Heather DeCamp is a Chicago-​based wedding photographer with an affinity for exotic beaches (just in case you were deciding to get married on one). She started her career in architecture and interior design after graduating from the University of Missouri. While photographing really awesome buildings as a hobby, one thing led to another and in 2006, Heather fell in love… with her camera!

It’s her architectural eye and ability to view people, places and things from different angles that makes Heather’s photos so unique. With experience photographing all types of weddings – from an intimate two-​person affair, to a 300 person ballroom bash – Heather will help you see your big day through with photos that reflect your personality and vision.

We worked with Heather for our engagement photos and for our wedding last July. We love the way the photos turned out and we’ve received tons of compliments from family and friends! We had such a wonderful experience with Heather! She came to our home for our son’s newborn shoot, and everything about Heather’s «product» was phenomenal — instructions on preparing for the shoot (and if you’re a new first time mom, you’ll appreciate the thoughtful list of to-do’s when you’re operating on 2 very tired brain cells!), her demeanor, patience and most importantly, the beautiful photos capturing a very special time in our family’s life! I can not recommend Heather enough — you won’t be disappointed!

Heather came to our home for family pictures with our daughter who was about 2 months old at the time! She was completely professional and wonderful to work with! Our daughter wasn’t ‘in the mood’ to have her picture taken at first and I was worried the entire day would be a bust… but Heather was very patient and we ended up with some great photos!
She was very easy to communicate with through out scheduling, ordering, etc. She also had a very quick turnaround! I would not hesitate to recommend her to anyone! :) We were very happy!

We worked with Heather for photos of our 6-​month old, and again when he turned 1 year. We had a great experience both times! We met at a park for one session, and then she came to our home for the others. We had a difficult time choosing which photos we liked the best! She made the shoot quick and painless for an active baby, and was able to capture lots of great shots. We were really pleased with her work, and her communication was prompt and clear. I highly recommend Heather. Her photos are wonderful, and I found her pricing to be less than several other photographers I researched.

Heather DeCamp has taken family photos for us each fall for the past three years. Heather is great with infants and toddlers — silly enough to get smiles and fast enough to get those great candid shots that only kids can provide! She helped us scout great venues for our outdoor photos and traveled to our new home to work with our crazy kid-​driven schedules.

It was a pleasure working with Heather and Christine for our wedding in December! The photos are beautifully shot and of an extremely professional quality. After seeing my photos for the first time it is clear how carefully the angles, coloring, and lighting were so carefully crafted. Our photos have this wonderful ethereal glow, which is exactly the look we were going for. Everyone who sees our photos is absolutely astounded!
Heather was also really easy to work with throughout the planning process. Communication was swift and she helped me with the timeline as well during the early stages of the planning. Our package included an engagement session, and she shot in two different areas that were far apart from each other so that we could include our dog in some of the photos, which was very accommodating. She also took the extra step to visit our venue again before the wedding to find the best places to shoot.
We also liked the candid nature of the photos. After posing for the traditional photos, we barely even noticed that the photographers were there, it was great. Also Heather made it a point to ask me if there were any other photos that we wanted before she left. She was also extremely friendly and always smiling which made it easy for us to enjoy the photo sessions. We are so happy we hired Heather and Christine for our wedding!

If I could give more than 5 stars I would! Heather and her staff are as good as it gets! In every aspect~ From the start, heather was beyond accommodating and worked with my now husband and I to capture our wedding just the way we wanted it to be. She was very interested in the types of photos we were looking to receive so that she could give us pictures we would love. Our pictures turned out STUNNING and I would highly recommend her! Her personality and attitude is so friendly and genuine, and she has a contagious smile that makes you feel so comfortable around her, which is important since she is interacting with you and your guests. She worked so great with our families and family photos after the ceremony, she moved things along very smoothly. I literally did not see her once at the reception! I was so wrapped up with meeting and talking to everyone, but she was everywhere, I couldn’t believe how many amazing shots she got. So many great memories captured by Heather DeCamp Photography that we will cherish for the rest of our lives, we are beyond grateful.

We’ve used Heather three times so far for family photography and have had great experiences. Heather is very talented. She can capture the full range of an infant’s expressions in a surprisingly efficient photo session (important since a baby’s mood can turn on a dime!). The resulting photos are beautiful and very natural, just what we are looking for. Simply working with Heather is a pleasant experience. She’s personable, responsive, and flexible with scheduling. Christine is amazing! We had her and Taz for our July 25 wedding and we were really happy with how things turned out! She got a lot of great candid and traditional shots. As my mom mentioned, every time she turned around, the photographer was snapping away. Also, Christine was very easy to work with — she listened to what we wanted and was laid back so it was comfortable to have her up close and personal with us the entire duration of our big day. We’d recommend her to anyone!

Wonderful people who do wonderful work. We were attracted to Heather’s portfolio because of her ability to catch people in the moment. Her work isn’t posed or overly set up. She captures the joy of the day in a completely natural way. And after meeting her in person, there was no doubt she was the right photographer for us.
On the day of the wedding, both her and Christine we a blast to be around, being both professional and personal. The pictures came out wonderful, giving us photographic proof that it was a hell of a party.
We couldn’t ask for a better group for us.

I’m sorry it took me so long to put up this review but I wanted to put in another good word for Heather. She did a wonderful job at our wedding and every time I see my computer background I smile because of the wonderful shot she took of us. I particularly love that you get all of the photos on a jump drive so it’s easy to share and show them with loved ones. I hate how other photographers don’t want to give you the digital files or make it impossible to get them. I still haven’t gotten my book yet (it’s been 6 months since our wedding I just haven’t found the time.) but I know she will do a wonderful job with that as well as her artistic eye is great. Can’t go wrong using her for your wedding.

We hired Heather to photograph our wedding last August and we couldn’t be happier with her service. At first we were a bit reluctant as we were on a tight budget but the investment in our photography was something we do not regret. Heather is very professional and made us feel like our day was very important to her and her business. She took the time to sit down with us before our wedding and helped us with our timeline and locations and listened to all of our crazy ideas. She also gave us a few tips to help make the day go a little smoother. My wife and I felt very overwhelmed with the planning process and her final meeting with us took a lot of stress off of our shoulders. Heather did a great job of coordinating our large groups, giving us direction without being too staged, making us feel at ease but was also never in the way during the ceremony and reception. We have so many great memories and were able to enjoy parts of the day we did not even see. Her services are not the cheapest in town and was one of our biggest investments in our wedding day but worth every penny. There are a lot of photographers to chose from in this city and if you are looking for someone who doesn’t make you feel like just another wedding, chose Heather!

She really did an excellent job. She made the two of us feel really comfortable about the whole process including engagement and wedding pictures. Heather has the rare ability of synthesizing what the customer wants together with what she knows will be the best outcome based on her experiences. At the wedding she blended into the environment which allowed for a more organic result vice any sort of forced staging. I can’t think of anything I’d ask to change. Heather made lasting memories that we will always be grateful for. Oh and by the way when the little one comes she will be taking pictures of the new addition. Sounds like Heather is going to be part of our family for many years — kids, graduations, grand kids, special events etc.

Heather and her Assistant Christine were wonderful. Heather was the Assistant Photographer for my sister’s wedding in 2011, and we all were really impressed with her pictures so when I wanted to take some photos with my boyfriend, I definitely wanted to go with Heather. She did an amazing job with our photos. We chose three different locations and she was really flexible with timings and fulfilling our requests. We had a lot of compliments for these pictures.
For another event, her and Christine did a great job, as well. It was a LONG (15+ hours) day but the photos turned out great and they both were able to capture many «artsy» photos as well as traditional photos of friends and family.
Heather is really friendly, gets along with everyone, and will definitely go out of her way to make sure her clients are happy. We had a traditional Indian function and used Indian outfits for our photo shoot and Heather and Christine definitely have experience with Indian functions. Heather knew what to focus on and made the colors of the outfits work really well with backgrounds.

Heather is absolutely amazing and talented. We met with eight photographers in the Chicagoland area during our wedding planning process, but when we sat down with Heather, we felt an instant connection. Heather takes the time to get to know her clients and is remarkably patient. She worked with us to get the most amazing snowy engagement photos, and even met with us in-​person prior to the wedding to make sure that she knew exactly what we wanted. Her online system for payments is also extremely convenient.
Our wedding photos came out beautifully. People are still talking about them! Heather and her assistant (unfortunately, her usual assistant Christine was not available on our wedding day, so there was a different second photographer) were able to capture the entire day, down to the very last detail. We had to change our outdoor photography locations last minute due to rain, and Heather was incredibly helpful. She worked with our driver to make sure we went to locations that showcased Chicago, but kept us safe from the rain. We highly recommend Heather DeCamp Photography!

We hired Heather to take pictures of our daughter when she turned 6 months old. We were very happy with her work.
The photo session took place at our house. Heather was very friendly, professional, and easy to work with. We love how Heather’s pictures turned out. It can’t be easy to photograph babies, but Heathers pictures turned out great.
We plan on hiring her again, and we strongly recommend her services.

Heather is super talented and super quick. We hired her as our wedding photographer, and she got back to us with an online image gallery after just 4 weeks, and we had our CDs with 850+ full resolution images within 6 weeks! Unheard of!
I am a stickler for straight pics and great framing, and she was the one for me! I’m pretty sure her background in architecture helped in shaping her style too. We interviewed a handful of other wedding photographers, and aside from style, we also gauged personality, method of payment (we wanted to charge everything on our credit cards to rack up travel points for our honeymoon), and price. She obviously fit the bill, and we are very happy with our photos!
