Description

Specialties

Karma Vineyards is a family-owned and operated vineyard, winery and restaurant. Originally opened in August 2007, Karma has grown to be one of the few French method champagne houses in the Pacific Northwest.

Owners Bret and Julie Pittsinger are proud to produce Lake Chelan AVA (American Viticultural Area) wines with a strong commitment to sustainable farming. Currently, Karma grows just under fifteen acres of grapes, including Gewürztraminer, Syrah, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Riesling and Pinot Meunier. Their signature Méthode Champenoise utilizes 40% of their estate production.

History

Established in 2007.

The story behind Karma is one originally inspired by Bret and Julie Pittsinger’s desire to teach their young children the value of work and sacrifice. Bret grew up on an apple orchard and developed his work ethic by working the land. He and Julie decided to look for a similar way of life for themselves and their children. In 2004, Bret and Julie had a first look at a parcel of land and decided to purchase it. With this they began the realization of their dream to produce their own wines from their own grapes, and named it Karma. The name comes from a combination of their children’s names: Karle and Matthew. Karma was meant to be just a vineyard. After farming for a year and selling grapes, Julie and Bret decided they wanted to have their own wine label. Julie enrolled in the Washington State University viticulture program, from which she graduated in 2007. Karma Vineyards opened its doors in August 2007.
