I’ve started coming to Civello in the past month because I’m new to the neighborhood. I love the Aveda signatures, such as the warm candle smell when walking in, the amazing products, head and shoulder massage, and hand treatment. The stylists also are very experienced. I’m very happy with my color from Addison and my haircut from Claudia. I left here feeling pampered.

I went to Civello for the first time after a coworker recommended it to me. I was very happy with my result! When I first arrived I was offered a choice of refreshments, I asked for a tea, and it was delicious. My colorist, Natalia, did a great job. She understood exactly what I wanted and I am so happy with the results. I received a sensory shoulder massage before my color. Rachel did my cut, and before we even started I had a consult with both stylists so we were all on the same page. When I got my shampoo I also received a hand massage! The salon itself was modern and chic. I am a big fan of Aveda salons and Civello did not disappoint.

Would not recommend at all. Came in asking for a balayage and showed the stylist a picture but she did not understand it and kept questioning what I wanted but what I wanted was on the picture. Not even that, when she was blow drying my hair she did not even use a comb or style it. I left with half wet hair with heavy scents of chemicals on it. I came in to get more blonde but left darker than what I came in with, opposite of what I was asking for and what I paid for. Definitely would not be going here again. The stylist even blamed the darker hair on their«lighting».

Teresa is the best. Always courteous and kind. And Evelyn is always available and I’ve been coming to her for years and she just shines so much that you want to come back for more.

Formerly Michael Anthony, I’ve been going here for my toes(pedicures) for over 8 years. Teresa is amazing and never once have I gone elsewhere for a pedicure, even when girlfriends ask«breakfast & mani pedis?»… Teresa is very talented and professional and makes my feet(often used for running) look amazing every.single.time.(See my previous review of Michael Anthony). I joke with Teresa that I want her to have tons of clients but I always fear that spreading the word on her excellence might mean that I cannot get in to see her… I’m giving you my little secret — you must go to Teresa if you’d like a truly divine pedicure… You’ll be a foot model in no time. More recently I’ve also been going to Adison for my hair — she’s second to none. Not only fun and The staff is great and the salon is lovely & comfy.

I will have to say that the second time seems to be the charm with this place for me! I went in for a cut and color, but was so disappointed to the point of almost tears when I left. The cut was fine, nothing special. The color was the major problem — it was awful and honestly looked like I had done it myself from a box. I let the person who colored my hair know that I wasn’t happy, if nothing else, because the gray was even still showing. She was gracious in her response and told me to wait a week and to call back at that time if I’m still unhappy. I did wait a couple of days before I called back and was quickly connected to management(in Canada!). They handled my complaint very professionally and scheduled me with a senior colorist to fix the problem. I was a little tentative when I arrived at the salon because you never know how well received you will be if you complain. I was so pleasantly surprised! The only way that I can describe it is that I was treated like a VIP client. They had scheduled me with Addison, who could not be nicer and is amazing at color. Right away she noticed in a very professional way the problems with my color and worked her magic to fix it. As she was taking care of my color, Charlie swooped in with the most pampering complimentary hand massage that put me in a relaxed state of bliss. Once my color was finished, Charlie offered to blow dry my hair and wow, she is unbelievable! As she is blow drying my hair into an amazing style that I never even thought my hair could achieve, she is teaching me the entire way about tricks to use at home. It honestly was the most enjoyable salon visit I have had in a long time and like I had fantastic celebrity-style hair! I did buy a brush that day that Charlie recommended, but unfortunately the bristles were falling out. So I returned it and tried again. As I said, the second time is the charm for me — it is my absolute favorite brush that gives my hair a smooth shine that it doesn’t typically have. So, based on all of my seconds with this salon, I would definitely recommend it — especially Team Addison — Charlie! Thank you ladies!!!

Went in a few Saturday’s ago to dye my hair black after reading about Civello in Chicago Magazine being a new holistic salon. I was super hyped about it, but I wasn’t exactly a fan of the lack of stylist/client relationship. I almost felt like a conveyor belt. One person dyed my hair, one person washed my hair, one person dried my hair. Maybe it was just a really busy day, but I just didn’t get the whole personalized vibe that I normally get at other salons. The color is great, and I even spent $ 100 in products, but I didn’t notice until my roommate pointed it out that there were still blonde streaks left in my hair a few days later. For the lady that dried my hair, this is something she should’ve noticed and corrected, but she just let it be. Not cool. I guess that’s what you get when you book your appointment with a junior stylist. I would’ve appreciated going to salon and knowing that my stylists were detail oriented. Oh well.
