Salon 541

I’ve been getting my hair cut by Candice at Salon 541 for the last two years and she always does a wonderful job!

Meh sums it up nicely. I’ve had equal and better manicures elsewhere, for cheaper. There are two people working here, one manicurist and a hair person, who was more interested in the nail part of this «salon» than her client getting her hair done. She kept looking at the nail polish, choosing which one she wanted for her vacation, talking about which one (s) were in her purse from last weekend, etc. Niiiice. I like to know I’m paying to be polished from someone’s personal stash.
The manicurist was ok. Nothing spectacular. Except she had an attitude. About my picked cuticle (I pick, sue me), the «Asian places» (she droned on and on and on about them. I get it), how awful the suburbs are, etc.
Yawn. Just finish and let me leave.
Checks and cash only. Mirrored EVERYTHING. Yowza. I shan’t be returning, no matter how desperate I am for a manicure, or how convient this place is.

I have been going to Donna at Salon 541 for over a decade and I am NEVER disappointed. Her manicures and pedicures last longer, and look better than any you can get at the so-​called bargain salons (it’s not a bargain if your nails are chipping after two days). Plus, she never uses those smelly chemicals that make you fear for your lungs. I no longer work in the area, but I make a special trip to see Donna because she’s the best!

Just got a cut from Deb at Salon 541 and have to say it was great. I work around the corner and this place is in the lower level next to the Subway. Went by one day and stopped in and couldn’t be happier.
Deb is charming, great conversation, and what I like most of all was that I didn’t have to walk her through everything to do with my hair… she knows what she’s doing. I would highly recommend this as a nice local spot to both men and women in the Streeterville area that want a nice haircut instead of paying for all the B.S. of a highpriced Salon.
Call me a regular from now on.
