If you have a huge appetite for an overstuffed sandwich, I recommend stopping at Lucky’s! When I saw it on Man vs. Food, I knew I had to bookmark this place as soon as I got to Chicago. My appetite has shrunk in recent years, so I knew I would have trouble eating a whole sandwich by myself. I stopped in before a Cub’s game for a few drinks and a sandwich before the game. Although the place is kind of small, crowded, and there’s not a whole lot of seating, I got lucky and found some seats. You can tell that everyone(locals and tourists included) knew about this place and just was looking for some good food before the ball game. Inside the place, you’ll see photographs that showcase the history of Chicago, whether it’s the past sports teams or various landmarks in a different time period. Plus, there’s sports memorabilia on display and flat screen televisions installed throughout the place, so a great place to watch a game if you don’t have tickets. The overstuffed sandwich consists of your choice of meat(and a lot of it), plus French fries and coleslaw, all stuffed into one, causing it to overflow, hence the name. There is a menu on the wall, to see the various options. The sandwich was amazing, but there was so much food! Very filling, and very satisfying. Great place to eat!

I’ve had a few sandwiches from here… they are ALL good. I think my only complaint is that it’s so small, which is not the owners fault, but what it does mean is that you have to wait awhile sometimes to get in. But once in… oh man, one of the biggest, best tasting sandwiches you’ll ever have. The sides are great as well. Be sure to check it out, but maybe not after a Cubs game.

Good food with generous portions, friendly and attentive staff, clean bathrooms, tables and floors. What more can you ask for?

By far some of the best bar food you can get your hands on in Chicago. Great atmosphere and lots of local beers on tap. It’s a perfect spot to hang and watch the game. Chicken fingers are amazing and they have over a dozen sauces that you can have with them. I had the Asian chili sauce which was amazing. It’s right by Wrigley and there’s a ton of stuff around but this hole in the wall is def special!

Six Words: Rueben burger, Monday Night Specials, yum This is the second time I’ve been there and I’ve loved my experience both times. The first time was after a long bike ride and I was exhausted so the burgers were delicious. This time, I came over with a friend after we found out another burger joint in the area was closed for an event. No regrets though! We walked into the bar at around 6:15pm on a Monday night and it was pretty empty. A few filled tables, a few people at the bar. Clearly not a happening place on a Monday night. Which is understandable. After we picked a table a waitress came right over and told us wonderful news: Monday Night Special — $ 7 for any burger on the menu and any beer on the menu. Beautiful. Wonderful. Incredible value. Especially considering most of the craft beers are around the $ 4-$ 7 range and the burgers are $ 9-$ 10.50. So for the cost of a beer, I also got a burger. Yes. I ordered the Rueben burger and my friend went for the Big Kahuna. I tried a bite of hers and it was pretty delicious. The burger(more like 2 small patties stacked) was cooked properly and the spicy sauce was delicious. My burger though … I’ve had nothing like it before. It’s a full on Rueben — we’re talking corned beef, sauerkraut, thousand island dressing — on top of a burger. I think there also was some cheese on it but I was really preoccupied with my meat. Yes. All the yes. It’s a delicious concoction that I love. Each bite is a combination of two of my favorite things. In between bites, I munched on the fries — big, fat, delicious fries. I don’t know how long the special is running for(it is advertised as a Fall special and it’s December) but if you’re in the neighborhood and looking for a good meal on a Monday night, you should definitely check it out. And if it’s not a Monday night, you should still check it out because I really enjoy the burgers. They also have a pretty decent beer menu. This place probably fills up on game days though — they are pretty prepared with a plethora of TVs.

Thick cheap sandwich bread, little meat, average fries all lumped together makes for a lackluster meal. You can make a better sandwich at home. Cozy little bar.

Place is a little small. If you plan on going here before a Cubs game you’re best to get here early. Food is amazing. Sandwiches are very very large and served with fries and coleslaw on top! Been here several times now and the service is always good and The food is always piping hot! I’m a fan!

Love the wings here! It’s a hit or miss with the sauces on them, either you get your wings drenched in sauce or they are somewhat dry. My favorite part is ordering cheese fries with bacon bits! They are very filling

Lucky’s is probably more like a solid 3.5, but I bumped it up to 4 just because it was a unique experience for me having never tried the Pittsburgh style sandwiches. Lucky’s is a small sandwich shop/bar right down the road from Wrigley Field. This makes it a great place to stop on your way to the game. I would try to get there well before game time though because everywhere in Wrigleyville will be packed. The premise of Lucky’s sandwiches is that they are all served on French Bread with«cole slaw» and large hand cut fries piled onto the sandwiches. We went here with a large group of 8 and were seated after a short wait, which was impressive considering it was game day. The service was great and they went out of their way to push tables together for us. The bartender was very accommodating while we were waiting and served us some of their good selection of craft beer. I was hungry that day and decided to go with the«Big Kahuna» which was a double cheeseburger with bacon and habanero mayo topped of course with the fries and coleslaw. It was a serious feat, but I was able to finish it all, which really puts into perspective the Man vs. Food Challenge(He had to finish three of the sandwiches). The burger was good. Fries are thick and flavorful and the bread is thick as well. I wish there would have been a little more of the habanero mayo on it because there is just a lot of bread to soak up. My least favorite thing was the«cole slaw.» This isn’t like the cole slaw that we have in North Carolina. The slaw here is flavored with oil and vinegar. Overall though it was a good sandwich and even better experience. Lucky’s is a good place to stop in for a beer or a unique and filling sandwich on your way to a game at Wrigley. The service is great and the prices are extremely affordable for Chicago. I would recommend it.

First things first, the bartender with the beard is a complete asshole. Second of all, read all the negative reviews. We should have: you get maybe one or two pieces of meat under a pound of fries. The ingredients aren’t bad, but they’re certainly not good at all, either. Third: the clientele are the most insufferable sports bros ever. Even on a day when there are no home games for any chicago team, in any sport. There were three Patriots fans at the bar, drunkenly slurring dumb shit, and the Patriots weren’t even playing!

Seen on man vs food so we had to stop in here before we went to a cubs game. I had the corned beef sandwich. I thought it was a great sandwich. It was huge you will not leave this place hungry. Service was very good. We got our food and still had plenty of time to get to the game without being rushed. Next time we are in Chicago we will definitely stop at Lucky’s again.

A wrigleyville must go. Easy basic, but flavorful food. Service is always great and the food never disappoints. This is no place for the health conscious, but even their salads are pretty good. It is a pretty chill spot to come have a beer and a quick bite after work or when in need of something fast.

Got our sandwich to go as we headed to the Wrigley Field tour. We let staff know we were on a time crunch and they did their best to accommodate. The food was not greasy at all. We thought it would be because of the fries inside the sandwich. It was a unique experience! You’ll definitely want to come back to this joint. Just make sure you have a big appetite because these sandwiches ain’t part of no kids meal!

I liked Lucky’s because they’re a late night joint that serves really, really, good fries. They were crisp and basically the love child of shoe string and steak cut styled fries that were also served hot with my sandwich. I ordered the Fredo and the ample amounts of salami was awesome. I’m not the biggest fan of cold cut sandwiches but the combo on this one was a nice meaty mix that I polished off within minutes. I will say these sandwiches are pretty big but with enough finesse or in my case, silverware, this mountain can be breached! I’ll admit, the last time I was here it was late, really late, and my friends and I may or may not have been a little buzzed. However, it was still a fun experience and a good night for sandwiches! If there isn’t a wait I say go in and try for yourself.

My hubby has been wanting to bring me here and we finally made it. The sandwiches remind me of Pittsburgh style with the fries on it. It was definitely a filing and heartburn filled meal… but quite tasty. I’m not a huge white bread kinda girl, so I basically ate my sandwich sans bread and with a fork and knife, but I did enjoy it. I got the one with the burger, American cheese and mango habanero sauce. The sauce was super spicy, but quite flavorful. My guy got something with a bunch of meat(ham, pastrami, etc). I struggled taking a bite of the sammies because they were so ginormous… but that’s a good thing! Definitely worth a try if you’ve never been!

This was my first experience with a Pittsburgh style sandwich and I loved it. I had the Pollo Loco and it was amazing. The crunchiness of the slaw interacts perfectly with the fries and chicken. If a Lucky’s came to northern Virginia, I would eat here every week. The downside is that I came here after a Cubs and it is a bit rowdy around the neighborhood. But the wait wasn’t too bad and it was definitely worth it.

Great freakin sandwiches for a big appetite! Sandwiches come stacked with fries and all. Great flavor except for the pickled cabbage or slaw, whatever it was, had a vinegary taste to it. So far I’ve had the Americana, Two Bagger, Capicola, and the Pollo Loco, no complaints yet. I’ll definitely be back! Only 4 stars cuz the bartender was a jag, smh.

If you’re looking for a sandwhich that is loaded and you haven’t eaten all day, this may be the place for you. We ordered beers to start. We sent them back because they were very flat. Of course, they came back flat again so we ordered a bottled beer instead. I We were told«must be something wrong with the line.» Beers were priced average but we were expecting draft beer instead of bottles. The sandwiches served up on very plain white bread come loaded your toppings, coleslaw and fries. They are a bit of a challenge to eat(Hince the man vs food appearance) I ended up eating most of my sandwich after I pulled most of the fries out. The coleslaw, very vinegar in flavor, took away from the cheese and turkey on my sandwhich. I’d agree with other reviewers and say order the coleslaw and fries on the side. However it could make the sandwhich very plain too. I’d love to try some other items on the menu but after the beer dilemma not sure if it will be anytime soon.
