Sri & Jana Photography

I was referred to Sri and Jana from a friend. After researching I found not only was their quality top notch but that if you are looking for a high end photographer, the price for the amount of images you get is the best that I have seen.
When heading to their studio you are warmly greeted and told to relax. Greatly appreciated after just having a baby days before. They are so great with the infants. After a full day of crying my son got there and was calm and collected in their hands.
Turnaround time was great. Follow up was great. Product was perfect. Will use them for my next newborn!

I chose Sri snd Jana for both my maternity and newborn shots as I was looking for a modern artistic style of photography. They did a fantastic job on both shoots. I knew what kind of shots I wanted based on what I saw on their website but they also made recommendations as well which I thought was helpful. For the newborn photos they chose the props and although I have not gotten the final photos back, my husband took a few using his phone and they already look amazing! Jana was so delicate handling our little Evy for the photos. If your looking for something different then Sri and Jana are who you need to use.

After a rather lengthy search, we finally found Sri and Jana to take newborn photos of our little guy, and we are so glad we did! Sri and Jana are absolutely amazing at what they do. We were so nervous that our little guy wasn’t going to be cooperative, but Jana worked her magic and he was knocked out! Their studio is so nice and relaxing. They were also so responsive and accommodating to fit into our schedule. If you’re looking for a great baby photographer, look no further than Sri and Jana!

I found Sri and Jana via an internet search and was instantly impressed with their photos and style. After meeting with several photographers I decided that Sri and Jana was a perfect match for my maternity photos and eventually newborn pictures as well. They have such amazing synergy and vision. Sri is an artist behind the camera and Jana is amazing at staging and executing her creative vision. They were very detailed and clear and listened to my concerns and ideas and went above and beyond to deliver. I was so pleased with my maternity pictures I trusted them with my newborn pictures as well. After a detailed consultation, then sent very clear and concise instructions with a detailed timeline for preparing for the shoot. They obviously know what they are doing because my baby slept the entire shoot and was quite the muse. Being the control freak that I am, it says a lot that I let them «do their thing», I figured hey didn’t need any directions from me. Even more impressive and a testament to their artistry and professionalism, I felt comfortable leaving my 4 day old baby in the studio with them while they worked their magic. I delivered on Monday called Sri and Jana on Tuesday and they got me in on Thursday. When I arrived to the studio my husband i I felt so comfortable with them and that we left out to get a manicure leaving our little precious ones in their hands. Mind you my baby was 4 days old and hasn’t left my side since his birth. I didn’t for a second regret that decision. I returned to a content sleeping baby and beautiful pictures. I will be booking more sessions in the future for sure.

I thought I found a photographer for our newborn photos but I was wrong. Our baby wasn’t due for a while, so my search began early. I did some research and checked out some reviews on the original place I was going to go with. I found out the other photographers had a lot of hidden fees, along with some other negative feedback. I continued with my journey to find the right place for our baby photographer, and I am happy I discovered Sri and Jana! They are a dynamic duo. Not only were we impressed with their work with newborns, but also their beautiful pregnancy photos. I was not even thinking of having maternity photos taken, until I saw the gorgeous belly photography. They made my husband and I so comfortable the day of the shoot and I felt beautiful. Jana was great at helping me with flattering poses. She also helped me narrow down what to wear and had some great additional pieces. Sri is an amazing artist with an incredible eye. Our baby photos were also flawless. I was nervous that the baby wouldn’t cooperate the day of the shoot, but I followed their instructions. The result was perfection! My husband and I called them the «baby whisperers», because they were amazing with the baby. People can’t believe how perfect the poses were. My friend also hired them for her newborn pics and was beyond happy. I promise that you too will be super pleased with their magnificent images and the professionalism of these two.

I couldn’t ask for better 12 month baby pictures. As my son’s first birthday was approaching it wasn’t a question that I would be contacting Sri to capture this new milestone in his life. Sri suggested an outdoor session. It was a perfect fall day. We live in Old Town and met at a great spot in Lakeview. I have looked through the pictures from his session so many times and not only do I see beautiful pictures of my son but these pictures capture who my son is. Sri has taken Maternity, Newborn, 6 Month and now 1 Year pictures for us. He captures the milestone that he is in at the time. I look at the pictures he took 6 months ago and it takes me back to his obsession with his feet, learning to sit up, etc. As I look at his 1 year photos, I know that in 6 months I will again be brought back to these precious memories of him learning to stand on his own, clapping his hands and the joy I felt watching him experience new things!
Getting the attention of a 6 month or 1 year old can be a challenge. During our photo sessions I have thought, my goodness, I make this kid laugh all day at home… why are you not responding! Sri is not afraid to get silly behind the camera to help get that smile that all of us parents hope to capture in our pictures.

Highly recommended this duo! Used them for my newborns photoshoot. Even though our baby had his fussy moments they worked through it and we managed to get some stunning photos captured. Sri is amazing and knows his lighting and photography very well and Jana is super great with babies. Very calm and nice studio also, very professional photoshoot from start to finish. I wouldn’t think twice about going anywhere but here! Amazing team…

I found Sri and Jana on Unilocal and loved their photography. I wasn’t sure what I was looking for, but in the end I decided to go for the «dreamy» look that they offer. After looking at a few other photographers, they seemed to be the only ones to capture that look. After I had booked with them I was in contact with Jana to decide on outfits etc. They were very accommodating and offered great advice in terms of clothing and makeup and allowed me to bring my makeup and hair artist to the studio. I didn’t have half the awesome outfits I ended up taking photos in and Jana was nice enough to provide me with them. The session seemed to have lasted only an hour, but we were together for nearly three. We did a lot more poses and change ups than I had originally anticipated, which was great because it gave me so many options to choose from in terms of posing and backdrop. I had a hard time choosing my photos for editing, because they did such a great job. I ended up choosing 30 or so and am very happy with them. (I have a total of over a 100 in my digital download) That’s another great thing about them is that they allow you to keep all the photos you take. Seems obvious that you would, but many photographers retain their rights to your photos. I don’t think anyone would be disappointed with the experience or the photographs. I would highly recommend them!

I finally decided to take the plunge, at my husband’s urging, and take some maternity photos. I was hoping to find a photographer near Bronzeville and did a quick search and discovered Sri & Jana and fell in love with their photos and was thrilled to discover they were close by in Pilsen. Sri has such a unique, artistic eye & Jana is phenomenal at staging and putting you at ease. I loved our maternity photos so much that I wanted to do the newborn photos with them too. They exceeded my expectations — the photos of our little one are exceptional and Jana is truly gifted — getting our little girl into such great poses almost effortlessly. What a wonderful memory — plus they’re a great couple to hang & chat with. Highly recommend them!

I found Sri and Jana on Unilocal and instantly fell in love with their photos. Even though I was less than a month from my due date when I found them and their schedule was fairly booked, Sri assured me that it would not be a problem to squeeze us in. I am so glad that he did. Sri and Jana were exceptionally accommodating when we weren’t sure when we would be released from the hospital due to my daughter having to stay in the NICU for a short period and were able to schedule us right away when we were released.
They made it easy to have our daughter prepared for the photo shoot by sending us a detailed schedule with timeline for getting her prepped and ready to be in a heavy snooze for the fabulous photos they take, which took all of the guesswork out of it for us. And upon arriving at the studio, I immediately felt comfortable handing my baby over to Jana for her to work her magic. It was easy to trust her given her experience as a pediatric physical therapist and calm motherly nature.
My husband and I found it magical watching as Jana and Sri worked in tandem to smoothly and easily manipulate our daughter from one adorable pose to another; and they were extremely creative on the fly incorporating props we brought with us and ideas we had for how to represent her (including ginger root — she is a redhead).
Afterward, our proofs arrived one week later as promised and Sri was able to turn the retouched photos around much faster than the 2 weeks he initially quoted us. We are so excited to share them with family and friends. Everyone who sees them talks about how amazing they are.
All in all, the afternoon we spent in their studio was the first time since I went in labor that I felt completely calm and like things were going perfectly. I spent the entire time with a large grin on my face and so happy that we chose to do this. I can’t recommend them enough if you or someone you know is looking for photos.

I was referred to Sri and Jana by my sister who chose them to do her newborn photos last summer. I was obsessed with the pics that they took of my nephew… so of course when I had my first baby last week, there was no doubt where I was going to get her newborn photos taken.
My daughter came 10 days early and Sri was amazingly accommodating at fitting us into their already booked schedule. They are both incredibly talented, Jana was great with our baby girl despite the fact that she was not interested in falling asleep when we arrived. And of course the photos that Sri took are unreal. How will I ever choose which one to print?!
The studio is beautiful and they have tons of props and accessories for different poses.
I was completely comfortable with my new baby in the hands of Jana and Sri. No doubt we will be back for our 6mo photos!

We had Sri & Jana do our maternity photos followed by pictures of our newborn.
With respect to our maternity photos, they were super flexible — we had to change dates because of a cloudy day and they were very accommodating. They made us feel extremely comfortable and brought along a ton of props that we could use in our photos. They incorporated ideas that we had for our shoot and suggested others that would be unique to our relationship.
With respect to our newborn pics, Jana is a genius with the baby!!! It felt as though she had a connection with our newborn immediately and easily calmed her down when needed. Again, they were prepared with unique props, welcomed any of our ideas, and were super accommodating with schedules. They organized our shoot to allow for two hours and ended up shooting our baby for nearly three hours. We got amazing pictures of our newborn that everybody loved!
We couldn’t be more happy with our choice to use them and would highly recommend them!

I found Sri & Jana Photography after an extensive search for Chicago-​based newborn photographers/​baby photography relatively close to our Wicker Park neighborhood. I had two friends refer me to Sri & Jana and after seeing their photos, I knew I wanted them to shoot my little girl’s newborn photos!
We booked several months in advance and Sri was extremely helpful and provided all of the details that we would need when then day came. I had a c-​section and was apprehensive about even leaving my house just 6 days after the baby’s birth, but Sri and Jana made everything so easy. They sent very detailed instructions down to when to wake the baby, feed her and how to diaper her. Their studio was so easy to find and parking was readily available. Once we got there they provided a relaxing environment for the baby and our family. Jana is a magician with getting baby posed which she did while baby was in a deep slumber. Sri and Jana were able to capture all the precious moments with our baby, 8 year old son and even some family pics. I could not be happier with the way that the photos turned out. Everyone who has received an announcement has complimented us and are amazed at the unique photos. I’m so happy that we went with Sri & Jana — we definitely made the right choice!

What a great experience!
With so many unknowns as first time parents, Sri and Jana made our pregnancy photography a delightfully worry-​free experience. They are among the best in Chicago!
Our friends recommended Sri and Jana after we complemented them on their maternity photos. Ever the planners, we promptly booked Sri and Jana several months in advance. They thoughtfully followed up as we neared our due date to schedule the shoot and walk us through the process. Since our selections required several outdoor shots we arranged to meet early at the lake front to get the morning lighting. Despite the freezing weather (in May no less) Sri and Jana were gracious and professional. Sri even arranged to reshoot a photo he deemed to not be up to his standards. Talk about attention to detail! The final photos were beautiful and we receive complements from everyone who sees them.

I did both maternity photography and newborn photography with Sri and Jana. The pictures turned out better than I ever thought they could. They were beautiful before they were even retouched! Jana and Sri work great as a team and it really shows in their work. Instructions were given before even photo shoot, which really helps, especially when dealing with a newborn. Although my 1 week old was not super cooperative, Jana and Sri were over the top patient and worked with her to get some beautiful newborn pictures. I would highly recommend them to anyone wanting any type of photography. They will not disappoint!

A very special and memorable newborn photography experience for us first time parents in Chicago! We are from the south loop and the studio location was very convenient for us.
Sri and Jana are very professional and accommodating to every little things about taking pictures of a newborn, and they’re very easy to communicate, fast to respond and deliver, and very friendly and approachable! Our child was not totally cooperating during the photo session but with Sri and Jana’s super skills and patience, the pictures turned out amazing and we are very happy about it :)! So glad we decided to do the newborn photography with Sri + Jana, I will recommend them to anyone!

The most stunning newborn photography in Chicago hands down!
I am not a person that typically writes reviews, but felt COMPELLED to let others know of the most wonderful experience with this newborn photographer.
I’m going to touch briefly on the best parts of my personal experience…
Their studio has such a warm, peaceful Zen feeling, i felt comfortable upon entering the doors, which instantly put me at ease.
My newborn was a week and a half overdue so she was quite alert for a new baby which made for some fussiness.“some” being an understatement.
Despite that, Sri and Jana were still nothing short of patient and kind!
Something else that stood out to me, prior to deciding on Photos by Sri… their pictures have such great diversity. When i mention diversity i don’t mean aesthetically although they do a wonderful job at that as well. The diversity i speak of is the diversity amongst culture. On their website i noted every culture represented… WITHOUT BIAS.
*Side Note*…This may be a little weird but, theirs a book in the bathroom of the studio… i think its called Kama Sutra for married people… take a peek at it… HILARIOUS!
…My husband is the ULTIMATE GRUMP… this generations Archie Bunker… needless to say he loved the experience, he loved the pictures, he loved the studio and he absolutely adored Sri & Jana.
If that does not solidify your decision on «Photos by Sri» then you’re not looking for the BEST.

Magic! Pure Magic!
Imagine a couple in the West Town neighborhood of Chicago, suddenly deciding that their first child was too cute not to get pictures done by a newborn photographer. So baby photography is a very special expertise and Sri and Jana mist be the benchmark for perfection.
In our 1-​hour session this team took great care of our first born child… ensuring she was safe, cozy and comfortable. It was like magic watching Jana carefully pose our daughter among well thought out props while Sri gave some artistic direction and took the photos. They even incorporated the personal items we brought like our rings and bit of my wife’s wedding dress.
Through the entire process, Sri gave clear directions and explanations from how to prep our baby before and what was happening during the shoot. All the while, my wife and I relaxed and enjoyed watching the show… a nice break for new, sleep-​deprived parents.
And finally, this highly sought after, overly talented, artists who specialize in babies under 2 weeks old have great customer service. Our proof, final touchups and final DVD were done quickly and reliably. I was really surprised at how well Sri handled me as a customer and his dedication to delivery.
My wife points out that I wrote this entire review with out mentioning the actual pictures. Personally, I could not be happier with the quality and creativity of the final photos, but that does not cover it. Check out his website or the pictures posted with reviews… they speak for themselves.

Getting our newborn photos taken by Sri was a magical experience. He and his wife are amazing professionals that have baby photography down to a science.
Their Pilsen studio is close to our West Town home and we were SO glad we went there. Everything was setup when we arrived from lights to a huge variety of props (baskets, hats, stuffing, etc). The studio was nice and warm and they even have a white noise machine to keep baby sleeping.
But the real magic was the presence of Sri and Jana themselves. As a new mom there is a steep learning curve and spending an hour with these baby masters, watching them transform my newborn into a work of art was an ethereal and relaxing experience I so needed.
Bottom Line: Hire Sri for the amazing pictures of your bundle of joy, they will not disappoint!

Sri and Jana were wonderful to work with! the entire process: making an appt, preparing for the photo shoot, waiting for the photos and seeing how GREAT they turned out– they are both very attentive, friendly, time conscious and most of all professional and do wonders! I haven’t felt particularly sexy or beautiful during my pregnancy and they reminded me how beautiful a pregnant woman could look like– for that, I am grateful!
we signed up for the new born photo shoot too– we look forward to working with them! They are not the cheapest but its money well worth spending!

Sri is the BEST photographer I have ever come across! He is truly talented and will get you photos that you will cherish for a lifetime and will supercede your expectations! So far I have done my maternity photos with him, and I’ve had more compliments on those photos than any in my life. People have told me the photos he took of me look like something out of a magazine shoot, that they are magical, artistic, goddess like and that they are now the standard for what they want in their maternity photos. I wanted to remember my pregnancy with maternity photos but I was very picky about what I was looking for and after a lot of research, I couldn’t find anyone whose work came even close to as good as Sri’s photos. For me, it was maternity photos with him or no one. I was a little nervous about spending money on photos of myself while pregnant, but I couldn’t be happier with the end result. Lastly, the event in itself of meeting Sri and his beautiful wife Jana along the quiet, serene lakefront at sunrise to take photos of my husband and I was very special, giving us a chance to slow down and cherish the moment. My husband loves the photos too and has ordered some large photo canvases to decorate the nursery.
Also, he got the photos to me very timely, within a few days! And was always available by phone/​text, even later in the evening. I’m so glad I found him, he is gem. I can’t wait for the newborn photos!

Amazing photos, great people, worth every penny!
We booked a session with our newborn and our 2 year old together and they worked magic with our newborn. Getting him in impossible poses all while he was asleep without waking him. And it’s not like we brought him in while he was asleep. They were better with our baby than we were. Fed him and he fell asleep in their arms and they took amazing photos.
They listened to all our requests. Even did some really nice touch-​ups in Photoshop on a few photos and sent us free prints because I got confused about what was included. They were amazingly accommodating and super super nice people.
I can’t recommend them enough, there’s no possible way you could regret using them for your photos.

I’m disappointed that Unilocal is taking down my review, I assume if I attached an example photo it would not be taken down, but I’m don’t think its fair to require people to post photos of children on public sites. I don’t think this business should suffer the loss of a deserved positive review for such a reasonable concern.

I decided late in my pregnancy that I wanted to have a maternity shoot. After scouring the web for a reputable maternity photographer in the Chicago area I came across Sri and Jana’s website. I was overly impressed with their work but hesitant to book because of price. After a friend of mine got her photos done I decided to take the plunge.
I booked a maternity and newborn session. At the time I was 36 weeks along and though I waited until the last minute they were very accommodating with getting me in to shoot so I could document my baby bump.
My maternity shoot was great. Though it was a mini session of only 30 minutes I got several beautiful shots! My maternity shoot left me super excited for my little prince to make his appearance for the newborn shoot.
My newborn session once again left me satisfied. Sri and Jana were real professionals with my little guy. We even managed to get a shot of him smiling :-) overall my experience was wonderful. I love my pictures and I’m very happy that I decided to work with them.
I highly recommend these two for anyone in the Chicago area looking for maternity and/​or newborn shots!

We had Sri + Jana do our baby’s newborn photos in late March and they turned out amazing.
I had contacted Sri + Jana back in December to put down a deposit and the email communication and explanation of everything was quick and informative. There was a breakdown of what we were paying for and what we were receiving in the package we selected. When the time came and our little one was born, I contacted Jana and she confirmed our photo shoot time/​date.
They have a very nice studio and there is parking. When we arrived, Sri and Jana talked to us about what we wanted and offered to either let us watch the whole shoot or hang out upstairs and relax. We decided to watch, it was so much fun. They are both baby whisperers. Our baby would get fussy and they were able to calm her down instantly. They were very patient and gentle with her. We had paid for 1.5−2 hours and decided to get an extra hour since we were there. The pricing was reasonable and well worth it.
After the shoot, they sent us some teasers and we got high res images within a week and edited photos of what we wanted a few days after. Prompt replies, attention to detail an very creative. We were very impressed with this husband and wife duo and would recommend them. Next time, I want to do maternity photos with them. In their studio, they have prints on display and each image was unique.

My wife & I were pregnant and someone suggested we get maternity photos. At first we didn’t know where to start. We started calling around for just different photographers. We had a session with one and after looking at the photos I didn’t feel like the pictures captured my wife’s beauty. Someone suggested Sri and Jana after seeing them on The Talk. Obviously, we were intrigued and gave them a call. Jana answered all of my wife’s questions about what the session would be like.
Photography day, After the first few pictures Sri, (the photographer) showed us his proofs and wow, there is no wonder why they were featured on the news, fabulous was my wife’s first words. Sri and Jana definitely know how to catch a pregnant woman’s beauty. I could not be more pleased with the how easy the process was and the final product.
