Mark Linenberg of Lana Cyrus Salon

When I moved to Chicago, I searched all over to find someone who could tame my hair. I am very particular of who straightens and cuts my hair and have had terrible luck before finding Mark. We immediately bonded over our connection to Detroit and it put me at ease that he would be skilled in dealing with my hair texture. I am Black and I have thick curly/​coiled hair. It is manageable but not for the faint at heart as for because of the stamina needed to blow dry and straighten it. Mark is a versatile stylist and has an array of clients with varying hair textures and he handles my mane with ease. I have do not have any complaints about Mark’s work and receive so many compliments on my hair after leaving his chair. He takes his time with my hair and I never feel like he rushes through it. He recently colored my hair for the first time and I love it so much that I’ve requested more of his color magic on my next touch up. He truly listens to what you want and incorporates his touch into it that comes out perfect every time. I couldn’t be a more satisfied client. As a bonus, he is a fun guy to talk to and always has great stories to share!

Mark has been cutting my hair for, well, as long as I can remember. He’s a consummate professional and has an eye for bring out the best in you. I have had cuts, color, highlights, etc., from him and he’s absolutely the best in the business. The salon is always clean and neat, and the atmosphere is always upbeat. I fly to him for my haircuts.

Mark is a wizard master of cuts and color. I have really riotous ethnic hair, and Mark handled the wildness of my mane with complete ease. I have had many traumatic experiences at salons, so I was nervous about trying out yet another stylist. However, Mark calmed me down and has been working with me for nearly two years to get my hair healthy.
He’s cut and colored my hair bunches of times and each time I walk away feeling beautiful. I recently had an identity crisis and decided to chop off all my hair. He didn’t lecture me or anything negative, but rather he clarified what I wanted and gave me a really nice, REALLY short cut. I am still getting used to it, and several of my friends gasped when they saw it, but they all loved it. And my friends are pretty rude and blunt, so they were definitely telling the truth.
Even beyond the hair, Mark is a good person and I genuinely like him. He remembers my stories about my crazy family and was really sweet when I came in after my nephew passed away. He’s a great guy and a great stylist.

I have curly, curly hair. When I moved here from New York City 6 years ago, I refused to go to any salon here in Chicago. I was flying back to NY to get my hair highlighted and cut, because from experience, it is really, really hard to find a stylist who understands curly hair. I met Mark at a party, and the rest is history. He got my hair the moment he saw it, and I have been loyal to him ever since. Lana’s salon is fun and relaxed. Mark is ridiculously talented and honest about what he can do and what he can’t do with your hair. I recommend him with no hesitation. Plus he is hilarious.

I have been getting my hair cut with Mark for many years now and I have been very happy. Because my schedule is so busy, there have been a few times I have needed to go elsewhere and I always regret it! Most stylists don’t have a clue about curly hair– you leave looking exactly the same because they are too intimated by the curls. Not so with Mark. He really knows curly hair and knows how to create beautiful layers. No mushroom head or choppy layers from Mark. I always get compliments!

Mark knows how to bring out the best look for anyone! Over several years he’s given me the best and most creative haircuts ever. Whether it’s subtle highlights or something really bold and dramatic, he’s an artist. I have weird, thick but fine hair which is straight on top and wavy on the sides. I have never had any stylist who could consistently get it right until Mark. I continue to get compliments on my hair from complete strangers.
