Lawrence Dewan at Point Mortgage handled my original purchase and refinance. I just can’t say enough great things about him and his team. Lawrence truly cares about his clients. He went above and beyond to ensure that we were informed, educated and comfortable with the entire process (both times). He made himself available for all of our questions and really spent the time to ensure that we understood the answers. A year ago, I never imagined that I’d be a homeowner, as the process seemed so daunting. I could NOT have done this without Lawrence. I’ve recommended him to all of my friends/​family and I recommend him to you! Thank you, Lawrence, for everything! You have a customer for life!

They’re are 2 types of loan officers. Excellent ones and everyone else. I had the best experience with Lawrence Dewan. Not only did he cover what was needed to close, he actually emailed me step by step on where we were in the transaction. We were ready to sign almost 2 weeks before the close of escrow due to Lawrence and Maricela’s diligence. Communication never ceased from start to finish. Due to contractual requirements I had to cross qualify with the sellers agent and Lawrence took care of getting him all the information he needed to get our offer accepted. Thanks for all the hard work Lawrence and all those involved in getting us into our first and dream home.

Avoid Point Mortgage at all cost! It will cost you dearly to work with them. I was in the process of purchasing a home and my realtor suggested I use Point Mortgage. He failed to disclose that his wife would be my agent and that she was inexperienced in the business. She was being mentored by Point Mortgage. She made assumptions about my loan without consulting me or confirming how I was funding the loan and proceeded to provide me with advice that I later learned was illegal. She proceeded to fund the loan by assumptions that she made by talking to her husband that were incorrect. By her actions, I learned I was violating the Patriot Act (I was using a family members equity to fund a transition loan for me until my house sold). Her husband admitted to the mistake and then when I threatened to sue, he changed his story. Point Mortgage then pulled a bait and switch. They acknowledged that the mentee never should have been given as much authority as she was provided but instead of correcting their mistake, which they admitted, they tried to force a loan on me that had a higher down payment and interest rate. They were awful to work with, never tried to right their wrong which they admitted, and as I had already signed off on all the contingencies (at the assurance of the mentee and Point Mortgage that my original loan conditions were valid), I lost $ 6500 in forfeit to the seller when I had to pull out due to the new loan being so unfavorable that it was not realistic to proceed. Further, Point Mortgage and my realtor tried to convince me to sell my home in a manner that I learned was illegal and their assurance of what my home would sell for were grossly exaggerated. I followed the market in my area, and had I followed their advice I would have lost an estimated additional $ 100K. Do yourself a favor and find a mortgage company that cares about its clients, not Point Mortgage.

I purchased my home in Oct 2013. I have a very rough travel schedule and was continually out of the area. This proved no issue with Point Mortgage. There account staff was excellent and kept me abreast of the process through every step. I closed my loan in 17 days. In addition I refinanced my loan 6months later, again, the process was seamless and the experience was awesome! I will definitely use Point Mortgage in the future.

I bought my home through this company back in 2013. My schedule at work was, still is, very complicated, so they worked around my schedule. They showed me homes from very early in the morning to very late at night, depending on my hours at work. It was my first time buying a house, so I needed a lot of information and someone willing to explain and really help me with the process. They did just that! I felt like I was in good hands, and I was!
Because of the excellent experience I had with this company, there was no question who I was going to use to refinance my house. As expected, everything went smoothly and they took care of me. They delivered, again!
Based on my experience with this company, I would recommend it to everyone.

I wish I had read these reviews prior to starting our refi with Point Mortgage. The whole process took an exhausting 4 months. I was not going to write anything about my experience with this company at first, but I hope my review will help in informing prospective clients into what they are getting themselves into. The entire process was extremely slow, frustrating, and at times infuriating. Every phase of the loan was exhaustingly slow and unmotivated on their part. I constantly had to call them to see at what stage my refi was at. The list goes on and on. I should have gone to a different company, but I did not and that is my own fault at the end of the day. I guess my primary complaint is that there is no ownership, no one to take a little personal responsibility when the loan becomes a little complicated. I’m not sure if the employees there are overworked, or just don’t care, but I advise anyone to go somewhere else, don’t be just another number.

All started well, and ultimately I got the house I was told I qualified for. So for that I cannot complain. However, the process was riddled with oversights and miscommunication or even LACK of communication. I had to sell my condo before buying my house because I was reusing my VA eligibility. When it came time to close on the new house, I was bait and switched to a 5 year ARM… On Christmas Eve. Mind you… I had already sold my condo. I refused to accept a 5 year ARM. Thankfully my loan officer got the mortgage through but I had to bring substantially more to close. The process took nearly 3 months. I nearly became a non-​home owner. The buyers of my home were Veterans HOWEVER they bought the home for their child, which is a HUGE no-​no if you know anything about VA Loans (I smell a rat). Although my loan officer pushed my loan through, she was not a good communicator and it took several calls and sitting in the office just to speak with her. Thankfully my loan has finally been sold from this company. They told me my loan was being sold to Pennymac and received no further information. I spent over an hour with Pennymac trying to figure out where my March mortgage was to go. I just got info that it was sold to Wells Fargo (for which I am happy as I already have accounts with them)… I would NOT recommend this company in anyway. Yes I got my home, so all can be forgiven, but the heartache nearly lead me to having to find an apartment after selling my condo… and there were many tears and fits of rage that had to be endured. I am a pretty organized even keeled, HONEST person… I expect the same when I do business.

Unethical loan officer Luiggi De Anda issued a letter of approval for a buyer that had a foreclosure in the last two years. He let the buyers believe they qualified for a loan and did not disclose to agents that there was no way they could purchase a house. Both buyers and sellers paid for inspections and appraisals, repairs etc… All along Luiggi knew the loan would not be approved.
Will not accept offers from buyers using Point Mortgage.
