Established in 2007.

I have been a skin care therapist for 14+ years and I love working with people and helping them with their skin conditions.

I have a passion for all things skin, and love that skin care is a science so it is always evolving and improving.

Before opening A+ Skin Care I worked with a Facial Plastic Surgeon, and also many spas and wellness centers.

I work independently so that I can provide my clients with expert care. I enjoy educating clients and answering their skin care questions and catering to their needs.

I’ve been following Amy around the city for more than 10 years. She is amazing, hilarious and professional. She makes getting a Brazilian seem like a coffee date with a great friend. Her facials are excellent and she gives great skincare advice. I wouldn’t go anywhere else!

A 90 Minute Facial that isn’t an upgrade? Sign me up! Amy is spunky & über sweet. She really cares about you & your skin. She didn’t reprimand me for sitting in the sun the past weekend & over-​tanning my face. Instead, Amy cheerfully mentioned to use a facial moisturizer with sunscreen daily. Made me feel comfy. Can’t wait to go back as my face was glistening & radiant after her service!!!

I have been going to Amy for about 2 years now & this review is long overdue. I have tried many different Spas & facial boutiques but NONE of them can compare to the level of service/​care you receive from Amy. Last year I came to Amy with really bad acne in my cheek area, when I left I had the most glowing acne free skin, I just couldn’t believe that my face was so smooth. She gave me samples of the products that she used & others that she recommend I try. To this day I still use the Dermalogica Microfoliant & Sonya Dakar sunscreen.
Amy really cares about her clients, you won’t find another that can come close to the work she does. Her main focus is always you and making you look & feel your best. She doesn’t push products on you, they speak for themselves.
Some people pay for gym memberships and never go, I pay for facials.

Amy is Fabulous! Her services are top notch and she has a great personality. I have always gone to Amy for my waxing needs. I have followed Amy for years and would not think of seeing anyone else for a bikini wax. Her facials are amazing and her attention to detail always impresses me… When you find an aesthetician like Amy, you never go elsewhere!

Although I appreciated Amy’s attention to detail during extractions, I never felt quite comfortable there based on several conflicting observations:
— She is ultra-​friendly on the phone, but at times it’s difficult to end the conversation, for example, when at work or driving. A couple of times I almost had to hang up because I felt my verbal cues were being ignored. So she seems to take a great interest in customized treatment, but when I made my second appointment, I said, «I’d like exactly the treatment you did last time — it was perfect!» Her response: «Well, I have a lot of clients so you’ll have to tell me what you got.» Gee, I don’t know — I showed up, she took a look at my skin, and then went through about 7 — 8 steps. I don’t know what the name was and the treatments are NOT listed on her site.
— On my second visit, I was about 15 minutes early. While the salon clients were offered hot tea, I was brushed over since I was an Amy client. Amy popped out and sort of scolded me for being early — it was so awkward I could only assume she was joking, but then when she was 25 mins late (making that 40 mins of waiting for me), there was no apology.
Then, during the facials, I just got wierded out. There was a funny energy coming from her that did not allow me to relax. I knew she would do a great job, but I just wanted it to be over with and get out — both times.
My skin did not feel pampered, per se — she is all results, and the results are good. The woman is a perfectionist when it comes to the complexion. She’s also efficient once she starts on you.
So if you have no intuition and are easygoing about customer service, you might end up loving your facial, but to me, a sense of welcome and a sense of peace in such a place is important. I prefer a place, like Elina Organics with Nadia, where I get perfect, glowing skin and a sense of tranquility — an escape from stress.
One more tip — there is no transparency into the pricing since treatments are not listed online, which made me a bit uneasy.

I’ve recently visited A+Skin Care after a long day at work and I had the most relaxing facial treatment! Amy is a true professional and I’ve been recommending her services to almost all people I know ever since.
Who would have thought you had to wear sunscreen everyday?! Now I know and I try to follow the regiment she suggested as regularly as possible. I love all the Sonya Dakar Skin Care products I was able to purchase at the end of the treatment and now my skin feels great and hydrated during this nasty winter.
Great customer service, great products and the best facial in Chicago!!!

Amy stepped in when my favorite waxing place mysteriously closed and didn’t inform any of the customers. I wanted to keep my business in the ‘hood and happily found Amy based on Unilocal reviews. I am big into customer loyalty, but between moving and unexpected closings I’ve had to bounce around a bit in a waxing Army-​brat style. Upon even scheduling my appointment with Amy, she sounded so enthusiastic and excited to introduce me to A+. As an added bonus, she texts so there seems to be no need to worry about stepping out of the office to make calls for unwanted hair. I can text next to my coworkers and no one has a clue!
Once it was time for the big day, I made my way to her private shop at 1500 N. Wells. Amy is extremely inviting and professional, but she crosses into someone who feels like an old friend almost immediately. Her little room is super cozy, Brazilian music appropriately plays overhead, and the place smells amazing. I’ve never seen another aesthetician work with the ferocity that she does either. She is a machine and her system is full-​proof. It was some of the fastest, most efficient service I’ve ever received. Hard wax and soft wax are used and before you know it, you’re done. First time customers get 20% off too! A+!

I am convinced that Amy is the saint of skin. This woman has a halo floating over head. I’ve been dealing with hormonal/​cystic acne on and off for about 5 years, and its been nothing short of awful for 5 months up until a few weeks ago. I’ve been through the ringer with dermatologists putting me on topical after topical treatment that never yielded any permanent results and only made my already sensitive and fair skin more sensitive and red and peely. Finding the right treatment has been a frustrating battle, and the only regret that I have is not having gone to Amy sooner.
I could go on and on about how much Amy has improved my skin (and life, pretty much) in only one phone call and two visits. Her knowledge of her profession is clear, and she not only makes the appointments personal to your specific needs, but she takes the time to listen, carefully examine, and explain everything. She is incredibly thorough and ACTUALLY CARES about the welfare of your skin, whatever the issue may be. She’s also understanding of those on a budget and doesn’t try to push every product. She only recommended that I buy products really worth investing money in and suggested a number of at-​home all-​natural remedies for all other issues.
Basically, I’m recommending anybody that I talk to that mentions a skin issue to her. Since leaving her office, my skin has only gotten clearer and clearer and easier to manage (and look at, hello!).

I initially saw Amy at A+ Skin Care for a Brazilian wax. She did a great job and was very easy going and welcoming. Awesome. BUT I also mentioned that I wanted to talk to her about my acne. I’m 26 and I’ve tried everything under the sun short of oral medications — which I try to avoid. After my wax we talked about my current skincare régime and diet. She offered to wash my face and try a couple products out to see how my skin reacted, free of charge. After my mini facial she suggested I try out two products, so I ended up buying some. After a month there was a very noticeable improvement in my acne I was obviously delighted and very impressed with the product, but more with of her knowledge and attention to individual needs and skin types. I recently ran out of my products — beauty disaster!!! I called Amy to see when I could come pick up more. INSTEAD she offered to come meet me at my work to drop off the goods. That’s right people, products on demand! I mean how much better does it get? It’s like an aesthetician on call. Amy met me at my office that same day. Talk about easy, breezy, beautiful! If you’re looking for someone who is friendly, relaxed, knowledgeable, and personalizes their treatments, look no further. Amy is great and I highly recommend A+ Skin Care.

Amy is awesome. I was referred to her by a friend, and she has done great work. My first time I had never had a facial before and I was a little nervous because I have pretty sensitive skin and was worried it would freak out from all of the different products. But she did a wonderful job, I came out with soft, happy skin, and my blemishes went away quickly after. She also waxed my eyebrows for me and sent me home equipped with some samples and lots of information about how to take care of my skin. I am so happy to have her, because now I don’t have to run to the dermatologist every time something goes wrong with my skin. She is great!

I was referred to Amy from a close friend who knows skin and knows me… I enjoy a facial or two every now and again, but am not regimented or as vigilant with my skin as I should be. So going to an esthetician that I am not very well acquainted with can be intimidating. Not so with Amy.
It’s incredibly rare that you can feel someone’s love of their craft through their hands, but that’s the kind of magic I felt when I was under her care. She took the time to assess my skin problems (overall dryness and congestion on my nose) and was very thorough answering all my questions. Sometimes you may not feel comfortable asking questions when someone uses terms like dermis and dermaplaning, but she explained everything in laymen’s terms, without making me feel uncomfortable or uneducated.
Then she went to work. I believe I got a lactic peel + facial. It was hard to concentrate I was so relaxed. I’m sure there were cleansers, exfoliates, chemical peels, salicylic acid on the nose, virtually painless extractions, and moisturizers but I won’t pretend to know what they were. My favorite part was the massage on my scalp and temples.
Also, to note, when I was finished and dared to take a gander in the mirror, I didn’t even recognize my skin. I mean, I knew it was my skin but it was so soft and dewy. I didn’t even want to touch it for fear or marring it with my fingers. The texture was the kicker, and I felt as if my skin was taking a long awaited sigh.

Amy is amazing. I’m a 20 something guy, but I felt like my skin was clogged up for a few weeks so I wanted a facial. I’ve had a few facials before, but Amy was definitely the best.
She first talked to me for a good 30 mins before setting up an appointment to find out what sort of products I am using and what kind of skin I have. I told her I have extremely sensitive skin so before even doing a facial, she had me come in for a skin assessment and took plenty of time with that. I was impressed enough to schedule a facial the next week, and she did a phenomenal job.
She cleaned everything up very expertly and my skin has been noticeably improved ever since.
So yeah, very nice, very professional and very good at what she does.

This has to probably be one of the best facials I have ever gotten. And I got the pretty city promotion too — so I came with the expectation of being skimped on treatment and time for the price I paid. But nope — she was on point and even did extractions b/​c I told her that’s my fav part of the facial, but it wasn’t included in the promotion price. So sweet. And get this — her facials come with a hand and shoulder and scalp massage. That was such a nice treat — I didn’t want her to stop! Most places charge extra for that.
She gave great advice, gave me some free samples and I left feeling relaxed and refreshed. Oh, and I was glowing, of course! I hope she’s back with prettycity come October!

Amy is great for facials. My skin has improved so much going to her for the past year about every 6 – 8 weeks for a facial. She is great at helping you relax and even does a neck/​shoulder, arm and leg massage at the end of the facial to keep you relaxed. She also has a great line of products and I have been very happy with everything she has recommended to me for skincare in between facials.
I would also highly recommend her for waxing as well. She has done the best and most thorough brazilian I have ever gotten. She spends time removing ingrowns which no other estheticians bother with. I also recently had her do my eyebrows-​she is very conservative and does not over-​pluck.

i originally found amy during the $ 31 deals over a year ago, made an appointment for a micro derm and a peel, and havent even thought of going to anyone else since.
amy is amazing. shes other-​worldly-​caring, thoughtful, insanely knowledgeable, and perhaps most importantly, she has an incredible way of knowing exactly what my skin needs. she takes her time during appointments, plays great relaxing music, and has the ability to make even painful extractions seem like a soothing, enjoyable spa experience.
knowing that im on a budget, she never tries to over-​sell, and goes out of her way to find natural and less expensive solutions for my skin issues.
amy never fails to impress me by going out of her way to make sure my skin is at its best. the last time i was there, dealing with an unusually nasty breakout, amy pulled out her phone and called a nutritionist, to get some information for me about foods that potentially could aggravate acne. and on more than one occasion, she has emailed me to check in and see how my skin is doing post-​treatment.
no matter how busy she is, or how jam-​packed her schedule is, she always takes the time to ask me how im doing, how my job is, how things are with my boyfriend, etc.
i dont have enough fingers to count the number of times that i have called amy in a total panic, (disastrous breakout before big date! peeling, flaky skin before important meeting! zit-​the-​size-​of-​texas, cant leave the house!) and every single time, she has not only fit me in for an appointment and made my skin look brand new, but she has made me feel less stressed and more relaxed.
try her manual microderms and fruit enzyme peels — they are amazing. also, ask about the A.N.D Pumpkin Enzyme Masque — this stuff has changed my life. it decongests pores, keeps acne at bay, and makes your skin the SOFTEST after just one use.
as far as im concerned, amy is a goddess. and a+ skin care is the best kept secret in chicago.

I discovered A+ Skin Care through Pretty in Pink’s $ 31 deals in October. I went in for a facial, and have been going back ever since to get my eyebrows waxed. The facial was fantastic, relaxing, and left my skin feeling and looking great. Amy is very helpful and knowledgeable about products and natural oils that promote healthy skincare and hair growth, which is a huge plus. She is the only person I trust with my eyebrows, and although she is very thorough, she believes (as do I) in keeping them in their natural shape. I would recommend Amy to everyone!

So my boyfriend and I went in for a microderm and peel treatment for each of us. Amy was very accommodating to get both of us in together in the morning.
Her place of work is a one room studio and it was clean and relaxing. Amy did a very good job and she is very informative and knowledgeable on skin care. She answered our questions and gave us good suggestions on products and care. She gave me some samples to try and I saw an immediate difference. My skin had a nice glow.

I visited Amy about two weeks ago for a facial and microdermabrasion. It was the most amazing experience. Not only was I relaxed the entire time, but if I had questions she was completely knowledgeable and could answer on the spot. She goes above and beyond what other spas provide for a much better price. Other spas I’ve been to offer just microderm for $ 150. Amy provides Microderm, a facial, and a short back massage for the exact same price.
I left feeling extremely refreshed and my face felt clean and clear.
She is gracious and does not try to make you buy the products she uses.
I can’t wait for my next session with her!
