Drove by this place on many occasions and always wanted to try it. Finally stopped in today and the friendly waitress recommended brisket as their best dish. Great, I ordered 3 pounds of it to go for the family. BIGMISTAKE, the meat is super dry and devoid of any flavoring. The bark around the brisket taste like charcoal. How can brisket be this bad? This is the worst brisket I’ve ever had. Should have gone to Lucille’s, now I’m stuck with 3 pounds of dry meat to myself cause my wife won’t eat it.

Joey’s BBQ is a cute little house with a wood chipped back yard. Super cute and friendly. I loved the ribs, chicken, sausage, and tri-tip all were above par. Both my husband and I felt the pulled pork lacked flavor. We have tried the pulled pork on a few occasions and now have given up on it. The Mexican Corn appetizer is yummy and the corn bread is soooo good. We have visited Joey’s on cool evenings and the inside was very warm, I don’t think I will visit them during a heat wave. We will make this place our new BBQ spot just minus the pulled pork.

Pretty disappointed. We’ve been going here for years and it keeps getting worse. 1. Our service was great, all the girls were super attentive and courteous. 2. The food came out fast, which was nice but it was all cold. It’s like it had been cooked earlier in the day and sat under a heat lamp. I had the tri-tip and my husband had the bbq meatloaf. He said his was dry and cold as well. Our kids had ribs and the Mac n cheese. No complaints from them! The food keeps going downhill. Don’t think we’ll be back for awhile.

Came here because I have seen this place several times in passing, but never knew anyone that had been here. Anyway, tried the sampler platter, brisket, chicken, sausage, beef ribs, pork ribs, ham, turkey, in other words the works! I would say everything was great except the sausage. Not that it was horrible, but I expected a little better. Also, I recommend the Pomona Queen Beer. We had about a 30 minute wait, but had some live entertainment. Some country singer that had his own style and he did entertain and talk to the customers. The service was great, our waitress Natalie was good, came around several times offering us water, refills and asking if we needed anything. She was AWESOME. Will be coming back soon.

This was our first time going here, my boyfriend had always heard good things about this place growing up in the area so we decided to try it for a birthday/Father’s day dinner. We were told it would be an hour wait, and we were absolutely fine with it as there was live entertainment out in the back at the bar. They had some pretty fairly priced craft beers so we were excited. We rang as per the sign, and no one came. We rang a couple more times over a 10 minute period and still no one came, but our party had just been called, so no big deal. As we’re walking to the reception desk we finally saw someone walk into the bar. So we got seated at the same time as another party of 2 who sat right across from us, and I’m dripping sweat from the absolute lack of air flow. The waitress immediately came out to take their drink order and walked away without so much as looking at us. I watched her serve 4 tables surrounding us, none of whom ever rose their flag, without ever getting our order even though our flag was raised. Finally the man we saw go into the bar earlier took our drink order, and since we had been waiting so long, our food order as well. He came back shortly with our drinks, and we weren’t checked on again until our food came out, and they forgot to bring out part of our meal. The bartender personally got our drinks again. I prefer my food with more kick than they make it so I was going to add a little pepper to my pulled pork, but the pepper was missing from our table and we couldn’t get a waitress to pay attention to us, again despite them checking on everyone around us constantly. We had asked for the extras(onion, jalapeño, and pickle), but it was ridiculous you need to even ask for one tiny jalapeño, 3 thin slices of onions, and 2 pickle chips for the amount of food you get. Their homemade bbq sauce was awesome, but that was reallying the only thing that impressed me there. Of course, once it was time for us to pay, the waitress was all over us. I thought the service was pretty awful, it was ridiculouslying stuffy and hot inside, and the food was okay. We likely will not be going back.

This review and rating is at the behest of my 11 year son. We drive by Joey’s several times a week and he regularly asks to go. Today being Father’s Day, his father and him chose Joey’s BBQ for dinner in Chino. Neither of them remember eating at the Joey’s BBQ located in Downtown Pomona several years ago so for them tonight was a new experience. For me, it was déjà vu. This is his review… i liked joeys bbq because the food was great and the waitresses where nice they also had a flag were you could pull it and they would come. at the back of the place they had a person singing and playing the guitar and he was talented in all i liked joeys bbq also the portions sizes were large. Now mine… Both males were extremely happy with their meals and the service we received. Our experience tonight was very much similar to the one had at the Pomona location, only with much friendlier and quicker service. I was happy that the portion sizes are larger than traditionally served elsewhere and despite my son still being able to order off the children’s menu we had foregone that tonight and let him order from the regular menu. It was the first time both father and son left the table full. My men ordered a BBQ Rib-eyed steak w/baked potato and cornbread and smoked ham with a baked yam w/marshmallow sauce and yam fries with marshmallow dip. I recalled not liking their brand of BBQ sauce at the other location so I asked the waitress to bring me a small taster when we placed our drink order, which she very willingly obliged. I recalled correctly. Not liking the house BBQ sauce at a speciality BBQ restaurant severely limits your meal options, especially when you are the kind of person who loves sauce and cannot eat meat unless you drown it. I ordered a house salad and convinced my son to share his meal so I could have a few bites of his sides. Fortunately I love salad and that can be a meal unto itself for me, but I really love yams. Had we been brought garlic bread while we were waiting, like other patrons who wrote reviews, I could have saved myself the $ 4.99 because this was the first time my son didn’t finish the entire meal(even an adult entrée) and ask to order more. I barely made a dent in my salad. I did taste the smoked ham, I found it rather flavorless but my 11 year old loved it. The baked yams were quite delicious, and the yam fries tasted great while they were hot. Overall, I believe the service was the most outstanding quality of our visit, followed by portion size. I think the taste/quality of the main dishes is not up to par with the prices they charge but the sides I tried were excellent. I’ll probably be back, but that’s only because I’m outvoted and both males were saying how much they enjoyed their meals, but IMHO it was the feeling of leaving a restaurant sated and receiving good service they enjoyed more than the food itself, with the exception of the yams. Make sure you have the marshmallow sauce/dip with them. My son had already asked«when can we go again?» before we had even gotten into our vehicle.

This place’s pasta is legit. I don’t really like ribs so I went with spicy pasta instead. Everything was perfect from the sauce, meat to the pasta. Eventhough it says spicy pasta but it was only on the mild level. Little bit of spiciness and sweetness, it was a perfect combination. This was the best pasta plate I’ve had in years. The portion was huge too, it probably could feed half of a village in my home third world country. I will definitely come back if I could overcome this food coma and survive.

I am always on the lookout for good food and a Saturday morning segment of Borrous’ Bites caught my attention on the KTLA News. He was at Joey’s Bar-B-Q in in Chino Hills. This is way far from where I live, but it looked good so I checked out their website and Unilocal reviews and stored it in my memory banks. Then on a recent trip to San Diego we decided to take the 15 so we could detour at an amazing Italian joint in Lake Elsinore. Unfortunately we got a late start and the we wouldn’t make it by their 8:45 friday night last call. So I suggested this place I heard about called Joeys BBQ and the family agreed. This meant another detour onto the 71, and everyone was asking, «WHEREAREWE???» Actually it was pretty easy to get to and didn’t add much time to the drive to San Diego. We arrived around 9pm on a Friday and the restaurant was relatively busy. They had an outdoor area with live music and a fire pit. I wouldn’t call it a patio… It was was more like a yard with shredded bark or wood chips on the ground. The inside is like an old house that was converted to a restaurant. You go in the back door from the parking lot and meander through a couple tight hallways to get to the dining room. The dining room is not that big, but I liked the feel of the place. Had a rural vibe to it. The hostess was incredible cool and funny… In fact the service overall was excellent. I was with my wife and 2 kids, so we went kind of big on the ordering to try some different things. My son really wanted corn bread which they have, and it is incredible. Addicting like a drug! I saw the El Guapo Sandwich on Bourrous’ Bites so we had to get that! A BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich on a roll, topped with a house-made Sausage Link. Not cheap at $ 15.99, but it’s a meal in itself and tasted pretty good. My 12 year old wanted steak, so we got the Steak-A-Bob which is 2 large skewers of Tri-Tip and Vegetables and comes with 2 sides. This was impressive in appearance. Quite large. But unfortunately the meat was really tough to chew. Disappointing, especially at $ 25.99! We also got a full Rack of Baby Back Ribs which were OK, but not great. Overall it was a lot of food, but kind if spendy for the quality. My favorite things were the corn bread and the Hanger 24 on tap which paired very nicely with the pulled pork in the El Guapo.

How can you go wrong with BBQ? Joey’s has always been my number #1BBQ joint to go to. Definitely better than going to a large chain restaurant where they’re only concern is turning tables. At joeys they provide you with the best service, they’ll make you feel like your family. If you’re ever in the area and need a place to eat BBQ. Head over to Joey’s BBQ. PS: the brisket sandwich ON garlic bread is amazing !

I have seen this place for years but recently went to try it out! Most of these reviews will say a bit«pricey» which is true but very worth it! I had tried the brisket which in my opinion should be a must if you go. Beer wasn’t very expensive and the experience was good! Recommend

5 stars absolutely loved this place. Even thought they ran out of cornbread on a busy Sunday. Live music in the speak easy beer garden out back. The wait was 30 min so I just enjoyed the entertainment. Cute atmosphere. Family and locally owned… SUPPORTLOCALBUSINESS!

Ordered the bbq platter, the Works: pork ribs, beef rib, chicken leg, ham slices, a slice of brisket and a sausage. A potato side(baked yam with butter) and a small side dish, I ordered the mac’n cheese and then added a side of collared greens. And then ordered the peach cobbler to top it off. This is a small place, it looks like it was once a house, but they know their bbq. It wasn’t busy on a friday night, but I don’t know why. The brisket was amazing, the chicken moist, and the sausage spicy. The yam tasted a bit watered down, but that was okay. They also gave you a piece of garlic cheese toast. I would definitely come back.

Pretty bummed this place disappointed. It’s so close to our office and smells so good when you drive by. Every Friday we order lunch for the entire office and today I chose to try out Joes. My barbecued chicken was undercooked, and not all that great. The coleslaw was nothing special. French fries tasted like they’d been made in old oil. To top it off our order was wrong, after getting back to the office we realized we were missing three of our sides and salad dressing. 1 star for bbq sauce. Don’t think I’ll be suggesting this place anytime soon.

After hearing so much rave about this place, I decided to take my aunt and uncle here. They recently came down from Taiwan to visit California for a few days and my uncle was really craving bbq ribs. We ended up ordering the baby back ribs, Mexican corn, yam, and cold slaw. The portions were all HUMONGO and my uncle and entire family loved it! Definitely order the mexican corn when you go! Joey’s BBQ is a great place to come with large groups! The portions are huge and prices are decent.

Placed a phone order early this afternoon for a party for pickup at 5pm. We made this order because we had guests coming over. We got here early and they said have a seat and would call us when ready. We waited half an hour and nothing. Asked the hostess the status and she said she didn’t know and she would call is when it was ready. Waited another half hour and nothing. Asked the hostess on the status and she said she didn’t know and couldn’t give me an estimate. Blamed it on a wedding they booked. I’m already late for the gathering I planned and all my guests were waiting. She came off as rude and annoyed I was asking her of the status. Well guess what, I’m also annoyed. It turns out my food wasn’t even started. If that was the case, she could have let me know. I cancelled my order and went somewhere else.

Been here twice and both times the food has tasted great(consistent quality). The staff is attentive and friendly. The food portions are pretty big, we ordered the three amigos plate and it was more than enough for two people. The price is reasonable for the amount of food you get, not to mention how great tasting it is. I like that they give you most of the bbq sauce on the side rather than drowning the food in the sauce like other places do.

This was my second visit within a two-year period, and both times were takeout. They are pretty packed for both lunch and dinner, so of course my expectations were high. The parking lot is tiny as it is just a small lot behind the restaurant, which looks like it used to be a small house. The building is old, which excuses the owners from needing to make the area handicap accessible. The bathrooms are closet-size and there is barely any room to maneuver throughout the restaurant. I place my order for the bf and received instructions to wait out on the patio and they would bring my order to me. I arrived at 12:30-order was completed and sent to the kitchen at 12:38pm-I waited for a long time and tried my best to remain patient because they were busy. At the back of my head, I kept wondering why heating up premade food was taking so long when everyone inside the restaurant was already eating. Then more tables were seated, one of the couples waiting for takeout decided to eat out on the patio since they had waited so long. Then the food for this party of 20 came out, so I went inside to see my order sitting cold on a rack. I asked the hostess why she did not bring out my order as promised or at least page me over the intercom. She just brushed me off and said to grab my own utensils and mints. The food looked decent even after we drove back home but the ribs were dry. I don’t consume much meat anymore so I just picked at the veg-a-bob and garlic bread. The bbq sauce was good. Food was very cold so I imagine it sat out for a long while. There are other BBQ places that are more organized and cost much less for more quality and portions. At this point, we probably will not be returning anytime soon, if ever.

Joey’s Bar-B-Q has a real nice outdoor seating area UNFORTUNATELY they have NO Waiter/Waitress service outside… they reserve it for Party’s, Luncheons and Weddings! makes NO sense to me if you have NO events scheduled why you wouldn’t open it up to your customers… MINUS1-Star I wanted to try a couple of their Apps but decided against it, I’m not into crowded places so our food was ToGo! Tres Hombres($ 24.99) Smoked Brisket, 1⁄3 Rack of Baby Back Ribs and ¼ Chicken this was the wife’s choice but I sampled each meat. Brisket, light on the smoke flavor but meat was tender… good but not great. Baby Back Ribs(Pork) the ribs were nice, wish there were more than just the 3 small ribs, not a big fan of whatever sauce they use. Chicken, Now I don’t generally go to a BBQ joint and order Chicken but this was the wifes choice and I must say the Chicken was moist and full of smoke flavor… while I’m sure they must have several Q sauce options, our order was ToGo so we only got one and wasn’t to our liking. Mac & Cheese — Not bad, very cheesy… tasted like Kraft Mac & Cheese Cole Slaw — El Guapo($ 15.99) A house made sausage link piled high with barbecued pulled pork A large sandwich, I thought the pulled pork was good but again«the sauce» no bueno, the sandwich also has a((Sausage Link)) not sure beef or pork? I should have tried the link on it’s own as I struggled to find it in the first place… if you’re gonna serve a large sandwich… about ten inches the sausage link should be in proportion… it’s not! «Size does matter» Baked Beans — Seemed like the flavoring was a bit off, but decent beans with little pieces of pork inside. Mac & Cheese — *See above photo & comment. Love the smell of Smoked Meat? YES I do! Overall food is a bit above average at 3.5-Stars, but since I can’t dine outdoors I won’t be returning.

Got brisket and beef rib to go for lunch. Good helping of meat, cooked perfectly. Flavorful even without the sauce. BBQ sauce goes great with the brisket. Best part of the brisket is the fat. Came with garlic bread, which wasn’t bad. The lady who took my order was courteous, and my order was promptly received. Definitely ordering from here again. Will come again to try the baby back ribs!
