Established in 1963.

For more than 45 years, Alco Construction Co. has consistently maintained a reputation for high-​quality new home construction and remodeling in Chicago from clients and peers.

Abram Szwajger founded Alco Construction Co. in 1963. Abram’s original mission was to bring his European craftsmanship and individualized service to clients in Chicago. Abram’s vision and standards have been passed down to a third generation of family ownership, run by daughter Yolanda Schachter and grandson, Lyle Schachter.

In addition to new home construction, renovation, and re-​modeling, Alco Construction Co. is a trusted Contractor with the City of Chicago, and has worked with the Department of Housing for the past 30 years. Our other clients include the Salvation Army, the Archdiocese of Chicago, and Catholic Charities. We have built and remodeled schools, churches, commercial office buildings, personal dwellings, and meeting centers.

Lyle S.

Manager

Lyle Schachter is the Vice President of Alco Construction Co. where he concentrates on new business development. Lyle oversees and coordinates all aspects of new construction. With more than 10 years of experience in the construction field and real estate market, Lyle has directed and managed the development and construction of 50+ newly constructed homes. Lyle is a certified green builder and an Illinois Licensed Realtor. Lyle’s professional affiliations include the Illinois Realtor Association MLSNI and the Illinois Home Builder Association. Lyle earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin — Madison, where he majored in construction management. It is Lyle’s education and dedication to the environment that has allowed Alco Construction to evolve into one of Chicago’s premier affordable energy efficient home builders.
