Business Owner

Dr. Kotler graduated in 1988 from The University of Health Sciences/​The Chicago Medical School. He completed his residency in Otolaryngology — Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Illinois, Chicago, Eye and Ear Infirmary in 1993. He served as Chief Resident from 1992 — 1993. Following residency, He received specialized fellowship training in the United States and Europe in the area of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

Dr. Kotler also serves as Director of Surgical Services for Operation Sunrise, a not– for-​profit organization dedicated to surgical treatment and care of children with cleft lip and palate in medically under-​served areas of the world.

Dr Kotler is an excellent physician– very professional by explaining exactly what he was doing. I didn’t have to wait long at all, the staff there is very prompt. I appreciate that he re insured and recapped my treatment at the end of the visit. Would highly recommend him.

I had been a patient of Dr. Kotler for over 10 years. I trusted his medical judgement and opinions. However after constant nagging throat and voice problems he suggested it was acid reflux and prescribed Nexium.
After loosing my voice, too many times, I had to consult with another professional. My first day of my visit this doctor was completely different. He discussed my past regarding my problem and voice usage. After a complete verbal assessment he used a scope to view my throat and voice box. I had a polyp on my voice box. I was told that the polyp had been there for a few years, I have pictures to show the proof. I have since gone through speech therapy and surgery. My voice is back and I have not had any problems since.
Dr. Kotler NEVER used a scope or suggested the use of any device to determine my throat condition, he look in the back of my throat, which revealed nothing. I feel very let down because he is suppose to be the professional and I am the patient seek his recommendation. Therefore I can not recommend Dr. Howard Kotler to anyone.

I was seeing Dr. Kotler beginning sometime in 2012 – 2013 for a keloid that had developed on the outer helix of my ear after a piercing had gone bad. My mom had gone to see him for I believe a throat issue and had mentioned my ear, he offered to see me. Dr. Kotler was doing steroid injections to shrink the keloid until eventually, he decided it was time to do surgery in November 2013. The surgery went great and while I was nervous, he was a great doctor and we bonded immediately over our similar music tastes and talked constantly about the concerts we have went to (the day of surgery he told me they would play my favorite band in the operating room). Overall the surgery went great, was painless and my ear actually looks normal.

Very organized and professional, kind administrative and nursing personnel.
Very prompt notifications of changes in the doctor’s schedule that require appointment changes. Prompt and reliable appointment reminders. Excellent coordination of lab results, etc to facilitate patient care.
Dr Kotler, himself, is very professional, and communicates thoroughly and completely with the patient. He listens carefully to the patient and involves the patient in the diagnosis process, and in planning remedial treatment and testing. He’s kind with a dry wit that alleviates patient anxiety. He’s very forthcoming with the reasoning behind his professional opinion and his healthcare planning and strategies.
Very impressed!!!
I highly recommend him for Ear, Nose, and Throat medical care.

Dr. Kotler is a genius. He performed a septoplasy/​turbinate reduction on me in 2006. He was compassionate and professional. I have been back for hearing tests/​hearing aids. I would recommend him to anyone!

I don’t know what happened with the person below, but Dr. Kotler is a great doctor. I have been seeing him for over 3 years and he is EXCELLENT. As for cleaning out my ears, it doesn’t hurt as long as you hold still — it just makes a lot of noise. He does clean out both of my ears so that he can compare them to see what is going on. He will look at the ear that isn’t bothering me to help him determine what is wrong with the ear that is bothering me. I would HIGHLY recommend him to anyone and it sounds like the person below didn’t understand that it a doctor has to look at both ears to determine what is wrong with the ear that is bothering you.

Went to see Dr. Kotler and when I was in the middle of explaining what was going on with my ear… he had pulled out a suction tube and was going to start to suction out my ear… I started to get very freaked out because he was approaching the WRONG ear and never even asked me my name or if my ears where in any pain… I asked him what he was doing and if it would hurt he said, only if you want it to… I started to cry… he than asked me if I would feel better if the the suction thing was PINK… WHAT DID THAT MEAN??? I ran out of the office… PROCEED WITH CAUTION when going to see this doctor.
