Great guys. My bike broke down thanks to a large pot hole in the loop. I was lucky to bump into Adam while walking my bike down Randolph on my way to dinner. He fixed my bike in minutes (I was in a hurry) & I had him come back to my office the next day for a proper tune up/​repair. I’ll definitely use them again & cannot say enough great things about these guys!

I made the mistake of leaving my bike in a parking garage cage over the winter. Adam had set up a bike to work event at my office building so I decided to take advantage of the convenience. He showed up though the weather was atrocious and provided a superb tune-​up on a bike that was not functional when I rolled it out. Very friendly and professional. Hoping to post the before and after pix.

I had my bike shipped from Brooklyn to Chicago and it showed up in pieces that I could not haul to a bike shop on my own. I googled and found Pedal to the People. He showed up and put the bike together in my foyer! Really nice guy and did great work! I just popped a tire and will be calling them again to help me out!

My bike had been sitting in storage for 10 years, I have no car and no bike repair close by. Heard about Pedal To The People on DNA and made an appointment. Adam was great, friendly and professional; tuned up my bike right in front of my building. Bike rides like dream. Incredibly reasonable rates for door to door service.

I had a tuneup done by Adam the week of Jan 15^th. I left my bike with him (as opposed to having him pedal to me) and he took the time to explain everything he was going to do. After he was done with the tuneup he gave me a point-​by-​point sheet explaining everything that was done. Top notch service. This was at their 2030 W Hubbard location. My only question is when are they going to hang a sign outside?! That should bring in more business.

People are always asking me how I can ride right through the winter, but after being bike-​less for nearly two days in a crazy busy week my question would have to be how on earth I’d manage NOT to! I was in a bit of a panic when I started having problems with my brakes, wondering how on earth I was going to get to a bike shop to get it fixed. Finally I remembered someone mentioning Pedal to the People and am so glad I tracked them down. Called mid-​afternoon and got an appointment first thing the next morning. On time, quick, friendly, knowledgeable, and gave me plenty of tips on tweaking the brakes next time I have problems. Thanksgiving is saved (I can get to the store for supplies!), and I’m going to be able to pick up my bridesmaids dress before the tailor closes so I won’t be hopping on a plane in two days without it!
I’d give P2P six stars if I could…

Pedal to the People is an awesome service. My bike needed to be rescued (dummy lost the key to my cable lock) and required some basic TLC /​a tune up. I scheduled with Adam online a day in advance. He was on time (in fact, called to say he had a cancellation and could come earlier.) He provided great, efficient service and is a nice dude to boot. Freed my bike, sold me a replacement lock at a discount, gave me a tune-​up — all for a crazy reasonable price and within about 30 minutes. I will absolutely utilize Pedal to the People again — and recommend them to anyone. Totally beats finding a shop, dropping your baby off and hoping for the best.

tl;dr — Adam is friendly, his rates are reasonable, he’s punctual, and he does good work.
When the spokes in my back wheel got snagged in the dérailleur on my morning ride, the damage was pretty impressive — the wheel got out of true, part of the dérailleur broke, and part of my frame actually got bent from the stress. I threw it on a bus, and contacted Adam when I got in. He actually came out to my place of work that afternoon and, while he didn’t have a replacement part with him, did monkey my bike back into good enough shape for me to ride home. He was back two days later with the replacement part and his mobile workbench. Trued the wheel, straightened the frame, replaced the dérailleur, and got me back up and rolling.

Got the «Sampler» and a new set of wheels for my bike last week. Adam rode over and was able to do the job in about an hour. Was very friendly and answered my questions during the service. Gave me free inner tubes. I’m now riding to work daily and enjoying my bike. Excellent service, easy booking process online. Highly recommend!

Like everybody who rides pretty regularly in the city of Chicago, a few weeks ago my bike tire was stolen. It sucks but it happens. I had a spare tire at home so I lugged it to where I left my bike to fix it. What do you know? Pedal to the People is set up right there. Not only did they attach my new tire but gave me a full tune up and some much needed sympathy. Now my bike is chugging along better than before. I got my gears greased and my brakes tightened, the whole deal for a reasonable price.

I scheduled this service online the day before. Adam came to my building right on time riding his garage on wheels. He served me the Platter Deluxe Tuneup.
I have a 2010 TREK FX 7.3 which had been left outside for several weeks, thick dirty buildup everywhere, shifts non-​functional, break pads gone. I used my bike daily for work-​home commute. OMG, I have an amazing bike again that rides like NEW. He even changed my winter tires to summer ones for the same price! And the whole process was under 90 minutes.
Adam is very personable, professional and thorough. I highly recumbent his service. By far worth every penny compared to any other service shop.

i got a flat on my way to work this morning and didn’t have time to fix it — i locked my bike up at the nearest train station, and then started to run through all my options. none of them were good. I could take the tire on the super crowded rush hour train. uh, no. get my husband to fix it? we really didn’t have the time. walk it to the nearest bike shop? that would take forever. then a ray of light hit me and i remembered pedal to the people! i called adam, and he came and fixed it while i was at work. it was like magic!
most times i’ll just fix my own flat, or my husband will be nice enough to do it — but today, i was super glad that adam existed, and that it all worked out as smoothly as you would hope it might.
also, his prices were reasonable, and i could pay over the phone, which was super easy.

I heard about Pedal to the People through a You Swoop a while back. I held on to the coupon for a while and it eventually expired. I got a flat tire and called to schedule an appointment. Adam honored my coupon and provided incredible service. He arrived at my building and I brought my bike down to his fully stocked mobile workshop. He walked me through each part of the tune up and taught me about the different parts on my bike. I learned a lot about how to maintain my bike and keep it in great shape. Adam was very friendly and fun to talk to. After he was finished, I took the bike for a spin and it felt brand new! He tightened everything up and the bike rides beautifully! He has a true passion for his work and it shows. I will definitely be calling Pedal to the People for my next tune up. Thanks Adam!

The name says it all — Adam brings his bike servicing station to you. My apartment building hosted him this weekend and I was able to have him do a diagnostics test for any issues, pump m’tires, lube the chain and give me little hints and tips to keeping my bike fresh and bad to the motha flappin bone. He charged me $ 5 which for some might sound steep since the air is free at all bike shops and the can of lube probably costs less than $ 5, but I appreciate the service and love to support a good biz. I almost want to ghost ride my bike down a hill so I can bring it to him to fix it!

What a great service, I’m super impressed. I’m a fair weather rider who gets an annual tuneup, so my bike really doesn’t need anything fancy. I saw Pedal to the People on YouSwoop and gave it a shot. I mean, HE COMES TO YOUR DOOR! How great is that?
Adam, the owner and operator, is super friendly. He chatted happily as he cleaned, tuned, oiled and generally did some reassuring poking around my bike. He educated me on some safety measures and looked at a couple of things that are not part of a regular tuneup (my speedometer and air pump) at no extra charge. He was very helpful, trustworthy and didn’t push me to buy any upgraded services/​parts. Great job Pedal to the People!

A note of caution: I am the kind of person who buys her bike from a sketchy guy in Danville. This sketchy guy may or may not know why the brakes are acting funny. Luckily, Adam totally does!
Adam showed up with his mobile bike service contraption and went to work on my front lawn. I was a little worried my landlord would be upset, but Adam explained that this was part of his advertising. And as he worked, people stopped by and asked questions. He helpfully answered their questions as well as mine. Now my bike works great! If only Adam could give me confidence with riding on the scary city streets… was that included in the YouSwoop?

I’ve had a bike sitting in my garage for 3 summers and when I finally decided to start using it this summer there were a few things that were definitely off. Enter Adam and his magical bicycle cart! He showed up right on time for our appointment even though it was a torrential downpour. Luckily I had an empty garage he was able to work in. In 1 hour he had my bike pedaling like a charm, gear issues fixed, tires inflated, good to go for some long rides along the lakeshore path.
Not only is he super convenient, he does a great job and is super friendly and helpful. I would not hesitate to recommend his services to anyone!

Seriously. Adam is great. I’m new to biking. I ride a boys mountain bike that has been sitting in my parent’s garage since 1995. I decided to take it home with me when my mom asked me to throw it in my Jeep and take it to goodwill.
It seriously needed a tune up, but I was sort of embarrassed to take it to a bike shop. The handle grips are made of duct tape… Its rusty… Its a tweenaged boys bike. (I’m a short girl, it works great).
My biggest fear was that they would try to sell me a bike at a bike shop. I secretly love my bike, you know, like you loved your first beater car. You didn’t care if you backed into a mail box, or someone dinged you in a parking lot. Someone would have to be real desperate to steal my bike… and honestly I couldn’t be too upset if they did because its so awful.
But…I love it regardless.
I purchased a tune-​up through you swoop and made my appointment. Adam sent a text and asked if he could come a little later, he was running behind. You have to realize with what he is doing, he can get a little backed up. If a bike needs a little extra TLC, or traffic sucks etc. But it was totally OK with me. I didn’t have to «come back later»…I just sat around.
Anyway, Adam is amazing with bikes. I sat and talked to him for the whole tune up. He can carry on a full conversation (and actually listen) while working on a bike, without slowing down. He certainly knows bikes.
He really just wants to bring cycling to everyone. He’s not about getting rich. Just making a living doing what he enjoys. He is just as excited to teach you how to fix your bike, as to have you pay him to do it. He has no problem giving the «secrets» away. That’s what’s great. He loves this, and honestly wants to bring it to people.
He wants to eventually have bike «workshops» at his shop where people can come in and learn how to work on their own bike.
As someone new to riding my bike in the city (~1 month) I was glad that I didn’t feel like I wasn’t «cool» because of my beginner status, or shitty bike.
If my bike needs repairs… pedal to the people it is!

Heads up — this is not just a glowing review. There is an agenda here. I want you to call Pedal to the People. I hope you work with Adam soon. Why? Because I love bike people. I love bike culture. I love when people start to get into riding. Maybe they decide to go along the lake more frequently or (even more exciting!) to commute to work. So, if you are reading this review — chances are that I already like you. I want you, someone I like, to have a great, positive experience that will make you enjoy biking even more. And, that’s what you’ll get if you call Adam. If you are already entrenched in the bike community, you’ll be psyched for some qt with one of your own.
I met Adam on Easter Sunday. I was walking down Damen, carrying a wheel. (It’s tube just popped near Armitage.) I was on the phone, grease up the elbows, bummed I just missed getting to the store on time. Then, Adam, a bike angel, rolled by and asked if he needed a hand. Behind him, I-​kid-​you-​not: a mini-​repair-​shop, attached to his bike. If that sounds dramatic, it kinda was — in a great way
So, Adam fixed up my tire. Then, it got even better. He talked to me about my bike. (I love bikes but I adore my own; it’s a favorite topic.) Adam is invested in working with owners; it’s important to him. He’s got some awesome training and is a great teacher. It pays off immediately. For instance, I was cursing this year’s epic potholes for my popping tires, which Adam didn’t contest. But he also explained how the type of tires I had (skinny, vintage touring) are more likely to pop and how the air pressure plays in. I felt like the smartest kid on the block and now understand how to pick tires for the appropriate city.
I took the opportunity to talk with Adam about a short list of items that needed tending. (Seat, racks, locks, lights, etc.) I’d gone to the store a couple times but the sticker shock made me realize that Suze O would want me to process — ask myself, are these things that I needed or that I wanted? Adam, who also has a store in Bridgeport, broke out a catalogue and helped me order everything I needed (wanted) at prices that Suze O would ok. (I replaced a my roommate’s light for $ 12 bucks less than she paid, etc.) Adam used a rad device to scan my credit card, sent me a receipt immediately and delivered the items to my house when they came in.
Since that epic Sunday, three of my friends have asked Adam to work on their bikes. I’ve learned more about Adam’s approach, training and gotten to know my bike better. So, give a ring! Have fun. Enjoy your bike!
