US Post Office

This post office is outrageous. Not one person is qualified to work here and all should be fired. Being fully aware of the power of words and of their definitions, the people here are stupid, lazy and completely incompetent. That is simply the nicest way to phrase it.
I have complained to my Congresswoman and both Senators. I have spoken at length with the Postmaster’s representative for the region, I have even talked at length and repeatedly with the Postal Service’s congressional liaison in Washington, DC. Yet despite literally hours and hours of asking nicely, being firm, complaining, etc., absolutely no results have been yielded.
The letter carriers, the counter staff, the illiterate mouth-​breathers who sort mail, each and every one of these belligerent wastes of space should be criminally prosecuted for stealing Federal resources… from Mr Northington, to Ms. Coles to Lissette, to the rest of the mentall and social inferiors,
I am utterly astounded that any organization could attract such of large group of defective people, and am even more astonished that absolutely nothing has been done to correct this cesspool of uselessness.

These people are so rude, inconsiderate, unprofessional staff ever! I have no idea how they keep their jobs.
Who ever is in charge should be fired asap!!! They never answer the phone, if they do they just put you on hold until you hang up. It is like this every day.
They loose my packages often and there is no recourse.
I get mail from Rivernorth to this location and it takes them 4 days to get it delivered.
This is the worst run operation I’ve seen.

Don’t bother trying to process your passport or do anything important here at all. I always find myself waiting in line for at least 10 minutes. You better hope you put enough money in your parking meter because there’s no free parking here either. I’ve tried three times to get my passport sent out at this location. The first time was my fault because I didn’t know they only accepted cash or check. I came back with a check at 3:05 and they turned me away because they already stopped taking passports at 3. Ok rules are rules, I guess. So I came back this morning at 10am. The man at the counter told me that a woman who is in charge of processing the passports was supposed to be here at 10, but she’s not and he didn’t know when or if she will ever show up. What is going on here?

If convicted felons were sent to this post office instead of prison, they’d be asking to go to prison by the end of the day.
I was the first customer in line at 8:00AM today. When I went up to the register, I asked Darryl, the sales associate, to retrieve two packages (which should have been delivered to me but the mailman didn’t even try to deliver), and also asked him to get me a manager. Darryl got me Mr. Northington.
Northington was pleasant and found one of the packages for me, but then he disappeared and Satan’s Mother appeared instead. She goes by Lissette and claims to be the «Information Clerk,» except she doesn’t provide any information. By the way, I found out both her name and her job title because I overhead it through other conversations. When I asked the other woman working with Lissette (didn’t get her name, but if you were at the post office today, she was a black woman wearing a stripped shirt and a navy blue hat) who Lissette was and what her job title was, I was told that I didn’t need to have that information.
I gave Satan’s Ma the tracking number for the second package and she came back about 5 minutes later to tell me they couldn’t find it. Huh? Where did it go? They supposedly tried to deliver it but they couldn’t because the business was closed (the business being my residence), so where did it go? I asked. She said she couldn’t answer and that I needed to leave my phone number. At this point, I had been at the post office for at least 30 minutes, and I had no desire to go back just because she didn’t feel like figuring it out at that time. I said that wasn’t acceptable and asked to speak with Mr. Northington again. Her reply, verbatim, was, «I don’t want to deal with these people anymore,» and then she walked away.
So, I waited… confused as hell. Then I asked Darryl to get me Mr. Northington again. I don’t know what happened with that, but I didn’t get Mr. Northington. I did get Lissette again. At this point, I had literally been there an hour. Lissette said Ms. Bullocks (seriously) was working on it. I asked how long it would be. She said she didn’t know. I told her it was pretty absurd that I’d been there an hour and she couldn’t even give me an estimate. She said my options were to wait or not, but she wasn’t going to find out about the wait. I told her that she had been very rude and unprofessional the whole time, she replied, «if you think so.» I asked her if I could speak to her manager, and she said, «no.» I again stated that I wanted to speak to her manager, she walked away from me and as she did so, she called me a «bitch.» WHAT THE HELL!!! Even at the post office that kind of «customer service» is beyond egregious.
Eventually, I got to speak to Mr. Northington again, who located my other package, and I got to take it home. In total, I spent 1.5 hours at the damn post office trying to retrieve 2 packages that should have been delivered to begin with… there was no reason for me to go to the post office. I’d been home on Saturday, the day they supposedly tried to deliver, and Monday, they day they should’ve tried to deliver after the Saturday fail.
This place is a mess. Shut it the hell down.
As for Satan’s mom, that woman DOES NOT deserve a job. Seriously. There are at least 100 people that would take her job right now and do it with a damn smile on their face.
By the way, if you’re trying to reach this post office at the (773) 735… #, you won’t succeed. It’s a permanent busy signal. Consumer affairs provided me with (773) 508‑1201 as the better phone number for this location. That one rings, but good luck getting someone to actually pick up the phone.

Pros: It’s ok. They did their job.
Cons: Everybody who works here looks mean except for the older guy. But he’s not that nice either.

If it were possible, I’d give this place ZERO stars! I’ve lived all over Chicago and the suburbs — from Evanston to Glenwood … and this is THE WORST postal experience I’ve ever had. So on December 2^nd, I decide to take a chance on sending something Priority Mail. (What a joke!) I wander in, and standing at the counters were Moesha, Larryesha and Curly Joe. I ended up with Curly Joe, who appeared half asleep, but whatever. I give him my package, go home & start the tracking. Bottom line: my 1 day delivery package finally arrived TODAY, December 7. Yeah. Exactly. It seems CJoe taped the label onto my package in every direction — even across the bar code (which is a big no-​no, but he SHOULD know that, right?!), and the machine couldn’t read the computer-​generated label. I’m SO DONE with the USPS!!! Word of caution & advice: if it’s important, DO NOT, DO NOT, DO NOT use the USPS — and if you really truly have to go postal :-) … stay away from the one on Devon.

Just spent 30 minutes trying to get a package that was misaddressed (incorrect name due to computer error). Even though I showed the employees multiple emails and evidence that linked the incorrect name to my full name and address, they would not budge. Definitely seems like there is a lot of ego and a superiority complex happening there. The employees seem less than competent, unfriendly, and not helpful at all.

Awful. I“m on the board of our condo building. Our entire condo building has had nothing but problems for the last 3 years. Not receiving mail. Receiving other peoples mail on a regular basis. The carrier marking packages as delivered before they were delivered and sometimes days before they were delivered and now you can add THEFT. What carrier leaves 3 packages of «jewelry» in an unattended condo lobby of a 38 unit building in Chicago IL instead of just putting them in the mailbox? So who really took the packages, my neighbor or the carrier? HMMMMM…

Here we go again. The day after Labor Day 2015 and no mail delivery. The regular delivery person has been off all week and the delivery has been sporadic. Two pieces of mail left yesterday for the wrong address. What a mess. Call and the person answering the phone lies about the delivery. If I mail something I go to postal facility in Skokie.

I have lived in three different states and at least seven different addresses due to college and employment opportunities so I have had plenty of contact with post offices. And I have just never seen a post office be as disorganized and randomly unproductive the way this one is. When I moved, the very first perk (outside of getting away from certain neighbors) that made me smile was knowing I would no longer have to deal with Rogers Park Post Office after debating with them too many times to count over missed mail, undelivered mail, broken CD cases, mail shoved into boxes and anything else you could think of over the last 10 years. I was extremely sad when the post office on Clark (by Rogers Park Library) closed because that one was always so prompt, professional and reliable. When I saw the workers transfer to the Rogers Park Post Office, I felt bad for them because I knew all of that quality was going to go unappreciated there. Low and behold, those workers disappeared immediately. (Hopefully they found a better place to work.)
1) They never answer the phone. I have called at least 10 times and the line is always busy, but that 800-​ASK-​USPS number loves to tell people to call the local post office.
2) I’m still mildly offended by the post officer worker who felt the need to tell me how ugly Shirley Chisholm is and how much she looks like a man on one of the Black Heritage Stamps. I told the woman that Chisholm’s background should matter far more than whether anybody thinks she’s pretty or not. And the female worker who made the comment wasn’t anybody’s Kelly Rowland/​Beyonce Knowles/​Julia Roberts anyway so she could’ve kept that comment to herself.
3) After at least a year of back-​and-​forth with supervisors over packages not being delivered, that was finally resolved. I was completely drained and it left a bitterness about this location, but it was resolved. From about 2013 to 2015, things seemed to be looking up. The service got better. I got my packages. Lines are still unbearably long and they still refuse to answer the phone, but I had no more complaints. But now there’s a new problem: change of address.
4) The USPS website gives people three options to complete a change of address. Fill out the online form and pay, mail in the form to the local post office or give it to a mail clerk. I mailed change of address forms THREE times to the post office. Every last one of them came back to me unopened. Then I tried to give a form to the mail carrier, who refused to take it and told me the post office would take care of it (although this was just like any other outgoing mail). Then I went into the post office and physically handed over my Change of Address form (after standing in an unbearably long line). The lady at the window said, «I’ll take care of it,» circled my address and for three weeks, still no mail. I have talked to at least four representatives from that 800 number and not one of them seems to have a clue that the website gives you the option to NOT pay and mail the form in. All of them are confused about why the mail carrier wouldn’t take the form. And no matter how many times I type my address out, they all call and ask me the same questions: What’s your new address? Why didn’t you pay online? One lady argued me down about why I should’ve paid online. Why would I pay the post office ANYTHING when I have enough problems doing the basics? And if it’s mandatory to pay, then the website needs to remove the second and third option from the wording on the Change of Address page. They put it in fineprint, but it’s there plain as day.
I’d rather just not get mail altogether than give them a dime. Every time postage stamps go up or some other payment increases, the first thing I think is, «I’d have no problem paying more for better service, but Rogers Park single-​handedly has ruined it for all post offices.»
Four complaints later and no mail. I finally got so fed up that I went to each individual person/​company who I think would even humor the idea of sending me mail and notified them all. Whatever is missed will just be missed. I’m tired of listening to busy signals and customer service reps who want you to pay for something they’re supposed to do for free.

I love this post office. Its my second visit to this one. I chose it over the post office in uptown, due bad Unilocal reviews, lol. I have no complaints of Rogers Park location post office, service was great!

I haven’t gotten any mail for a week, so I call the usual number, file the complaint, and get told to go up to this place to talk to the supervisor about why I have yet to receive any mail…
This place is an unprofessional nightmare. Phone is always busy, you will die of old age waiting in lines, and the best part? Nobody knows why my mail has magically stopped being delivered. Not one single clue. How about you do your job and figure it out you insufferable twit?
Oh, and I also got accused of not living at the address despite bringing in my W2, insurance bill, and a credit card bill with my distinctly spelled name and address.
Rogers Park Post Office? You suck! It’s time to get all mail forwarded to my job at this point.

Where do you start? I live on touhy and Sheridan road, and they feel they will get to your mail when they feel like it! The last time a post man has been at my apt was sat, it’s now WEDNESDAY! I have my prescriptions that were suppose to be delivered MONDAY! But they didn’t have time for 3 days now to deliver my F mail! Then when you call them IT SAYS LINE BUSY! LINE BUSY?! Which means they turned the phones off! I’ve never ever been so pissed off then I have now! ITS THE POSTAL SERVICE WHICH MEANS EVERYDAY! Not when you get around too it!!! Then you call head quarters and Shaneesha tells me she will write a complaint and someone will get back to me in 72 hours! Bitch I’ve already waited 72 hours! NOT TODAY IM FUMING PISSED AND I WILL CALL EVERY HOUR ON TW HOUR UNTIL I GET MY PACKAGE!!! Believe that!!! No wonder the company is doing horrible!!! So I’ll be calling in a couple more min again until I get a better response, you know like helping me with the issue NOW!

This place is impossible to get a hold of. I’ve been trying to call for the last three days about a package and I get nothing but I busy signal. I swear they leave the phone off the hook on purpose. Stellar customer service.

every time I come here the line is slow and the line is long, and it’s been that way for as long as I can remember (10+ years). go to another location if you can.

I have lived in Rogers Park for 8 years, and this post office never fails to boggle my mind in terms of its incompetence and complete lack of concern for people actually getting their mail. They have lost numerous gifts, created Catch-​22 situations with our building’s buzzer box, and, currently, are holding my wedding dress hostage. I cannot wait until drones replace post office workers so that I no longer have to deal with the Kafka novel that is the Rogers Park post office.

This post office is one of the nicest however it’s like no one works here. Standing in line for 25 min and not one person walks up to the desk. It’s ridiculous — I don’t understand how employees here are paid to do nothing.

AWFUL ! i have been on and off of HOLD a dozen times and no one answers, pick up, click to hold!!! very annoying, i have a simple question it’s been way to long !!!
it will be nice to see the USPS fade away …

Every time I’m here there’s a huge line and only one or two people actually working. After waiting in line for nearly half an hour I was told they do not process passports despite the USPS website saying they do. They have no idea when they might or if they ever will.
I sincerely wish I could have a different post office handle my mail; the staff here is overworked and rarely seem to care about customers. I’ve never waited under 15 minutes in line.

Missed my Certified letter yesterday.
Picking it up now!
This is actually one of the nicest looking post offices I have seen.
The interior space is brightly lit and quite modern looking!
However, the fact that this past Saturday Morning I went in to this Post
Office to pick up a Certified Letter and there was only 1 person working
behind the counter did get my panties in a bunch so to speak.
Yes, this is true! There was a long line of people/​customers waiting to do
things that one does in a Post Office and yet we all heard laughing and major
carrying on in the room behind the counter.
So finally another happy/​laughing worker came out and stood behind the counter
and when this lady asked her a question she said it wasn’t her station.
I will agree with that because once I heard her say that I figured the train left
the station a long time ago without her.
So, anyway,
was my turn and I just wanted my damn Certified Letter
and that was it. No Stamps, No Envelopes, Nada, Zippo, Sayonara…
I said Thank You and left, Thank God!
So, in ending this is a visually appealing Post Office in comparison to many
others but it employs workers that are slow as molasses.
And some that have left the station apparently!
