Camp Run-A-Mutt – Chula Vista

I previously posted a review when my German Shepherd first started out as a camper at CRAMCV and gave 4 stars, and he’s been going now for almost a year, and I can’t thank Paul and the staff enough for the care they have towards my pup. I have no worries when dropping off my dog for daycare or overnights while in their care. I HIGHLY recommend this facility and had to update and give them 5 stars.

My dog loves going here and it is almost impossible to get him to leave! Everyone there is friendly, very knowledgeable and truly seem to care about the animals. The webcams are an excellent plus as well.

Just dropped the kids off for a day of pamper and play. Wendy gives great suggestions for the pampering part and Paul has shown quite a bit of patience with our crazy trio. Great advice for sure. Love Camp-​Run-​A-​Mutt!

Wendy, from Camp Run-​A-​Mutt has been grooming my Cairn /​Yorkie Terrier (Dexter) for about 2 years, ever since I rescued him. Best decision I could have made for him; he absolutely loves going to see her. I only have to say, «Dexter wanna go see Wendy» & he goes completely nuts with excitement.
He is always groomed perfectly according to my request, & always better than I could expect. Having been a rescue, Dexter was a bit skittish when I first got him, & had a bit of Social Anxiety, however right away he made a genuine connection w/​Wendy which I believe was instrumental in becoming the calm, affectionate, gentle dog he is today. I would strongly recommend Wendy/​Camp Run-​A-​Mutt Chula Vista to anyone who wants their pet to receive the absolute best in care, grooming, & love.

AWESOME CAMP! Owners are incredibly passionate about what they do, and staff is genuinely excited to be there, with excellent memory of clientele. Yard staff is attentive and detailed to every campers behavior. Could not recommend more if you live in this area!!!

I really like bringing my pup here. The staffs are friendly and gives you free advices which to my surprise works better than obedience classes he had. I keep forgetting the guy’s name but he gave me free behavioral techniques and it works! My 1 year old likes to pull during our walks but after (John) showed me a different way of putting on his leash my pup does not pull and is now walking alongside of me after first day of trial. We even walk without me holding the leash after day 2! No treats needed during training. What??? I payed $ 200 for behavioral classes for nothing.
Wendy is our groomer, she is super friendly and does great with my pup. She definitely knows how to make him look handsome. I highly recommend them.

EDIT (2−6−16): I hadn’t realized how far back we had the adoption event over at CRAM (if I may), but the current owner, Chad, sounds like such a generous and hospitable man. Will certainly run the idea of having another ARWOB adoption event in 2016 at CRAM Chula Vista to our event coordinator! :)
Duane and Laura are fantastic owners and genuinely care about the well-​being of the dogs in their establishment and within the community. They were so kind as to host an adoption event for our rescue at their facility on their grand opening. In addition to the setup they allotted for us in the front, they reserved a private yard in the back that we could use. I met many of the staff members here and everyone was so friendly and sociable. We definitely felt very welcomed here! I’d recommend their services to anyone and highly encourage everyone to try out cage-​free day cares for their dogs. I have used Camp Run-A-Mutt’s numerous times for my fosters and I can say that they return home very tired, happy, and always can’t wait to go back.

Jax loves coming to Camp Run A Mutt in Chula Vista!!! I love that everyone is so friendly and it’s obvious all the staff love dogs! I like that they have five webcams so I can check on him throughout the day. He’s always a very happy, tired puppy when he comes home! I would recommend this to any dog owner! P. S. The owner, Paul, is very knowledgeable about dogs and he takes the time to answer any questions I’ve had. I love this place, but important is Jax loves this place!

I work nearby and have been coming to CRAM-​CV since it first opened in 2014. The staff always take great care of my dog (Jane) and are professional and friendly. Wendy is an amazing groomer and she always gives me a full report on my dog’s grooming services. I like the Mutt Cam to check on Jane during the day. She comes home happy and tired. Highly recommended.

We have been dog sitting our son’s girlfriend’s dog. When Erica mentioned that Ella’s nails needed trimming, we were in a quandary since all of her health papers are 400 miles away. I called the guys at Camp-​Run-​A-​Mutt. They said no problem since she’s a small dog. Gosh, we were in and out in less than 10 minutes and Ella has nicely rounded nails. I’d highly recommend Camp-​Run-​A-​Mutt because of their cage-​free environment, and especially for their friendly and knowledgeable staff.

My first time here and called for an appointment. I feel horrible that I forgot the name of the lady who took care of my baby but she did an amazing job.
Walked in and very cool atmosphere, right away I was greeted! She took a quick look at my doggy and took down my number and told me to come back in an hour or so.
When I picked up my dog he was so clean, smelled so amazing, no cuts or anything!!! Sometimes when I take my dog to petco or whatever they say they accidentally cut him… –_​_​_​_​_​_​– but here I could tell that my dog was well taken care of. You can tell when people rush cleaning your dog and you can tell when they really pay attention to them.
I was ecstatic when Jax came out. He literally still smells like fruit, I don’t even know what kind of awesome shampoo they used.
Also when I was waiting for him to come out they have a cool waiting area where you can watch the dogs they are training. This is also a dog hotel! I would definitely come here again for their services. Only dog people should take care of your dog. :)

Staff truly loves dogs. Owner is so nice and accommodating. We took our 2 Bassets and toy poodle for 1 day. They had so much fun that we felt good taking them back for a 2^nd day so we could go to the zoo. Love the web cams. Checked in on our dogs throughout the day and saw they were having fun. I can’t recommend this place enough. We went to another location several years ago and they were great as well.

By far the best place I’ve ever taken my dogs to. Not only there are not stuck in a cage all day like at other boarding places, but they also get continuous attention and get to socialize with other dogs… At night, they sleep together around the staff… All dogs go through an evaluation process ensuring appropriate behavior. And bonus, the 5 webcams allow you to keep an eye on your pup (s) all day… You can see what a good time they have by yourself… Careful, it can be addictive

Our girl was needing some exercise and some more doggie friends and she got both here at CRAM! From the start I was impressed by the customer service. Owner Paul explained everything we needed to know about their services and pricing. They gave our girl a temperament test to make sure she was not aggressive — which of course gave us confidence that her camp-​mates were well all balanced. The live streaming cameras also helps to soothe any worries we may have when we drop her off! We’ve been coming back and will continue to do so. She absolutely loves coming here… she gets so excited when we hit the 4^th Ave exit!
I do wanna mention that another dog had a problem with ours, but owner Paul’s response was swift and appropriate and that dog is no longer a client there. I highly recommend bringing your dog (s) here!

Took my dog Marley to Wendy for a haircut and full package. It was awesome Wendy is the best groomer I have been to and I have lived all over the United States and other countries. Have had so many nightmare grooming visits in the past 10 years and my dog Marley hates the groomer & I always dread taking Marley to the groomer.
But after finding Wendy Marley loves Wendy and I trust Wendy now and she always goes above and beyond with taking care of Marley and does a amazing job every time.
Don’t bother with other groomers Wendy is the best you will find in San Diego and anywhere else.

Excellent place for boarding a pet for day care. We were visitors from out of town, and needed to find a place close to the Coronado Strand where we were staying, and it looked as though CRAM – in Chula Vista was the nearest, and maybe the only place available. Not even vets or RV campgrounds knew of available services!
So my rating: Great Service;
Great care for dogs;
Great mutt cam;
Great care of pet’s needs during stay;
Great attendants with great attitudes;
Great cleanliness!
With all these greats, it should be a five star, right?
Welllllll, We traveled from San Diego through KS, IL, IN, to MI, to OH, PA, DC, VA, WV, KY, and back to good old CA… all in all… about 7000 mi. CRAM-​CV was by far the most expensive care facility that we used. True, not all facilities are equal, but I’m guessing that the availability of service in the CV area makes the higher pricing possible, maybe even necessary. Lowest price we experienced on our trip was $ 16 in KY (okay, no mutt cam! but another GREAT facility); others were $ 25, 30, even $ 35 in one lady’s home in MI. This is not a knock on CRAM-​CV, but an honest opinion. Be prepared to pay! Oh yes, they give military discounts to AD and RET.

My baby Pebbles was groomed by Wendy at Camp and I will be taking he back to Wendy from now on. Wendy did such a great job my Pebbles and she was very happy. Pebbles attends the Camp and on Paul’s recommendation I took her to Wendy. Best groomer ever I gave her pictures because I am very picky and she did awesome. Pebbles came out looking great and smelling wonderful.

I’ve only used their grooming services and I must say, their groomer Kat is amazing! My dog’s nails have never looked this great!
My little (big) 9 year old chihuahua has never been a fan of getting his nails done. I was never able to grind them down myself because he would squirm and wiggle too much. When I went to other groomers they would always make me feel like a crappy owner telling me that he’s difficult and that he tries to bite the tools.
Kat was very helpful when I told her about Peanuts past issues. She explained to me the way she would do the service and made me feel comfortable about leaving my dog with her. After the service, she made it sound like he was easy peasy! He looked great and seemed happy
We’ve now had a few services done and she let me know that he was doing much better at nails. I even notice him getting excited when she comes out behind the doors!
When my Peanut is happy, I’m happy. So we will keep coming back to see Kat!

When cram cv first opened with the Hookers as the owners we LOVED this place. Great personalized service, great groomer (Kat!) and great employees who loved our Bailey.
But now with the new owners and some turnover, things have slipped a little. We can tell the new guys are trying to keep things normal but it’s not the same. There’s a lot of confusion bc they either don’t communicate between each other or ask the customers enough questions for full comprehension. One current example, when we dropped Bailey off this morning we were told that we would be charged less than a half day bc she was gonna play for 3 hours before her grooming appointment. That was very nice of them and we felt like our business mattered (we have been there since day one). But when I picked her up, they wanted to charge us for a full day. Even tho a half day is up to 5 hours, I ended up paying for a half day. It’s really no big deal to pay half a day but still, miscommunication occurred and it was a little annoying that it keeps happening. It made me miss the Hookers. It’s really not the same anymore.
All in all, we still love (notice it’s not capitalized anymore) cram cv and will never take bailey to another groomer, other than Kat, until we’re forced too. Kat also started a little club where you preschedule grooming dates with her to receive discounts which is perfect for us since we take Bailey every 3 weeks. She always makes sure to ask questions about grooming (what kind of cut you want) and she will call you in the middle of grooming if an issue like matting comes up. She will not do anything to your dog (like a shave down) unless you give her the ok or the not ok. This is very hard to find in my opinion. I know she’s been getting busier bc so she’s great! It’s exciting to see her doing well. Yay!
