History
Established in 2010.
Lockdown Bar & Grill is the product of two childhood friends, PJ Zonis and head chef Andrew Bian (also known as «Perm»). As kids in high school and young adults in college PJ, with his razor-sharp passion for hard rock music, and Perm, having a prodigy-like ability and a 20-year depth of culinary knowledge to taste a food dish, recreate it, and perfect it upon putting his own personal touch on it in the kitchen, were unknowingly performing market research years before Lockdown existed.
In November of 2008 PJ, Perm, and PJ’s business partner Dave Jacobs were in between business ventures. They knew it was now or never!
The elements to Lockdown’s equation included Perm’s ability to produce exceptional food and culinary concepts, PJ’s avid desire to create a «virtual venue» experience. There have been plenty of influences on the concept of Lockdown, but none more important than the band Iron Maiden and specifically the «Rock in Rio» concert DVD” (Full history on www.lockdownbar.com)
Meet the Business Owner
PJ Z.
Business Owner
PJ Zonis is the hard rock/heavy metal loving owner of Lockdown who has spent the last 20 years of his life getting ready to, whether he knew it or not, create this innovative new rock-bar. Growing up on restaurant food and gradually familiarizing himself with the restaurant business has eagerly led him down the exciting path of opening up a place of his own. Loving rock music and ice-cold beer made the original concept pretty easy. However, PJ wanted to implement something distinctive at Lockdown. Consequently, the «virtual venue» idea was born. It’s a concept that has been 10 years in the making. PJ’s thinking was «How cool it would be to watch my favorite live rock DVD concerts at work. Especially Iron Maiden’s year 2000 release filmed at the Rock in Rio festival» PJ says, «I’ve fu*kin’ watched that DVD 5,000 times and never get sick of it» He continues, «You know what they say, do something that you love and you will never have to work again… I CAN’T WAIT TO GET AT IT»
