History
Established in 1933.
Union Terminal was originally built as a train station. The building has had many lives, including one as a shopping mall, but in 1990 it officially opened as Cincinnati Museum Center. Cincinnati Museum Center at Union Terminal now offers three museums under one roof: The Cincinnati History Museum, the Duke Energy Children’s Museum and the Museum of Natural History & Science. It also houses an OMNIMAX Theater and the Cincinnati History Library & Archives.
This art deco gem, a National Historic Landmark, is our most precious artifact and is beloved by Cincinnatians and out-of-towners alike. In 2007, it was voted one of the country’s most popular buildings by the American Institute of Architects.
