I have been coming here for about 6 months for waxing with Pamela, and will never see anyone else! The best waxes I’ve gotten in my 15+ years of waxing– my friend who referred me to the salon described her as «the vagina whisperer,» and it’s the truth. She does sugar waxing, which is less painful and significantly reduces ingrowns. If you have sensitive skin, this place is for you!
I have referred other friends here for waxing and spa services and they have all become regulars. I can’t speak to the hair salon section of the salon, but the spa is on point and the prices are where you would expect from a upper-​middle class salon.
Also, there is a cozy waiting room downstairs that makes you just want to curl up in one of the suede lounge chairs and fall asleep in front of the fire. Plus enough tabloid trash magazines to make your nail place look bad.
In sum, highly recommend the spa. Go to Pamela– she’s the best!

I’ve been coming here for about 3 years. After searching for a great stylist, I found Sarah. I’ve been coloring my hair for 25 years and it’s been almost impossible to find a stylist to match my favorite Nice & Easy #110 natural light auburn hair color. Sarah got it perfect and I will never go anywhere else! She is great at her craft and a joy to be around. I recommend her for color and cut!

Very nice spa area! It’s so beautiful and cozy with couches and a fire place. I went to Brooke, she was awesome!!! I got full legs, Brazilian, eye brows and lip and she did an amazing job on everything. The room was very comfortable and relaxing. I got a compliment on my eye brows not even 20 mins after walking out. I highly recommend the salon and Brooke’s services.

I’ve had Alisa doing my hair for over a year and love my cut and color every time! She does such a good job making it look so natural and pretty! This place has such good customer service as well!

Really love this salon! Very friendly and professional stylists, clean and organized salon area– just all around inviting atmosphere. Alisa B. has been doing my hair for years and she is simply the best! I am seriously a tough critic when it comes to my hair, but she always gets its right and never disappoints! She is very consistent and the color and cut are always spot on.

Rebeca has been an apprentice there for some time and I’ve gone to see her several times over the course of a year and a half. She’s cut, trimmed, and colored my hair – and done a fantastic job doing all three! She’s finally an official stylist there SO ASK FOR REBECA!
I truly love this salon. It’s clean, beautiful, and everyone is super kind. It’s very rare that I frequent a single business often as I like trying new places, but the fact that I’ve gone back there time and time again should be a testament to their consistent quality.

THE SPA
I’ve been seeing Pamela for skincare services for over a year now and she never disappoints. She’s always on schedule, friendly, and offers great new ways to do the same old tricks. She changed my mind completely about waxing, and I’ll never go back to strip waxing for my bikini area. Sugar is the way to go, and she turned me on to it. She’s so easy to talk to and gives great advice about the touchy subject of body hair and problem skin. My next trip will be to get my eyebrows done by Pamela!
THE SALON
I just recently started seeing Marina for the hair on my head. I came in with a disgusting undercut that I did myself, and hair that was in dire need of help. I wasn’t ready to cut it all off yet, and she helped me manage what I had and what I was mentally prepared for. She communicated and made sure I had options as far as styling and maintenance. Did you know that they offer free nape trims!!! Perfect and quick for in between cuts.
About a week ago I returned to see Marina and do the final chop! She did a bang up job. Seriously, one of the best well crafted cuts I’ve ever had. I went from a chin length bob with an undercut; to a dapper, well shaped, scissor faded short style. She listened to what I wanted and then catered it to me. Communicated along the way, and made sure I was comfortable. Gave me great styling tips without pushing products on me, and made sure all my questions were answered.
OVERALL
All of the staff I encounter at JB are great. Great service, friendly, easy to ask questions. The spa and salon are clean and chic. The atmosphere is laid back but done oh so right. I love that there’s a puppy behind the front desk sometimes! I feel like all of these things really speak to their management and treatment of their employees. Exactly where I want to spend my money and take my business.

I’ve been going to Alisa for a very long time and would recommend her to anyone. She is the best stylist I have ever been to.

It’s been a little while since I’ve reviewed JB Salon… but since I’m working with new peeps here now, I think it’s time. I’ve been seeing Marina for my hair for a few years now and continue to be impressed and happy with what she does for my hair. She always has my happiness in mind while balancing that with both what’s best for my hair and what will look the best on me. She is super easy to work with and quick to offer a fix in the extremely rare event that something doesn’t turn out exactly as you like. She’s the bomb.
I’ve also been seeing Pamela for a few years now for all of my esthetician needs… she’s a wiz with her sugary hair removal ways… making it as painless as possible. I’ve struggled with ingrowns in the past but can’t remember the last time I’ve had one with her. She’s also given me facials which were amazing.
All that goodness and on top of that, always a friendly bunch to greet you at the front desk, cute puppies running around and a clean/​bright/​inviting upstairs and cool grotto-​like spa downstairs. I refer all my friends!

I honestly don’t understand the great reviews for this place. It just seemed like a mediocre salon to me. Yes, everyone was friendly and accommodating, but the turnout I got from my hair services was so disappointing that I was hesitant on paying the full price. Luckily, my stylist mentioned a Unilocal discount, which I was very grateful for.
I came in the day before my appointment, looking to consult with a stylist as to what color services I would need to get to achieve the hair color in the photo I brought in. The stylist (Alisa/​Melissa/​something-​isa) was very knowledgable and I was comfortable taking the suggestions she made. So I made an appointment with her the following day.
I came into the salon the next day, got seated in the chair closest to the door, which was pretty chilly. The stylist offered tea and sweets (it was Halloween) and talked to me a bit about what she would do with my hair. She proceeded to shampoo my hair and process it according to the photo I showed her.
The final look was nowhere near the photo I showed her. After mentioning I was unhappy with the result, the stylist reassured me that she wasn’t offended because I immediately felt shitty for saying I didn’t like her work. She was so accommodating, but after a couple more attempts, I just got frustrated and accepted the fact that my hair wouldn’t look the way I wanted. I had also been sitting in a chair for nearly four hours in the coldest spot in the salon, so I just wanted to leave.
I really wanted to like this salon since it’s literally a five minute walk from my apartment, but it didn’t exceed my expectations by any means.

I’ve seen Pamela for a facial more than once, and she’s amazing! It feels great when you’ve finally found «your» esthetician. She’s really easy to talk to, and my skin usually looks great the next day! (Let’s be real… Who has ever left a facial looking awesome? You gotta sleep on it, and the the results will magically reveal themselves.) Pamela’s work always passes the two day test!

My salon closed and had a great experience with Sarah my first visit.

I moved from Chicago and I still come back to JB for my salon services. My stylist Melissa Murphy recently left and went to The Hair Studio so I don’t get my hair done here anymore (cause Melissa is AMAZING and I will follow her anywhere), but I still think Johnathan Breitung salon has fantastic spa services. The brazilian waxes are fantastic and so are the massages. I just found their basement (where the Spa is) to be relaxing and peaceful and I always walked out feeling as if I had a break from the world and was pampered. Lacey is the best! She has been doing my hair for a few years now, and recently I made a drastic change. She held my hand the entire way, and I love my hair! I feel like a completely different person! She is a total pro with cut and color, and she not lacking in the personality department either! I always have a great time and I trust her completely with my hair, and so should you.

awesome just awesome place !!! great service and very friendly !!! the downstairs spa is so relaxing and so surprisingly quiet. There is a waiting room downstairs and it’s so beautifully decorated ! And there is a fireplace that is soothingly burning away while the spa music puts you in a spa time zone ! lol ok maybe a little too much for the fireplace .
But this is place is such a great find. and who knew it was so fancy and great ! Lol it’s right off Lincoln and Belmont, close to whole foods. Its on the pricer side but still highly recommend it !!

Literally terrible. Came here to be a model for a blowout and finds out that she double booked the time and so I drove all the way here for no reason. No text or update at all. Pathetic. Waste of my time and gas. Terrible customer service. She had the nerve to lie and say that 40 minutes isn’t enough for a blowout when really it was just because she had another model.

Alisa B. Has been doing my hair for years! I would recommend her to everyone I know, or don’t know for that matter. She is professional and always has great advice and ideas!

Alisa B is absolutely amazing. I have been going to her for almost a year now and I am pleased every single time. She has great ideas for both the color and cut and knows the exact shade of blonde that suits me. I have recommended Alisa to my friends and after one trip they are all hooked. Marina was excellent– she listened to my concerns and helped come up with a perfect little trim to give my hair some much needed style. I will definitely be going back. I was also able to book an evening slot at short notice, which was incredibly helpful.

It took me nearly 1 ½ years to find the perfect stylist. Marina is just that! I went in for a cut and blow-​dry. She took the time to ask a few questions, and more importantly listened carefully to every detail. I have long, layered hair which she trimmed it perfectly. She is also such a pleasure to chat with! Loved my overall experience and will definitely continue seeing her.

It’s no secret that my hair is my Achilles heel. A bad haircut will mess with me for months and a good one will put a bounce in my step. I broke up with my old salon so I’ve been looking for a new stylist and a new do. Enter Marina. She’s cut my hair twice, lobbing off my looooong hair into a long bob, about 6 – 8 inches total. I was so nervous but she talked me through what would look best and made me feel at ease. I love my hair, have had sooooo many compliments and I will be seeing her from now on. I’ve been impressed with each experience-​never felt pressured to purchase products (even though I did) and I love the front desk. Past experiences with other spas have made me very attentive to how the receptionist treats me and I’ve never felt anything but welcomed and appreciated. l here. I’ve recommended several people and will continue to be a loyal customer.

If I could give more stars I would, that is how much I love this place. Totally worth the money you are spending. I had facial /​microdermabrassion with Brooke. She is nothing but amazing. Her treatments and recommendation have helped me get a clear skin. I recently did a Keratin treatment with Melissa. She explains everything and my hair looks wonderful. I cannot be more happier with this Spa/​Salon

Came to this salon when they first opened. Beautiful place. Recently got a trim and highlights (only the front part of my head). She did a decent job.
I was expecting to pay $ 100-​$ 150. They charged me $ 259 and then I had to tip. Never again.

As a new client, I was nervous about changing up my hair color at a new salon. However, I am LOVING the way my balayage turned out! Samantha did an amazing job! I will definitely be coming back!

I came to give my stylist the 5 star review she deserves, and lo and behold — the whole salon has a 5 star rating.
Have you ever had a relationship with a stylist where you know they will never screw up your hair? If not, then you need Anastasia in your life. Pronto. I love that I can plop down in her chair and when she says «What do you want to do today?», I can reply «I don’t know, what do YOU want to do today?» — and I’m always happy with the result.
