«Clef Notes Chicagoland Journal for the Arts» is Chicagoland’s premier magazine for culture & the performing arts. Our quarterly journal offers insightful features, interviews with today’s fine arts luminaries and the movers and shakers behind Chicago’s amazing arts and culture scene. Plus, we publish our popular Cultural Almanac in every issue, providing a unique day-​to-​day, comparative listing of arts and culture performances throughout the area across a variety of media and genres.

History

Established in 2009.

Clef Notes launched its vibrant, quarterly arts and culture magazine in the summer of 2009 to an market whose cultural institutions had been battered by a pained economy. In the intervening years Clef Notes has published landmark issues like its popular «Fashion and the Arts» (winter 2011) issue, which featured designs of star atelier Sam Kori George amid a 7-​page spread with Chicago’s stunning Auditorium Theatre as a backdrop and its autumn 2009 cover story featuring Mayor Richard M. Daley celebrating 10 years of Chicago’s luminous theater district and the cultural and economic impact that his work to bring the powerhouse theater venture Broadway In Chicago has had on the city.
