definitely not what I was paying for! They had no idea how to handle my belongings. The items that I was advised to leave for them to pack, I absolutely could have done a better job myself. They also loaded items on the truck with boxes marked «Extremely Fragile — China» underneath book boxes. In later correspondence with Dave, he said the origin movers even mentioned that the boxes were crushing while loading the truck.
Aside from NOT being professional movers, the service was FAR from white glove. I had done my move-​out cleaning prior to the movers arriving, as my one way flight to Las Vegas was that night. I advised the movers of this ahead of time too. Some floor dirt is to be expected, but they peed on my toilet seat! Gross.
Packing
I paid $ 6500 for movers because I am not a professional mover but honestly could have done a better job myself.
We did the packing ourselves, but Dave advised me to leave certain expensive and fragile items for the movers to pack and wrap. The level of STUPID that went into the movers’ packing and wrapping is honestly unfathomable.
I had a large silk flower arrangement that I was advised to leave for the movers to pack. (Anyone who’s bought a silk flower centerpiece knows they’re not cheap; this one was $ 300!) The movers took a moving blanket, tightly wrapped and rolled the arrangement (crushing all the flowers), and threw it in the truck, not even in a box! When it arrived, it was irreparably crushed, bent out of shape, and leaves and flowers were falling off everywhere.
They promised me free wardrobe boxes in which to pack my hangable clothing items. After I loaded my clothes into the boxes, they piled all other miscellaneous and fragile items in the bottom of the wardrobe boxes, both wrinkling the clothes, and breaking the items in the bottom. Items just thrown in the bottom of the wardrobe boxes included a $ 1,000 wall clock. Thank God it wasn’t broken, but really, just throwing a wall clock in the bottom of a wardrobe box filled with clothing? The level of stupid is ridiculous.
They also use elastic bands instead of packing tape to secure blankets to furniture. Sounds like a good idea in theory; unless you have leather furniture. The elastic bands left deep gouges in the leather furniture that still haven’t completely gone away.
And the above are just a couple examples of a multitude of «what were they thinking» moments.
Delivery in Las Vegas
The movers that showed up at the destination with the driver at least appeared to be professional movers, and were much cleaner than the origin guys, but they were lazy! I had to hound them to bring upstairs things upstairs, and even watching them like a hawk, I still ended up with a good deal of items just stacked in the garage.
The boxes were also completely crushed, with boxes marked «extremely fragile — china» left in my kitchen completely crushed beneath heavier items.
Dealing with the Company
When I started unpacking the demolished kitchen boxes, I had unpacked 8 and every single one had broken items. I called Roadrunner right away to get the ball rolling on some sort of compensation for all the damage. It was only 5pm my time, but 8pm on the East Coast, so the receptionist who answered paged Martin, one of the owners. He was SO RUDE to me on the phone, saying things like «Oh, well, go ahead, write your bad review, it’s not my problem!» and «What do you want me to do about this??»
Long story short, after months of back and forth with the company, they agreed to pay me the $ 150 that the insurance was paying for a damaged dresser, and then reimburse the total damage otherwise. I thought that sounded fair, and accepted, expecting a check for $ 875 — a number explicitly stated by Dave and repeated and agreed to by me. A check for $ 625 showed up in the mail. At this point, I’m just done dealing with them. Absolutely terrible.

UPDATE
I put up photos of some of the damage but RR had them removed from Unilocal on the grounds that they didn’t represent the «typical» customer experience. One more reason to take the positives on here with a grain of salt!

Once again, Roadrunner I love you. My roommate and I scoured Craigslist for a sectional that would fit up our teeny tiny dollhouse like staircase in Beacon Hill. We finally found it but realized – oops. We only have a sedan and we’re weaklings. I rang up my buds over at Roadrunner and Dave was absolutely amazing. He was accomodating and communicative. He didn’t mind that we had to call back and rearrange like 3 times because our Craigslist seller was a real pain in the A. They squeezed us into their busy first week of the month schedule on short notice. As usual, well priced and pleasant. I’ll stop gushing now. And I’ll try to stop moving so often too. Yikes. Last update, I swear.

Let’s start with a well-​known truth: moving sucks. When my husband and I began planning our Boston/​DC move, we looked up movers on Unilocal,narrowed it down to a list of three highly rated movers, and had all three come to give us an estimate on our move. Truth be told, Roadrunners wasn’t the cheapest, but from the very first moment we talked to them, we had a sense that they were very organized, very honest, and very reliable. The estimator came to our house on time (unlike other movers) and provided a comprehensive (and accurate) estimate.
The morning of the move, four movers showed up right on time, and within three hours, our condo was empty. They were unbelievably careful with our fragile items (mirrors, antique dresser, etc). and also just great guys– sweet, friendly, and kind. When they arrived in DC a few days later, the crew was amazing — in two hours, our apartment was unpacked. All of our stuff arrived exactly it was packed — not a single scratch, dent, or break — and the movers quickly assembled the few items that needed to be put together post-​move. All of this to say, if you’re planning an out of state move, Roadrunner is the way to go. They take a painful process and make it easy.

Words cannot express how amazing my move went from Brookline to Boston. It was my first time moving and it exceeded my expectations. From the first call, their sales person was so helpful in providing information and suggestions in assuring me their company is the best one to work with and that it will be well worth the price. I cannot believe how easy it was to book with them. Other companies were reachable via email and they had questionnaires to fill out and it was so impersonal!
As for the day of the move, it was quick and painless. Matt, BJ and Joe were professional, efficient, patient, careful, nice and hardworking. They told me that road runners is a great company to work for and you can see that in their work ethics, personality and customer relations. They even impressed all of my friends and roommates that they came into contact with! The guys showed my friends and roommates that were there to help me how great they were and how well they took care of my belongings/​furniture. I was even able to make it to brunch on time with friends from out of town. Thought I would have to miss it because of the morning move.
For a person working in the service industry, I definitely appreciate the fantastic service and quality I received. A job well done!
I am going to use this company to help me move across the country for my next move in a year or two.

We used Roadrunner to move our office, and the whole experience was wonderful. Well, you know, as wonderful as moving an office across town can get. The owner came by, did an assessment, gave us a detailed quote that seemed very reasonable — and i got such a good, capable vibe from him. The first time i talked to him on the phone, and was mentioning the building we were moving into, he knew exactly where i was talking about and the unique challenges they might have in the alley out back. Not a problem, though — he’d take care of everything. They did it ALL. And never laughed at my myriad dumb questions and frantic calls about this or that.
Day of the move, the movers came and kicked tons of butt from 8:30am till about 8:00pm that night. Admittedly, we didn’t do the best job preparing but they took care of everything without a complaint and nary a question. There was nothing they couldn’t do for us — and we had some weird requests for them. We actually had more stuff than they thought, so they brought in an extra truck [in addition to the 2 we had planned for], and a few extra guys towards the end of the day. I was a little scared about the end bill… but, miraculously and to Roadrunners credit, our final bill was LESS than the quote.
Just an absolutely stellar experience — and just a bunch of nice guys running the company, and doing the moving. I would use them again in a heartbeat, and wouldn’t bother looking anywhere else.

Roadrunner is by far the BEST moving company I’ve ever moved with. Dave is amazing– he’ll comes to your place, give you an accurate and REASONABLE estimate in less than 20 minutes (w/​low involvement from you) AND will try to throw in perks just cuz he’s so cool. The other moving companies I spoke to required me to take my own inventory, etc. Who has the time for that shit?! Dave did an instant inventory just by looking around!
I was unsure of my exact move date and address and they worked with me on scheduling just days before the actual move! Not only that, but he was easy to get a hold of, and beyond friendly.
I had the movers pack me up and although they were short one guy, they were completely thorough and overly careful. They asked questions about what went in what box, and wrapped everything to a T. Not only that, but they barely took one break in 6 hours.
Side note: If you have furniture built from Ikea, let them know UPFRONT! Ikea furniture is shit and falls apart during a move. My dresser broke, but I was fully reimbursed for it. In all honesty, it was my fault for not warning them ahead of time that it was made of flimsy materials. Regardless, they were fully apologetic and courteous about it. Word of advice: don’t try to move with Ikea furniture. Just chuck it and buy new Ikea furniture. There’s a reason it’s so cheap… it’s because it’s disposable!
Moving into my new NY apt. (from Boston) was a breeze (they even held my stuff in storage for 3 days with no extra cost)! Roadrunner helped me get all the proper documents and worked with my building Super on ensuring I had mover’s insurance. The move could not have gone more smoothly. EVERYTHING was accounted for– they didn’t lose anything! Not only that, but they’ll help you move the furniture around if it’s too heavy for you!
I wish I had used Roadrunner for every move I’ve done in the past. No stress, no fuss, and amazing to work with!

Dave was really great in terms of setting up the move and estimating the cost of the move without even seeing my stuff. Omero and his three fellow movers were prompt and very efficient. They definitely followed through on everything that they promised.
My move involved a stop at a storage place and then to my house in Cambridge. They took the time to wrap my furniture and inventoried every item. It was delivered to NY half an hour early and unloaded quickly. It’s definitely worth it to pay these guys to do your moving for you.

This was a phenomenal experience, the whole way through. Great guys, professional, friendly, and fast as heck.
Pre-​Move
In soliciting bids for my move, RRMS was the only company who routinely answered my phonecall — I always got a live person, who was very courteous, whereas the other companies I was getting bids from rarely if ever picked up on the first call, and we engaged in constant email volleys. While I understand these are small companies and are constantly on the road, I got increasingly anxious as the date approached and I had barely any contact to speak of, so having someone who I knew would be there put me at ease.
Moving Day
They showed up not with 3 guys, as we had agreed, but with 4, and only charged me an extra 20 bucks for the job. Sweet! The guys moved my entire apartment into a large truck in less than an hour, we met at my new place and they unpacked in less than an hour. With standard travel time included the whole move was just about where I had expected price wise, and it was smooth as glass. Super friendly, very professional.
I would definitely recommend them for any move — it was a totally painless and even pleasant experience!

I moved from Malden to Back Bay a few weeks ago. Roadrunner was very knowledgeable, quick, easy and painless.
They showed up when they said they would, the charged me what they said they would, and were even accommodating whenever I changed my move date up a week.

I moved from the North End to Kendall Square about a week ago. I lived in a building on Hanover Street on the fifth floor with no elevator.
I checked out Unilocal to figure out the best movers and figured I could do no wrong with these guys considering their ratings. Also, the other movers I talked to were quoting almost a thousand bucks more than they were.
These guys were great! They were always on time and were great about keeping me in the know. They came to my apartment a few weeks before the move to give me and estimate and the actual move ended up costing about 500 bucks less!
The day of the move went great– the guys were VERY impressive and quick bringing things down the five flights of stairs. All of my stuff arrived at the new location much earlier than expected and all in original condition. I will definitely be using these guys again.
