Specialties
Little Bucharest Bistro blends the historic with the new. With a history in Chicago that spans more than three decades, diners know that the restaurant delivers meals of the highest quality. Every item is prepared from scratch, sometimes with ingredients and seasonings that add a new interest to a beloved favorite. Our bread is baked daily at Little Bucharest Bistro. Fresh vegetables arrive daily. We pride ourselves on having the best homemade desserts in town. A full bar is also featured, serving customers specialty cocktails as well as an assortment of European beer, wine and brandy including Branko’s «holy water.»
Nestled in the heart of Old Irving Park, on the corner of Elston and Spaulding (one block north of Addison), Little Bucharest Bistro’s burnt orange exterior lends itself to a classic old-world feel, with a garden and stone fountain finishing off the quaint ambience of the outside patio.
The main dining room gives patrons a view of Elston Avenue, with large windows lining the dining area, with three large European stained glass panels that adorn the walls, adding a traditional element to the space.
In the summer months you can dine outdoors on our picturesque patio. Surrounded by a fountain, twinkling white lights, the patio provides great outdoor atmosphere complete with flowers, ferns and other lush greenery.
The Little Bucharest Bistro is a perfect place for any catering event whether it is at your place or ours…
History
Established in 1970.
Little Bucharest, «Little Paris of the East» when translated, is owned and operated by the charismatic and gregarious Branko Podrumedic, the founder of Chicago’s Taste of Romania. The devoted owner can be seen any day of the week weaving through the restaurant and conversing with customers. Podrumedic recently partnered with Christopher to help begin a new chapter in the restaurant’s award-winning history, since it originally opened in 1970 when it was located at Ashland and Wellington.
Nestled in the heart of Old Irving Park, on Elston between Addison and Kimball, Little Bucharest Bistro’s burnt orange exterior lends itself to a classic old-world feel, with a garden and stone fountain finishing off the quaint ambience of the outside patio. Drawn in by the eye-catching, period-style façade, patrons are welcomed by a lounge area replete with inviting cocktail tables.
