Trader Todd’s

Trader Todd’s was a great place for friends to meet up, watch sporting events and to hold an event your own. Can’t go wrong with Monday specials, the best around town. It was my first time there and the staff was very friendly and accommodating to our event. Good atmosphere, great meeting new people. Special Shout out to Kyle and the lovely lady who served the Physicians Event.

I don’t remember anything this night but karaōke was fun. Dont let me in there anymore

Super fun place and great people! Also love that there are 2 karaōke stages and the front /​back rooms have kind of different vibes.
2 stars because the DJ in the back room– I will hold back his name– only plays your song for cash. No wonder at the end of the night everyone he called up had left by then, and his tip jar was overflowing. Also, he was rude and very clear that your «song gets bumped up if you pay cash» (I asked).
I don’t know if trader todds gets a cut of the cash he takes for your song to get played, or if he just decided to scam their customers on his own. Either way it seems pretty slimy to me!
Otherwise, great place!

This might be a 2-​star place on a good day if the doorman wasn’t permitted to destroy people’s property by the staff.(. which apparently happened back in November 2015!)
But even then… the karaōke is often atrocious in most every way, from the way its run to the poor sound quality to the performances… the open floor plan on the front end isn’t a particularly pleasant place to stand or sit, the beer selection is fairly basic (though at least kind of cheap), and the back area some nights, while semi-​comfortable, feels like a better place to stage a murder undetected than a place to hang out.
If somebody else opened a nightly karaōke bar within half a mile of this place they would make a killing from all the money they’d make off of people who’d quickly abandon this establishment. The only reason they make money is because it’s the default karaōke spot for Wrigleyville douchebags and bees.

Maybe I only like this place because of the memories. Every year, I visit friends in Chicago, and us and their group of friends get together and go to Trader Todd’s. And it’s a blast.
The service is good, drinks are strong and decently priced, and the food (that I’ve tried) has been good for food served at a karaōke bar.
All I’m sayin is, the whole bar danced along when us 5 very white folks from Fayette county, PA got up and sang Lil Jon’s classic «Get Low». Now, if you aren’t having a good time here. you’re doing something wrong.

I love this place I’m here almost every night. I really like the painkillers they do the job and taste awesome. The karaōke is fun and the array of singers is with the trip even if you’re not a singer. Love the burgers and there is always a great burger of the month. The boat out back with the fire pit is my favorite spot just to chill.

Hipster douchebag central! Drinks are super watered down, karaōke set up doesn’t even have a stage in the back. Super lame and NOT worth your time.

First, let me say that I love Trader Todd’s for its kitschy atmosphere and every night karaōke.
However, my experience this past Sunday night left me unimpressed. I had just run the Chicago Marathon and I waddled into Trader Todd’s looking for some karaōke to celebrate. My friend asked the bartender if they were offering any drink specials for marathon finishers (a lot of bars/​restaurants were doing 26.2% off that day so it never hurts to ask) and the bartender looked at my friend like she was crazy and said «Are you kidding me?»
A man, who I’m assuming is one of the managers, walked behind the bartender and I heard him say, «Just give her a shot» and so she begrudgingly poured a shot of Jameson and shoved it towards me without so much as a smile.
I am not in any way saying that I am entitled to free drinks for running a marathon, but honestly I would have rather she just said, politely, «I’m sorry but we aren’t offering any marathon specials tonight» than be treated with the attitude that I was treated with and then feel obligated to take a nasty, warm shot of Jameson.
Great atmosphere, great crowd, and great tunes but the drinks were way overpriced for a Sunday night and the service was less than desirable.

Karaōke man? Terrific. Brah killed it. I think he’s a former child star from a rob Reiner movie. Great place. Except for the bouncer by the name of «party Ted» pushy and something was off about him. Definitely had something to hide. Going back to figure this Viking out.

This place sucks the guy in the red beard total douche! The food sucks if i wanted to go taste burnt charcoal on my burger i would of stayed home and ate my grill. Fried pickles where fried to death where there was no more pickle just chip! The drinks .well i could of put vomit in a glass and it would tasted better!!! Never eat here i would of rather spent money on a hot dog!

The draw with Trader Todd’s is that they have karaōke every night, which, I’ll admit is unique. I used to live around the corner, and that was very convenient.
But you can do better, Unilocal friends. Karaōke exists at *some* bar every night of the week in Chicago. Trader Todd’s is the option of last resort.
It has everything going for it– kitschy tiki décor, blue drinks with umbrellas, and, as mentioned, karaōke every night of the week! However, the drinks are overpriced, the food is sub-​par, and I swear I have never walked in (even during the day!) without a faint smell of urine wafting throughout the interior. One of the karaōke djs is super friendly, the other makes it seem like he’s doing you a favor to play your song. The rest of the staff is nice, though.
Don’t come on the weekends unless you expect to bump into and step over a gross contingent of Wrigleyville’s (tone deaf) finest. It gets seriously crowded– don’t expect to sing many songs. Early in the week, especially Sunday and Monday, are more low key.

It’s a Karaōke bar on Sheffield right near Wriggleyville. If that doesn’t tell you everything you need to know about this place I’m not sure I can help you.
The interior decoration is pretty fun with their tropical/​Caribbean theme. I got a good laugh at their display case with Trader Todd’s merchandise. Are drunk out-​of-​towners coming from the Cubs game even dumb enough to buy that stuff?
Guy managing the karaōke was really nice. He had my friend down by the wrong name but was able to bump him to the top once we figured out he had been passed up. I was pleasantly surprised by how decent many of the people were at signing. And then there was this guy that inserted the F word and «Trader Todd’s» into every line. Classic.
If you’ve had a lot to drink, and you really have a hankering for karaōke, you’ll do alright here.

Another night, another disappointment. This place wouldn’t let our friend in because he didn’t have his glasses on, and then yelled at our female friends after they confronted the bouncer. Wholly unprofessional. You lost a lot of money that night and I, and my friends, will never return.

It’s like 90 degrees with 120% humidity in this place all the time. Wouldn’t let my friend in because he had glasses on in his drivers license pic but he wasn’t wearing glasses that night… Seriously? He’s 31 years old! Really!?! Fuck off Trader Todds!

Lame. Lame. Lame.
Service is great. Mini burger great. Drinks great.
Morons singing karaōke… TERRIBLE!!!

A group of friends invited me out here for karaōke, and I figured I’d check it out. I arrived at around 10:30 or 11 and we sat out in the enclosed patio out back for a few minutes before getting kicked out and herded inside. I guess the patio closes early? So we stood around in the front part of the building (fyi — this place has two separate rooms with simultaneous karaōke taking place in each one) and made a request with the DJ to do a song. He said there were 12 people in front of us. So we headed to the back room for a drink and to sit for a while until we were called. I ordered a rum and coke, and this was probably the most awful, watered down rum and coke I’ve ever had. Blehh. Then we decided to sign up for karaōke in the back room too, just in case. There were about 5 ahead of us, and though we waited a while, we were finally called (we sang Don’t Stop Believin’ by Journey, in case you were wondering). We then headed back to the front room to see if we were almost up. When I asked the DJ how many were ahead of us, he responded with 10. TEN MORE PEOPLE IN FRONT OF US? When literally 30+ minutes ago he told us that there were 12 in front of us… yeah, I call bulls***. But whatever. We ordered shots of Fireball while we were waiting and let me tell you, those shots were BIG. We definitely got a value there. That was one good part of that night. We were FINALLY called to sing after waiting another 20ish minutes. We had fun onstage and the crowd was just dancing and being crazy. It’s pretty standard Wrigleyville/​Lakeview bro’s and girls that probably had fake ID’s. I did have a good time. any place with karaōke is great for me. It’s also fun to people watch as the night gets later and later. Doing it over, I would have drank before I got there, so I wouldn’t have to drink such watered down drinks. I’d still come back again though.

This had the potential to be everything I love about nightlife: it’s tropical themed, they have comically large cocktails (mammoth), and there’s karaōke. I can totally see why my friends took me here for my Bachelorette Party. Unfortunately, the company I keep and the server who tended our table were the only things I genuinely liked about it.
Firstly, the drinks are large and they aren’t ridiculously overpriced for the area, but they aren’t particularly strong or good. It’s clear they serve most of the tiki drinks and other concoctions as novelty items. It’s clear they cater to mostly bros out guzzling Bud and the «Ohemgee, I, like, just turned 21» club-​hopping crowd. You can tell by looking no further than the ladies restroom, which was literally a shit show since no one had refilled the toilet paper. A girl hurled into the sink and then joined her friends and continued to drink. Party on, Wayne.
Secondly, there is karaōke in the front bar and the back bar, but good luck getting in on it with such a massive crowd. We were there for about 3 hours and I made the rotation once. That has to be a new record. Even the busiest karaōke bars we’ve been to have managed to cycle us twice. That was the biggest letdown.
We came, we saw, we conquered (the mammoth Margarita). We won’t be back.

Stopped in during the Belmont Sheffield fest on Sat. The 4 stars are for the waitress we had. We sat at the front of the bar, ordered drinks and food. Had to use the restroom. The line for the ladies room was literally 20 women deep and only one stall was working. My food had been delivered before I left the table. I thought I’d be gone for a few mins. Our waitress saw me standing in the line. When I finally did get back to the table, my food was cold.
Was Really looking forward to a hot burger. She stopped by an apologized profusely for the inconvenience. Told us the bathroom issue had just happened that day due to a previous customer. She was so sweet about it. Normally at a bar like this; they would not had even stopped to say anything given how crowded they were. Forgot to get her name; short blonde hair. Thank you for being kind.

This is seriously one of the worse bars I’ve ever been too.
Where do I even start?
I’ll start with the fact that they think they are a tiki bar. Nope! A more accurate description would be a collage spring break in Fort Lauderdale bar.
I will say our waitress was nice but the bartender was terrible. She was slamming things around because everyone in our group was ordering cocktails and I guess she doesn’t like actually working. Maybe she shouldn’t be a bartender and just work the beer tub somewhere.
My friends and I are all industry people. We tip well and we drink a lot. This gal was literally GLARING at our group. it was awful.
The alcohol selection was very uninspiring. The stuff hangovers are made frim. Yuk. thankfully they have a few craft beers.
I will admit, we are liquor snobs but come on. Have a decent bottle of bourbon on hand for the adults.
The karaōke machine was broken and they scrambled to fix it and after about an he of being annoyed, they suggested we go in the back room for karaōke. Why they didn’t suggest that to begin with is beyond me. That was our cue to leave.
The women’s bathroom also had no working lights.
You really can’t make things like this up. It really was that bad!
I’m a very reasonable person and I love giving good reviews normally. But this place. Ugh.
Never ever EVER will I step foot in there again.

Went here to meet some friends from work.
Tried the pumpkin burger. Didn’t taste much like a pumpkin but was ok.
Drinks and food were all half off! That definitely made everything taste great.
The ambiance was pretty ridiculous. There was a DJ and karaōke happened randomly throughout the night which provided a lot of hilarity. I felt bad since I was so close to the stage I had to be relatively polite.
Drinks were strong and I had fun but I would have been able to do that anywhere.
