DB Flooring

I just scheduled my third job with DB Flooring because each time I have had them do work, they do an excellent, meticulous job. Competitive pricing, perfect work, and Dan responds very fast to all of my inquiries and questions, which is very important to me when I am trying to get quotes and schedule the job quickly. So far I had them grout my tile, seal it, and next they will be installing thresholds and redoing our basement stairs. Fast, clean, good pricing, great communication and fantastic results — I will be recommending them to anyone who needs floor work!

Dan and his team knocked out my bathroom in about 8 hours and I couldn’t be more happy with the results. Very professional and so caring about the job. Thankful that I found these guys on a random search and highly recommended for your bathroom remodeling needs.

Dan did my bathroom floor tile and also glass tile for my tub. Work was great he fit me in to his busy schedule even though my plumbing was put off by a week. They had to work extra long hours to fit it in to their schedule. Very professional and good clean up. Will be using again for my kitchen tile soon!

I talked to a lot of home improvement companies before DB Flooring, and Dan Beck offered the best price for re-​tiling a portion of my bedroom floor. The job was done well and quickly, and Dan even helped fix a broken closet door! Great service!

I loved the way my shower turned out. The last one was a DYI job done by the previous owner and as I suspected once the tile was out there was water getting in behind the walls. The guys tore everything out and replaced the sheet rock and put in new 2×4’s. The were very professional did everything as asked.
Like people said there is a bit of a mess afterwards, the dust gets everywhere. I suggest having someone come in and do a through cleaning after. The other thing to note is these guys do not do plumbing. I needed a new shower drain. Dan was able to suggest someone who came out did a good job and wound up charging me less than quoted.
Jerry, who laid the actual tile was very friendly, accommodated my schedule and even let me know when/​if he would be late. He even confirmed tile placement before setting them.

I wish I could give 10 stars, great work, clean, affordable. Craftsmanship was top notch. From the prep work to the install was all done great! I am highly recommending DB Flooring to anyone who needs work done.

Dan and his team are awesome!
We wanted to put wood grain tile in our basement after our carpet was destroyed by a recent flood.
Dan and team expertly tiled our lower unit and after not being able to find matching trim, they hand cut tile to use as trim giving it a really modern and uniform look.
From prep to finish, these guys were dynamite.
We are so happy to have our lower level back. Thanks Dan!

Being a veteran Interior Designer, I have a high standard of workmanship and responsibility from my trades.
I recently called Dan for a lower level remodel, he accommodated my construction schedule, came when promised (even texted me prior to coming), did a great job and all at a very fair price.

We recently hired Dan to lay some tile in a small ½ bathroom. In the end, the project turned out looking very nice, so I’m giving 4 stars. There are just a few negatives (and they aren’t that negative) that I will detail below (along with the positives!).
The bathroom originally had hardwood in it (installed by the builder). Hardwood in a bathroom is a terrible idea, btw. The builder also seated the toilet badly, so there was seepage, and the hardwood warped, etc. We finally decided to tear it out and put in tile.
I did about 95% of the demo work. I ripped up the hardwood, took off the baseboards, removed the fixtures, etc. Then I just asked Dan to lay the tile. He also had to tear out some hardwood near the border /​doorway. They damaged the door frame a bit when tearing out this hardwood, but I’ve never ripped hardwood out from under a door frame before. Maybe they did as good as you can do.
They laid the tile very straight, and they of course laid some cement board under it to make it nice and firm. Overall, the tile was done very nicely. There were just a few places where the cut in some areas chipped off a bit of the tile, so the edge wasn’t perfect. They were luckily in places where it won’t matter much (e.g., near back of toilet, etc.). I then put the baseboards back on and did everything else from there. For what they did, I think they charged a good price (I bought the tile too).
One thing they could improve on is being a little cleaner while they work and picking up /​cleaning more after they are done. They wore their boots into the house in the winter without booties. I kind of get this because they had to go outside to cut tile, but they only had one blanket to lay on the floor. I ended up laying several towels for them to walk on. Then, they got grout on several places on the walls and door frame. There was also a lot of excess grout in some areas that I had to scrape off so it didn’t show. But in the end, most of this stuff was fixable by me without showing much or at all.
Overall, this was a good experience. We shouldn’t have had to redo a bathroom in a new house, so I was NOT in the mood to spend a lot on this bathroom. Dan allowed me to redo the bathroom at a reasonable price. And it turned out great.

We recently hired Dan at DB Flooring to do a complex stone fireplace installation. His pricing was very competitive. We ran into a several issues the first two days of work. There were some things we weren’t happy with (lack of dust prevention, tile placement) and others we realized we should have done a better job of communicating. We reviewed the things we needed fixed with Dan and he was more than happy to make all requested changes.
Despite the initial hiccups Dan:
— never tried to charge more, even though the work took longer than expected
— was always extremely professional /​polite, even when we were being picky
— made requested changes without complaint
— was on time every day and easy to get a hold of
— made suggestions for improving the final look of the fireplace that we never considered, and didn’t ask for more money even though he did additional work for these upgrades
Although the project took longer than expected, in the end, we are very happy with the work and customer service and would hire him again. We’ve already asked him about coming back to do our kitchen.

Hired for tear-​out of exisitng carpet and installation of high-​quality bamboo laminate flooring for hallway, 2 bedrooms and closets. Approximately 500 sq ft at $ 1.15 per sq ft = 580.00. The main areas of flooring went in appropriately, the issues are in the finishing work.
DAMAGE — CUTTING CORNERS (Literally and Metaphorically)
Undercutting my door frames to get the laminate in… they cut TOO high in several areas, but the worst was in the main hallway. ¼−½″ of door frame gone OVER
the flooring… score marks where mistakes in cutting went even higher. Wood in corners as much as 1/​3″ and in places where quarter round cant go… he didnt even bother trying to put in putty. Closets were even worse, but at least those corners are not as visible.
DOOR FRAMES
Cracked door frames… where the line went up 2 – 2.5′ (thats feet people, NOT inches)… pointed that out after the installation, after the corners of gaps and
annoying scrap use etc. He doesnt say anything, but then runs some white putty up the door to cover it.
DAN BECK — «STANDING» BEHIND WORK
Its now over 6 weeks since he did the work… he conveniently decided that the the door frames were NOT something he agreed to fix. He texts me IRONICALLY… that he stands behind his work… but that I should get SOMEONE ELSE to fix this.
CONCLUSION
I am going to have a real carpenter/​flooring person (s) come and give estimates on the repair. Complaints filed with Angies List and BBB Chicago.

I had DB Flooring install 800 square feet of vinyl plank flooring in my basement and I love the way it turned out. Our floor was uneven and Dan was able to level it out before installing the planks. We got some water in the basement after the huge storm on 4÷18÷13 and not a single plank came up from the water. They also installed the floor for an EXTREMELY reasonable price. I would recommend DB Flooring to anybody that is thinking about installing a floor, backsplash, shower, whatever. 5 stars all the way!

I decided to make several custom upgrades to my 5 year old condo. I contacted Dan for tile installation as kitchen wall backsplash. Since I decided to use custom colors to repaint my unit, I thought that the kitchen wall might be easier to clean using tile.
Dan did a great job and selected a tan grout which is the perfect color match. I had to special order the particular glass mosiac tile from a local tile store. The glass mosaic tile was very expensive at $ 14 per square foot which cost more than my Kahrs engineered wood flooring. My new tile backsplash (see photo) looks spectacular and it’s color shows off the floor-​to-​ceiling maple cabinets, black granite countertops, and wood flooring in my kitchen.

I am having Dan tile the floor to my bathroom and the bathtub area with a decorative boarder. He is very professional and provided us with a detailed estimate. He has helped us answer many questions. He is very courteous and the pricing is very reasonable. I will always have DB Flooring do all my tile work. He is someone you can trust!

I have a three flat in Portage park. The basement apartment needed new tile. Dan came by and gave us a very affordable estimate. We decided to go with him. Dan and his crew threw in 1200 Sq. feet of tile in one day. My tenant was very happy. DB flooring is #1 in my book.

Highly professional, courteous and reasonable. WIsh I could give it more than 5 stars. Owner responds to calls promptly– and frankly, that’s priceless to customers. Thrilled to have a decent service business in our community. Highly recommend!

I called these guys off of a refferal from a friend of mine at work and I’m glad I did. Dan the owner came out and gave me an estimate for doing my floors in my Kitchen and Bathroom… He came out and did what he said and the job didn’t turn out to be as dirty as I thought it would, but they cleaned up everyday before they left and made sure I was 100% happy with the job. The price was very reasonable and the quality was SUPURB !!! I would highly reccomend them to anyone…
