Manager

Carlos Menendez’s roots run deep in Sancti Spiritus, Cuba. His mother’s family came to that town from a small village in Spain in the 1820s. His great-grandfather, on his father’s side, came to Cuba in the 1880s and fought in the Cuban Civil War. On other hand, Zarahi Menendez’s origins are from Holguin, Cuba. Her parents came from entrepreneurial families. On her mother’s side, they were merchants. Her grandfather from her father’s side owned the famous Café Victoria, which was located in the central park of Holguin, visited by renowned politicians, actors, musicians, artists, and other notables of the era prior to 1959.

Earning a degree in Industrial Engineering from Santa Clara University, Carlos went to work for a Havana company in 1997. Well-spoken and comfortable with people of all backgrounds, Menendez was in charge of entertaining clients from countries across Europe and establishing business relationships.

Carlos’ journey from Cuba to Humboldt Park was inspired by his wife’s.
