The Green Room Studio

This review is for The Green Room Professional Program.
I had initially taken an audition workshop with Steven Ivcich and was blown away by how he completely deconstructed the process and implemented his own techniques to aid in the audition process. I had taken everything that I had learned in that workshop and applied it to all my auditions. I promised myself that I would take any class that he would teach after that.
When I discovered that he taught a class, I jumped on the soonest available time slot. Steven has developed a technique that is it’s own beast. It’s not something that can be described because it’s based solely on experience and is something that all actors should learn to enhance all their performances. Since taking his classes, I implement his techniques to just about all my performances.
The class is designed for all people, despite what your acting training is. Our Level 1 class was a mixed bag of seasoned actors and those who have never taken an acting class before. It was gratifying to see the growth and progress that all my classmates developed over the weeks.
If you need a place to start in acting, this is where you should go. I also highly recommend the Meisner classes at Green Shirt Studio (a different acting school).

I am taking Level 1 of their Green Room Professional Program and it’s fantastic. I feel like I am being taught the fundamental craft of acting at a whole different level. I’ve learned tools here that, now that I know them, I cannot imagine going without. Steven Ivcich is a veritable Yoda of acting, and I sit in class trying to copy word-​for-​word what he is saying so I can think about it later. Highly recommended.

Words cannot truly express how blessed I am to have found and been taught by Steven Ivcich. If you are at all serious about the craft, you have to add his process to your arsenal.
I have been an actress for more than fifteen years, a member of SAG, booked some commercials and industrials, and have done theater. In this whole time, the process of creating a character, building a scene, and everything else related has been arduous and hit-​or-​miss for me. When what I did behind the scenes worked, I was overjoyed and lived to be an actor another day. But I’ve never liked the work. It was so hard, lonely and boring.
Then I took classes with Steve: two monologue classes and Levels One, Two and Three of his professional program through The Green Room. In my opinion, he is a master teacher. His process takes everything you learned in the past (and adds more), stirring it up in the pot, and spilling them onstage so that even you surprise yourself. He empowers you so that you find your own way without having to rely on a coach.
The biggest gift that Steve has given to me after all these years of «trying so hard» is that there is joy in this craft. I no longer «try so hard» because as he says, if it’s not simple, it’s not working. If you are truly serious about being an actor, Steve will help you to unlock doors you didn’t even know existed. Yes, truly, I highly recommend him.

I have just completed Level 2 of The Professional Program at The Green Room and cannot say enough about all that I am learning. I use the words «am learning» because this process is one that will continue to build over time. Steven Ivcich has developed a process that adds depth, life and color to my performance and will transfer to all acting media whether on camera or stage.
During the eight week class, we worked sides from various scripts – some theatrical, some on-​camera – and even had a bit of time to work monologues. The purpose of Level 2 was to solidify each individual’s process and embrace our unique working style.
I consider Steven a highly gifted mentor and he handles his students with respect. You can tell he enjoys working with us and is quick to nurture each actor’s artistry. Though The Professional Program may seem a bit pricey, once you understand how many hours of class are provided, I think you’ll agree that The Professional Program is a bargain!

Answering all your questions, helping you get set up and oh yea she’s an actress and fellow Green Room alum herself so she answers your questions from a student’s prospective. She’s friendly, helpful and relatable. The program itself has made me comfortable in front of the camera and the training you receive from current and past casting directors is invaluable. Sean welcomes your 1 on 1 questions whether face to face or via email, he’s super cool and helpful. I completed levels 1 and 2 and really can not thank these guys enough for how they have helped me evolve. After my Green Room training the next 2 auditions I had I booked them both! Unlike some others programs I’ve spent money on in the past THE GREEN ROOM WILL BE WORTH EVER PENNY!

I recently completed level one. There are just things you learn that you can not get anywhere else. I have a notebook full of notes that I refer to. They have great connections and give good advice on photographers, interning and a plethora of other tidbits. I highly recommend the school. Sean is superior and they share personal e-​mails to ask advice after class. Priceless!

Pound for pound, the best class I took last year. All the teachers are former/​current O’Connor casting employees, so they know and teach all the tips and tricks to help you stand out by not standing out at all. In the middle of level 3, I booked my first commercial and I recently auditioned for a miniseries that I think I have a really good shot at landing. Cannot say enough good things about this place.

This review is regarding the Green Room Studio, an on camera actor’s studio, in Chicago. I highly recommend taking classes at this school, because the owners are experienced actors, and have been casting directors with a major casting agency in Chicago. It is because of their experience that they really can help you learn what you need to know. They know what you have to do in order to do well in an on camera audition. They also provide you with good information on the best photographers, and agents, and give you the best information to include on your acting resume.
I feel so much more confident since taking a class at the Green Room Studio. They charge the same amount for their classes as any of the other acting schools, but I think you get much more out of this than you will at any other school. They do not teach stage acting, so if that’s what you’re specifically looking for, don’t go there. I believe, however, that you can benefit from this class even if you are a stage actor. In order to be great at what you do, you should have all the knowledge you can in all aspects of this business. TAKE A CLASS HERE AND SEE FOR YOURSELF!!!
