Crate & Barrel

I love Crate & Barrel, and also love outlet stores (and prices), so this should be a slam dunk, right?
Not quite.
The parking situation is out of control. Drive down an extremely steep ramp to enter the basement of a garage. There are two elevators up from the basement, but you can only take one of them, as the other will take you into the Aldi that’s next door. The people who work here don’t do a particularly good job of explaining how it works.
The products in the store are nice, and they typically have some in-​season items, too. (Sometimes they’re from the previous year, but you tell me if you can tell the difference between Thanksgiving 2012 and Thanksgiving 2013. I thought not.) Their major strength, though, is definitely their basics– big packs of wine glasses, juice glasses, white dishes, etc., for amazing prices.
Their larger items are more hit and miss, but the discounts are also higher. If I’m going to shop for housewares in the North & Clybourn area, I’m definitely coming here first before I go anywhere else– if they have what I’m looking for, it’ll be high quality and well-​priced.

I kind of found myself struggling on the star rating for the CB Outlet. There are some pros and cons so because I liked the store more than not I went with 3 stars.
Pros:
They have a good variety of CB goods available. From kitchen and dining to pillows and décor.
The staff is very friendly and always available to help and answer questions.
There is a garage and parking is free with validation! This is a huge plus.
The store is conveniently located next to trader joes and aldi so you can kill two birds with one stone.
Cons:
The quality of the merchandise is not always up to snuff. It’s an outlet so you really have to do your due diligence to ensure what you are purchasing is worth the price.
They have a dating system that lists the price drops as weeks go by. Remember if you decide to wait there is a chance it won’t be there when you get back.
Hard to find pairs of things. For example found an awesome chair for my dining room table but only one, I need two.
Overall:
It’s a cool little outlet and it’s worth going to because you never know what you may stumble upon. Is recommend giving it a shot.

Thrifty peeps rejoice. This is your spot now that that TAG outlet appears to be shut down.
I desperately needed to replace my glassware. That stuff only last so long. And I didn’t want to spend a fortune on wine glasses and tumblers that are sure to break or crack after getting tousled around after one too many drinks.
Not only do they have a fair selection of glassware at a steal (anywhere from $ 2 – 6 per piece depending on sale status), but there are awesome kitchen and home knickknacks to scoop up. I finally bought a nice, huge, ceramic baking dish, some dish towels and a few other goodies.
The gals working the counter were super nice. They validate parking, too.

The Crate & Barrel Outlet is just like a regular ol C&B, except it’s a little smaller, and everything is on sale. E-​v-​e-​r-​y-​t-​h-​i-​n-​g.
They had glassware for next to nothing, area rugs for 50% off, pillows for $ 12.95 (originally over $ 30), and so many other things. I always love an outlet– but to have C&B outlet is like a dream. I wasn’t able to pick up much, seeing as how I was in town for work, but found a laptop case (of all things) for $ 2.95, marked down from $ 44.95! What?! Awesssssome.

We recently visited on a Sunday morning right when they opened. We were on a mission, but decided to wander through and see what else caught our eye. This location has a lot of variety which was nice. There was not a lot of rhyme or reason to the placement of items which is a common ‘issue’ that I have with C&B. It’s okay though because everything is neat and tidy. And more importantly, the employees know exactly where to find everything.
The staff was friendly and helpful. We were in and out in less than fifteen minutes. It was a huge relief to find exactly what I needed and get back on the road to the suburbs. Thanks C&B Outlet! I’ll definitely be back. Especially with your plentiful street parking. I heard there’s a parking lot right there too, but I had no need to search it out since we pulled right in front to get a spot.

Hit or miss. There are sometimes great finds in here, but a lot of what they have is not particularly compelling. Lots of very plain dishware, and then single pieces of patterned wares that really should be bought in a set. Good selection of utensils and cookware, but the prices on these items are generally no better than what you can find elsewhere. Rugs/​furniture section has good deals, although selection is generally very limited and/​or random.
I have also seen pieces here selling for the same price or even more than the «real» Crate and Barrel store.

AHHH I LOVE I LOVE I LOVE.
This location is a little deceiving, as there is a CB2 AND a Crate and Barrel store both a few blocks away… Keep walking up Clybourne and you’ll find it! (past the Trader Joes)
Yes, if you are looking for osmething in particular, you probably won’t find it.
But if you are like me, needing little odds and ends (an extra mug for $ 1.50, a decanter for $ 3.95.etc.)…well this is your new hangout.
The prices are more than fair and the staff is so laidback and nice.
GO GO GO GO GO.

Still very expensive, but great products and friendly staff (even if you’re returning something big, like sayyy… a rug). :) Super helpful!

If you are looking for something specific, this is probably not the place to go.
This is more of a browse around the store and see what tickles your fancy.
They do not have a huge selection but the price is right.
Sometimes they have seasonal items.
Employees are friendly and helpful.
Bike parking out front.

I stopped here on my way out of town. I love Crate and Barrel and I was super excited to finally get to a Crate and Barrel Outlet.
Yea, it was cool, I guess. I just didn’t need anything. Oh, the horror. Nothing really struck my fancy here. The selection is limited… I assume it constantly rotates. My main reason for stopping here was to check out the bedding. Since I’m a sucker for their bedding, especially the Marimekko designs, was really hoping I would find some sheet sets that fit my bed. No dice! The bedding selection was almost non-​existent.
There were plenty of other things though: dishes, serving pieces, storage items, cleaning items, seasonal items, throw pillows and so on. I would definitely stop back in again when I’m in town… I just have to leave my expectations at the door.
Other tips: Staff was helpful. Street (metered) parking or parking garage in the back. No public bathroom, go to Aldi next door.

This place might have had some cool stuff. I really couldn’t say. When we first walked in, there were two very loud crashes. Moments later I heard two of the employees discussing how the one had broken whatever-​it-​was on purpose. She said she just «threw it on the floor». Why? Because it’s «great stress relief.» Fantastic! Do I get to walk around smashing merchandise for stress relief too? If so, this could easily become a 5 star review.
A minute or two later, we were told they were closing. Apparently they close at 8 even though regular Crate and Barrel just down the street closes at 9.

He stands up in the circle of people, lifts his head, and humbly announces: «My name is Jack, and I am a glassware addict.» There, I have said it. But it doesn’t keep me from returning here for high quality, low-​cost, and well-​designed houswares. I’ve been shopping at C&B Outlet since it was located in a small storefront on Wells, feeding my need for every kind of glassware (and other products, too.) It’s a wonderful place to get that wedding gift for those people you don’t really like, the workplace-​forced gift exchange or «shower», or maybe the holiday gift. They will be impressed and have no idea you spent $ 10 or less! And make sure to include the Crate & Barrel box. I think I am off the glassware kick for now, but I’m glad to know Crate & Barrel is here if I fall off the wagon. Great shopping, good deals and easy parking.

Today I discovered an outlet store of Create & Barrel in Clybourn Avenue.
I bought 3 items for a reasonable price, they were much cheaper than a regular store.
They have lots of stuff for a good price.

The bestie and I were on a tour of eats and interior design! Had to make our way to C & B outlet to check out their specials, and I can honestly say, I have mixed emotions about their deals. Their items are priced considerably lower than the store, but there weren’t too many «must have, must purchase NOW» deals. In other words, nothing that’s to die for here, just some normal staples.
I imagine multiple trips here to get the items that you’re specially looking for

I like buying random stuff from Crate and Barrel.
I don’t always like paying the price for the random stuff at Crate and Barrel.
The Outlet has some of that same random stuff for less.
Sold.

When my husband says that to me, «There’s no one quite like you,» he really means that I’m a basket case sometimes and just can’t make up my mind whether I’m coming or going. This was the case this weekend at out Crate and Barrel Outlet adventure.
I spied hot pink lawn chairs through the window of the store while driving by and I of course immediately needed to go inside and get about ten of them. I didn’t tell my husband that it was those chairs I was coveting. No, I merely said that we should go and take a look at what they have.
At this point, we’d put in about ten hours of internet research and about an entire day’s worth of visiting various stores to find this Holy Grail of lawn furniture. When I pointed out the hot pink chairs as an alternative, the blood drained from my math lover’s face and he went silent. I knew I was in trouble. He immediately walked away to explore, not willing to validate my apparently unreasonable suggestion. In a short second, he found eucalyptus wood Mendocino line furniture at a most reasonable price point and he decided this was the furniture we needed for our deck.
I wasn’t sold on it. I hemmed and hawed and pontificated and prognosticated and bothered the living sanity out of the poor store clerk who at this point had already spent about a good hour with us, priced out all the pieces we needed and showed us the box sizes to see if we could take them home with us that day. He also detailed several shipping options. We were probably at the register three times before my little miss indecisive self finally was in agreement that this furniture was good enough and I plopped down the necessary moola right before the store closed!
A relieved husband and Troy, the saintly store clerk, and 15% off later, we have enough patio furniture to seat a small army. Thank goodness for the store’s prices, selection, patience and care to load up our car and secure everything in place. This is an awesome, awesome store.

I love Crate and Barrel and if I can get their products at a cheaper price, I am there! In the past, I purchased two bookcases and was happy to see that they still have them there! My parents purchased cappuccino cups here and I am now the proud owner of them.
This store is always packed and busy with people purchasing housewares. I like coming to get ideas and also to see if what I want is cheaper!

I adore this store. I rarely go to the «regular» Crate & Barrel… too expensive. We were here last week looking for throw pillows and a living room rug. Not only did we find throw pillows for $ 19.99, but we also found throw pillow covers in the discount bin for $ 4.95. This place has everything you need for every room in your home. I’m not saying this store is cheap, but if you have an eye for bargains, sales and comparison shop like we do then you’ll walk away with a deal and still have money in your pocket.
Street parking is hit or miss. The staff is friendly without being aggressive & annoying.

I love Crate and Barrel. Seriously, who doesn’t? I love Crate and Barrel outlet even more. The outlet is the awesomeness of C&B with excellent prices. Over the years, I have found picture frames, glassware, and gifts here.
Unlike the regular C&B you have to be prepared to find any number of things here from seasonal items from last year to summer dishware. Lately, I’ve been checking out the outlet website and landed some deals when I can’t get to the store. I scored a plastic chip and dip set for $ 6.95. I couldn’t resist it and even got one for my best friend. It’s really impossible to wrong with such a cheap and handy item.
This store is alright. It’s a bit of a walk from the C&B at North/​Clybourne. I miss its old location a lot. The store seems a lot darker and dimmer than its previous location. The employees are still super helpful as always. C&B Outlet is always worth a look for great style and quality at a great price point.

I always find nifty little treasures for a fraction of the price at CB outlet.
Hell, I don’t even shop at the regular Crate & Barrel.
Check the clearance shelves, I found some very nice, big pillar candleholders for $ 2.95 each because they were a little scratched. I spiffed them up with shoe polish, they look brand new!
Good stuff to be had, good prices… parking garage in the back. I can usually find meter parking though…
