History

Established in 2007.

I began taking photographs when I was a sophomore in High School. That same year I sold my first photo to one of my teacher and I decided right there and then to pursue it full time. I’ve spent the last 8 or so years doing freelance photography but focusing mainly on taking portraits. Arcana is the name I chose to brand my photography. It was dictionary.com’s «Word of the Day» on January 3^rd 2008. I loved the word upon reading it. The word itself had an nice aesthetic look and sound to it and I became obsessed. I’ve been using the same name for a little more than 8 years and I hope to never have to change it.

Business Owner

My name is Ricardo Perez. I started doing photography back when I was in high school. I grew up in Little Village my whole life then moved to Cicero when I turned 24.

the neighborhood I grew up in wasn’t the best neighborhood to be in. I wanted to start my business many years back but a lot of my equipment kept getting stolen. My investments were digging a deeper hole instead of creating a foundation so I had to take some time to reconstruct and basically start all the way from square 1. It hasn’t been easy but with the help of my friends and family as well as my community I’m feeling very positive about the future of Arcana.
