This particular R&K lacks customer service. Why make an appointment if you’re not going to keep it? I understand that things can run over the allotted time, but they cared so little nobody bothered to keep me informed as to how much longer my wait would. I sat for over 20 minutes watching more than a few stylists sit and chat longer than it usually takes to cut my hair. Hell, there were two girls behind the reception desk that could’ve checked on the time instead of being face down in there cell phones texting. I’ve been to this location a few times and will admit there are some great stylists here but overall there is a blatant disregard for customer satisfaction. The silver lining here was that I got to walk out without having lost money. For the waste of my 25 – 30 minutes of time I promise to go out of my way to keep people from patronizing this location.

I normally never leave reviews but I have been a receptionist at a salon and I have to comment on how poorly I was handled. I came in because I was shopping in the mall and I decided to go in to have someone consult me about a box color gone wrong… The receptionist went in the back to ask a stylist to come talk with me but she came back to tell me that the stylist were«busy» & I should come back tomorrow. I only had a few questions and it’s very unprofessional for a stylist to not take care of customers that come into the salon. Every single customer should be treated the same and not given a «Oh sorry, I’m busy» spiel. I will take my money elsewhere.

Firstly, I want to say that Crystal is a fantastic stylist, and I would go to her forever if she moved to another salon. The reason for my low rating is that I can’t seem to make an appointment with her any longer! Before my last haircut about a month ago, I called to schedule an appointment and was hung up on twice after being put on hold for at least five full minutes. I had to have a haircut in short order, so I went elsewhere. This time, I noticed that the salon had started accepting online appointments. Hallelujah! So I filled out the request form and sent it in. A day passed, and I finally got a confirmation that the salon had received my request and would contact me shortly. Another two days passed. You get the picture. They finally did call me three days later, but by then I’d already booked elsewhere again. In the immortal words of Sweet Brown — «Ain’t nobody got time for that.» So off I go in search of a new salon. I feel terrible, but I can’t put my life on hold to try to schedule a hair appointment.

Will never go back to this salon! My daughter left sobbing and the stylist made it seem like it was her fault for choosing a style that she liked. It is the stylist’s job to tell a customer what will work with their hair type. The style my daughter showed her was nothing like the final result! An hour later and my daughter is still in tears. The stylist took no responsibility, charged us full price and placed the blame on my daughter’s suggestion rather than her own lack of explanation or education about the style and outcome. Very unhappy with this salon.

Both of my daughters get their hair cut and styled here. They stylists are super friendly. They make my shy 10 year old feel like a grown up. Once I dropped my 16 year old off while I shopped. Her stylist actually called my cell to see if it was okay for my daughter to add a deep conditioning service. I appreciated the call instead of her just doing it and adding in the charge.

If I had decided to write this review the beginning of this year it would definitely not be as generous as the one I will be giving. I had a terrible experience the first time I visited Rudy & Kelly, as a girl just out of cosmetology school was given responsibility for my first spiral perm since I was a kid. I should have given in to my reservations, however it is the responsibility of the employees to know what stylists are experienced enough to undertake certain projects. Needless to say, the spiral perm did not come out even remotely uniform, and the cut that was given to compliment the curls, did no such thing. The second time I visited, I made sure to request a designer stylist, and I have no regrets in doing so. I love my haircut, and I even decided to get color as well. The second stylist definitely saved my opinion of the salon, as I was determined to give them a second chance. I would recommend you expect to receive what you pay for. There is a reason they have the stylists divided into four categories based on expertise.

It was my «main» hair salon in Chesapeake, VA. Most of the hairstylists were awesome and down to earth. They have never had messed up my hair. I trust this place. Be prepare to shell a little more of money than you usually spend at the hair salons.
