A friend recommended the Friday night AYCE fish and chips a few months ago. It became a relevant recommendation this past Friday when fish and chips was all I could think about. We arrived at 6:50pm and there were 2 big parties ahead of our party of 5. I was getting nervous we wouldn’t get a table for a while. Turns out, we were sat within about 15 minutes. We cane with our 5 and 2 year old boys. I was kinda nervous about taking my kids to, you know, a bar. But it’s surprisingly family friendly and they have a kids menu. The staff is super friendly and fast! Our waitress even complimented our kids on their behavior and handed out suckers. So nice! We had cheese curds to start and they were amazing. My kids had a cup of cheddar broccoli soup and a plate of bangers and fries. They loved everything. My husband and I had the fish and chips and it was amazing. The fish pieces are a nice size and fried well. Our friend had a burger and said it was very good. We might end up Friday night regulars!

When moving to a new apartment you need three things within walking distance: a grocer, a liquor store, and a good bar. Simply put: Vaughan’s is one of the best neighborhood bars on the NW side. Super friendly staff, good food, great atmosphere. I’ve come here for weekend lunches with kids and solo to watch the Cubs lose. In both cases it fits the bill. And unlike a lot of trendier«neighborhood bars» this one isn’t overpriced. Important tip: Get the rewards card and fill out the online surveys whenever you can.

Finally started coming back to Vaughan’s after a few years — not for any particular reason, just not as close as other options, and was only here for drinks once. But this will no doubt become a clutch place to visit! Perfect variety of beer on tap. Awesome food. Fabulous staff. What more do you need? Wish we hadn’t waited so long to come back!

Didn’t expect the food to be so good for a bar, but was pleasantly surprised! They have a fun and lively bar scene too. Can get pretty rowdy some nights with the lads.

It’s a lively neighborhood bar with good food, good drink and 60 cent jumbo wings on Thursdays. The staff are courteous, friendly and professional. Definitely a good bar to put on your list. Did I mention there’s lots of parking?!

This is the go-to when the boyf and I are hungry and can’t decide where to go, lunch or dinner. Staff is always nice. And I love how they put a splash of Guinness and Magners in their Bloody Mary. Gotta try it :)

What a cute little neighborhood bar! It’s definitely an Irish bar. I had the luck of going there for the first time the weekend before St. Patty’s day for their Friday All you Can Eat Fish and Chips special. It was a Friday during Lent, and I was on a search for a fish fry in Illinois. I settled on fish and chips. With the St. Patrick’s Day festivities going on, it was difficult to determine if the lack of a seat at 7pm on a Friday was due to the popularity of the bar, or the fact that many people were out celebrating the holiday early. In any case, we took the one open table they had upstairs(yes, there’s an upstairs), ordered up a couple beers immediately, and put in for our fish and chips. It was loud. Really, really loud. Again, I think it was part of the festivities related to St. Patrick’s Day weekend, but Irish music was blaring through the speakers, one of which was located directly above us. Plus, pretty frequently during the evening, there were two lovely Irish dancers dancing up and down the aisles of the restaurant. It was fun to watch, but I think that Irish dancers wouldn’t be an everyday occurrence. Due to the place being packed, service was a bit slow, but nothing that was unexpected given the amount of people there. We weren’t checked on very frequently, but we were asked if we wanted another round of both beer an fish. I declined, but my husband enjoyed more. As for the food itself, it was good, especially given how much food they must have been preparing. The fish was cooked well in that it was nice and crispy on the outside, but not overdone on the inside. The fries were OK, I mean I ate them all, so that says something. I’ll be trying this place again soon. Hey, dinner out for 2(all you can eat) for a total of $ 26 before tax and tip? I’m there!

Friendly atmosphere and good food. Ordered one of the food specials for Thursday: $.50 wings. Drink special is also $ 2 Miller and Coors light Wings were a good size and the BBQ had a good taste. Its worth checking out for the wing special. The waitress was also working the bar but she never forgot about us and always made her rounds to fill drinks and check on our table.

Great fish and chips which definitely satisfied my pregnancy cravings! The only thing I was missing was a nice pint to go with it! :-) I will definitely be returning soon to try some other items on the menu which looked great!

This place must be blessed by leprechauns, because when you walk in, the stress melts away and, with a sigh and a pint, all if your troubles are behind you. The bar is very comfortable, and the crowd is legit, good folks out with family or friends for a bite to eat and some refreshment. I have been here a few times and have the same strange observation — no tools and no «wo-ho» girls. Somehow the chest bumpin sloppy drunk 20somethings dont’ drink here — thank heaven. The food is way above average pub-grub. They serve Irish Breakfast around the clock. The specials are great– especially the bacon & cabbage on Mondays, but come early on Mondays because the seem to run out a lot.

Old peoples home from what I could tell between the crowd and the lights on so high, no ambiance at all not helped by the sound from college games on that no one was watching… I am. sports fan but there are times when the jukebox is clearly the better option. Also don’t like how they crowd you in at the bar to get an extra tables in the place, even if they got rid of one of them you could back and forth to the bathroom with having to squeeze by a pole.

All you can eat Fish Fry for 10 bucks is what brought us to Vaughn’s. HUGE pieces of fish that came with fries and peas. Very delicious. We also ordered the mac & cheese which was unique and tasty. They used Merck’s or something because it was great. The only reason we are giving them 4 instead of 5 stars is because of the length of time we were there. The place was very crowded, we sat right away, but waited for for an extensively long time once we ordered. Granted, it seemed as if there was only one server on the floor and she was hustling, so maybe someone called off?

The best neighborhood bar on the northwest side of Chicago. The hospitality of the staff is great. The food served is outstanding and the weekly drink specials are a bargain. If you want to have a nice dinner have a few drinks while watching the game, Vaughan’s is the place. Customer for life… Great place!

Great little bar with an awesome beer selection to go with it. Easy street parking, which is so rare these days(at least in the city). And lastly, I can’t say enough about the bar food. Yum! We will definitely be back.
