Stayed here for a mini staycation with my husband. We booked the special occasion/​romance package and a king whirlpool suite. I would do the package again but the whirlpool probably wasn’t worth it… not enough jets to make for a really relaxing soak. The package included extras that we enjoyed very much: champagne & chocolate covered strawberries, a beautiful flower arrangement, late check out and breakfast (either buffet or room service).
Our room was clean and comfortable. The floor plan was a little awkward, particularly in the bathroom — probably because it is an old building.
Would definitely stay here again if I wanted a nice hotel with a good location in the city. :)

The Hilton Cincinnati Netherland Plaza is a beautiful hotel as you can see in so many of the pictures! I stayed one night last week with a friend for a vintage shopping trip so I didn’t have much time to roam around. I chose to stay at the Hilton based on reviews, price and being a four star hotel.
I purchased a King Bed Mini Suite room through the hotel with my AAA discount. I’m pretty sure there was a holiday special going on so with fees I paid $ 132. I also signed up for Hilton’s free HHonors program. When you are a member you get to pick which available room you would like to stay in once you check-​in from their easy to use app. Members also get free wifi and room upgrades when available! I called the hotel to see which side had river views (odd room #‘s) and picked a corner room because they seemed more spacious. Many reviews complained about small rooms while other reviewers had large rooms. The room I chose was 2840. Part of the room was on the river side.
After a day of visiting the Krohn Conservatory & The Cincinnati Art Museum in Eden Park and a couple vintage stores we headed to the hotel. I had planned on valet parking because the price wasn’t much different but ended up self parking instead. We parked in the Mobley Parking Garage, which is connected to the hotel. We were on the first level and had to make our way through an area of shops while following signs for the hotel. Once you reach the Art Deco elevators you just have to go to the main level of the hotel and you will see the lobby. I’m not sure how other levels of the garage connect to the hotel.
Since I checked in online already we quickly received our room keys and a HHonors gift which was a couple pieces of chocolate. All we had to do was get to the 28^th floor to relax after a long day of walking. I always have anxiety when I have to get on an elevator and will take the stairs whenever possible. It didn’t help reading reviews about the old elevators being beautiful but scary and slow! I didn’t want this trip to an Art Deco hotel to end like an episode of American Horror Story Hotel! I prepared for a terrifying ride up to the 28^th floor. The elevator was pretty and spacious enough for my anxiety to not be increased. I hit the 28 button, the doors shut and we glided upward. I was surprised at how quickly we ascended based on the reviews. The elevator didn’t make any abnormal sounds either. It did move a little like someone was walking around but it was not bad at all! The doors quickly opened once we reached our floor, I hate when that takes forever, and we headed to the room.
The room was spacious (see photo). Some people had complained about cleanliness but I thought it was very clean. There wasn’t even a hint of an odd smell like some hotel rooms have. The room was nice and cool. The only odd thing, which I didn’t find out until later since I didn’t used the restroom first, was it didn’t appear we had a fresh new roll of toilet paper. The room had a total of four windows. In the main room one was facing the river side of the hotel and the two others the side of the building. In the small area that led to the restroom was another window facing the side. The restroom was small but clean with decent water pressure. While there was a pedestal sink the ledge above was great to place products while getting ready. The décor was a little dated but had a neutral pallet and was high quality. The bed was comfortable with plenty of pillows. Overall I was very happy with the room.
That night we went to dinner at Sotto (very good!) and before we left we had a drink at The Bar at Palm Court. Both drinks were good and well priced. We decided to drive since it was cold. You only have to pay for hours spent in the garage if you don’t keep your car in the garage all night so we paid at the machine by the door before getting in our car and off we went. We just grabbed a new ticket when we got back. Overnight parking is $ 15.
In the morning we packed up and headed down to get breakfast. Since it was 10:50 and The Grille at Palm Court stopped serving breakfast at 11:00 we decided to eat there. The hotel held our bags while we ate. We missed the breakfast buffet which would have been more food for the same amount of money. I enjoyed my breakfast which was 2 eggs, hash browns with peppers and onions, a tiny fruit cup for $ 4 and toast. I also got hot tea (complementary) and a mimosa. Next time I may try Hathaway’s Diner, especially if I miss the buffet. We passed it on the way to the parking garage.
I would absolutely stay at the Hilton Cincinnati Netherland Plaza again and I would recommend it to others!

Came here for a wedding — the room where we had the rehearsal dinner was fabulous — the service for the rehearsal was amazing as well. If youre not spending top dollar though at this place though dont expect great service. Upon our arrival we waited for 30 minutes in our room before the bellhop arrived with our luggage. Not only that but check in was disorganized and the staff seemed poorly trained to deal with standard check ins. The breakfast buffet was nice but the service along side it was slow and unprofessional. Room is small. As a hotel its not great — my three stars solely is for the rehearsal dinner which was phenomenal.

The rooms are a bit dated but very comfortable. The downstairs restaurant is really beautiful. There is no other place in Cincinnati with the grand style and beauty. The rooms are spacious. When I have experts come into town I put them up there.

I stayed at this hotel recently for a conference, and it was a pretty good stay overall. The room itself was super spacious. Seriously. I could have fit a whole additional standard sized hotel room in that room and still had space. I will say though that the bathroom was a bit on the small side, but that was a fairly minor issue. The beds were super comfy, which is one of the most important parts of visiting a hotel in my opinion. All of the employees I interacted with were quite helpful and pleasant to speak with. I will say that the plaza itself is a bit confusing. It took my friend and I a couple of days before we sorted they layout, which doors to enter/​exit, etc. I feel like more signage would be helpful to reduce some of the confusion. At any rate, the hotel visit was a good one, and I would likely choose to stay here again.

I’ve been to several events at the Hilton Netherland Plaza in their Hall of Mirrors, and after my first overnight stay last night for a wedding, it seemed high time to right a review of my experiences with the Cincinnati Hilton.
The catering for banquets is really top notch. Service is high class, attentive, follows etiquette protocols, and they really seem aware of details that make your dining experience great. The staff know how to serve and clear without distracting from whatever speakers or events are the focus. All the dishware and table service are very nice quality, and I have yet to see a spot, tear, or any sign of wear on any of the napkins and tablecloths.
As far as the food goes, I can only say one thing that isn’t really spectacular. I’ve had 3 different salads, and every last one of them has been kind of meh. Iceberg is iceberg is iceberg. There’s not much they do to make it more exciting. But the other food… let me just say, their chef knows how to make a short rib that just melts in your mouth!!! Every dish I’ve eaten is well-​seasoned and delicious!
The Hall of Mirrors itself is a gorgeous room, and I’ve seen it set up for professional luncheons, formal presentations, and the fanciest wedding you could imagine. Getting one room to work for all those purposes is pretty impressive.
As for the actual rooms, the hotel is gigantic! Tons of rooms are usually available, unless they have three weddings booked on the same weekend as ball games, so it’s wise to reserve well in advance. The entire feel of the hotel is very art deco/swanky/glamorous…kind of like going back in time to the 40’s. The hallways are beautifully lit and papered, and the rooms feel very much in line with the history of the building. If you like a more modern hotel, this isn’t the place for you. The fixtures in the bathroom have been modernized and look very clean and fresh, and they’ve kept the old-​fashioned feel while making sure it works for modern guests. The bed was really firm, so I wasn’t as comfortable as I like to be, but with all the fluffy pillows, I made it work. We had a minor issue in the morning: the entire hotel was without hot water for about 45 minutes. I called the front desk for info; they apologized profusely and paid for our parking to compensate us for the inconvenience. I had a chilly shower, but those things happen… They definitely made it right, as much as they possibly could.
The Hilton Netherland Plaza is a fantastic, quintessential Cincinnati landmark. The history, gorgeous architecture, wonderful customer service, and quality of events they host are wonderful, and it’s a great stay for anyone visiting our city!

The history of this hotel and building took it from 4 to 5 stars for me. Be sure to read the whole story while you’re there, and tour the building beyond just the lobby and your room.
We stayed here for a one night getaway.
It was perfection.
The suite was crisp, clean and classy.
We enjoyed access to one of the rooftop decks, dined in the gorgeous resteraunt downstairs and slept well in the comfortable bed.
What a treat!

Worst Hilton that I have ever stayed in. Loud and not clean. Trying to fall asleep and keep hearing my loud male neighbor who is apparently losing their virginity. I’ve had good sex, but really? Also, stool on the toilet, toothpaste in the sink. Gross. Only positives are the people who work at the front desk and at the valet, who are pleasant and professional. Also, live jazz on the weekends in the lobby restaurant/​bar.

We stayed here as a last minute, quick get away thing. And because I love Art Deco. What a place! It’s like walking back in time. The wood is endangered Brazilian rose wood and looks like the hotel is probably what caused it to become endangered, there’s so much of it! The murals are rich and well taken care of. They’re huge! And the original, delicate, sconces are everywhere.
We had a drink at the Netherland bar. The seats are shaped like clamshells and, of course, I had to pose. I’ve always wanted to try a mint julep and can never seem to find a bar with real mint. I asked the nice server if he’d muddle mint for me and he actually knew what I meant and had the mint! My mint julep was delightful but when I tried to order a second, the server told me they were out because they GROW IT ON THE ROOF and their plants are down to nubs. On the roof!
We ended up, through great and accidental fortune, getting a tour through the three main rooms of the hotel by two very nice hotel security guys. They told us some of the history of the hotel and kept hinting that we should get married there. It would be a magnificent place for a wedding. There are so many old fashioned, bronze mirrors and sconces and paintings and the floors and details are just mind blowing. Doris Day, I think it was, had a roller skating party there!
Our room was nice. A room. Clean, the bed was comfy. I do think something was in the pillows or detergent we were sensitive to. Down? I don’t know but we were a bit scratchy in the morning. It was totally worth it. Great trip. The people there were fantastic. The concierge even figured out there was a vegan Indian restaurant near by for me, though we ended up walking to a pizza place instead.
Only complaint– parking garage. Ugh. But they all suck, don’t they?

Stayed at this Art Deco hotel on a baseball weekday trip seeing the Cincinnati Reds play St. Louis. Even though this place dates to the 1930s, it is a very nice choice in downtown Cincinnati. From our window we could see both where the Bengals play on the riverfront and the light stands for Great American Ball Park of the Reds. So this is a perfect location if you are in town to work downtown or to visit the two major athletic teams.
Our room was nice size… just a single big room with attached bath. Two queen size beds that felt very nice, a pair of arm chairs, and a nice wide screen TV… everything one might need for a nice night of sleep. They built these old hotels rock solid so you won’t hear people traipsing over your head at night. The bathroom was a tad on the small side, but had nice amenities and they replaced them every day… they didn’t try to cheap it on the soaps and shampoos. The topper for this hotel was the fitness club.
The fitness club is in the lower lobby and they had to have 50 machines and free weights if they had one. The hotel either partially owns or simply contracts with the fitness center, and it is a winner. A pool is included as are towels and lockers… all you do is sign in on entering as it is free for hotel guests.
The Hilton Netherland is across the street from Fountain Square so you can go out and hear the musical groups the city sponsors in the evenings. Across the other side is the Westin Hotel so this area is a happening place for activities. The Hilton is a nice hotel for a Cincinnati stay especially for Reds games as it is just a short walk there. Try it.

This place sucks, plain and simple. The rooms and ambiance are delightful, the staff and management not so much. They managed to ruin a wonderful weekend with their ineptness. So the elevator power breaks down and right when we have a half hour to get to a Wedding service we have to take the stairs 26 floors. Now this is an older hotel, so we were not upset about this so much. What is upsetting is their complete lack of any procedures to manage that situation and as an older hotel I am sure, has happened before.
They do not have a single employee in the stairwells to assist people, no one there to hand out a bottle of water or two as people go up and down. Not a chair to sit and rest, nothing. When I spoke on the phone before we left their answer was don’t go to the wedding then, sorry. These guys define the word idiots. They are very good at saying sorry and pretty bad at doing anything to assist people that need help. Some elderly people in the wedding were on high floors. Hilton International should be ashamed of themselves for the complete lack of doing anything to help their customers. The General Manager, Matthew Coffey had no answers for anything and felt a $ 150 credit makes up for the fact that he has no idea how to manage a crisis.
Think about this, not a single staff member in the stairwells. And this power issue was going on all weekend so it was no surprise when it totally shut down a half hour before the wedding begins.
And that is not the end of the horrific service. When we checked out on Monday, they had no one to assist with bags. They told me they did when I called and after 45 minutes and a very rude staff person we just schlepped everything down ourselves. The elevators where working at that point, so it wasnt so terrible. But the person I spoke with 5 times kept saying they will be there in 5 minutes over and over. What a lovely end to the weekend.
They have two stars and not one because the wedding party was a blast and well done.

This is a beautiful hotel. It’s classic & not modern, so if that’s not your thing, this place won’t be for you. But the service is outstanding! If something goes wrong, they will bend over backwards to make it right! I had ordered a cheeseburger for room service. The way you order room service is through the TV. Sounds hi tech, but it’s not very user friendly. I like ranch with my fries & thousand island w/​my burger & also wanted to make sure they brought ketchup. I couldn’t figure out how to request it on the TV, so I called & requested it after placing my order. What was annoying, is that I could barely hear the person I talked to, & she kept asking the same questions. Please write it down, especially if the phone connection is bad. Please also speak louder. That would be very helpful. Anyway, When my food was delivered, I was missing the ketchup, so I asked if he could please bring it up to me. He agreed. I started eating while I was waiting for the sauce, & I was disappointed that the burger wasn’t that warm when I got it, not to mention really greasy (so the bottom part of the bun was soggy; so much so that I folded the white cloth napkin & placed it beneath the burger — sorry, but that’s all I had available). The lettuce & tomato were placed beneath the burger patty, so that was soggy as well (they do that to prevent the bun from getting soggy, but that also makes everything else soggy & saturated in grease). Then it took at least 15 mins. to get ketchup. By the time I called to ask about the ketchup again & it was finally brought to me (it was apparent he had forgotten, because he apologized for forgetting), my soggy, $ 22 burger was cold. Before the ketchup was delivered, I had already left the tray outside my room, as I was really disappointed. The staff was super apologetic & removed the charge from my bill. Not only that, but when I arrived back at my hotel the next day, I came «home» to a really beautiful fruit, cheese & nut basket, & apology letter. That’s awesome! Way to go! Fantastic service, beautiful, classic hotel! For me, all of that made up for the disappointing burger!
However, Dear Hotel staff — there are a few things that could definitely improve. See above.

Stayed here one night in 2008, to celebrate a birthday. Probably one of the best hotels in Cincinnati, and as a plus it is located in the heart of downtown. It is close to many hot spots in the «city» and it is connected to Saks, Macy’s and Tiffany. The room was spacious and beautiful, but the bathroom a bit small. Overall, Hilton Cincinnati is a good stay in Cincinnati.
Three and half Unilocal

First off, the Netherland Plaza is a beautiful hotel, and well worth visiting. However, you can view the lovely Palm Court (once the grand lobby) and beautiful murals without spending a dime. All the best parts are public areas, while the rooms feature the same bland décor you’ll find in any Hilton Hotel. But we knew that when booking, and it was just a tad more expensive than other downtown hotels with comparable rooms, so we went for it.
While we absolutely did enjoy checking out all the great art deco details of the hotel, the overall experience was just ok. And then there was this:
Sometime past midnight, we were jolted awake by someone in the hallway yelling «F*****g n****r!», then slamming a door. I realize that hotels can’t exactly screen for those likely to scream racial slurs in the middle of the night, it was just unsettling, particularly for what was supposed to be a nice hotel.
I’m not in a hurry to stay again, though I can easily recommend stopping by the restaurant or bar for the great art deco décor if you’re in town.

We celebrated our anniversary with a quick getaway to Cincinnati to see the Reds play, watch the fireworks and have a night away from the kids. We chose the perfect hotel as the Hilton took care of everything.
It’s the little things that you notice as others have noted on this page. One, I got an email from the concierge of the hotel 5 days before my arrival asking if there was anything I needed to have arranged prior to arrival. Since we figured we would be at the game and didn’t know how to time arrival or return, we skipped this… however, good to know that in the future if… no when we visit again, I can surprise my wife with a little something special on our arrival.
We were upgraded and our room was huge. A hotel room with a walk in closet? We have that. A retro decorated bathroom with huge sink, separate shower and bath, and separate toilet. I have stayed in rooms smaller than the bathroom we had. And a shower with 6 shower heads? Yep, got that too. Ours was a very cool room to have in my opinion. We also had a partial river view.
The hotel is within walking distance to both the Reds and Bengals stadiums. Also short walk to downtown restaurants, pubs and the like. A perfect location. It is connected to the Carew Tower which has an observation deck (small additional charge) to look over downtown and the Ohio River.
Access to the Belvedere Lounge was included. A pleasant place to have breakfast the next morning after sleeping in. A Late check out was also granted on our request.
All this and we still didn’t get to experience the restaurant and lounge downstairs, or look at all the beautiful decorations that this historic property has to offer. That said, we have found our home base in Cincinnati the next time we come to see the Reds, or just celebrate a kid-​free weekend. Happy Anniversary to us. Thanks Hilton Netherland Plaza!

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying at this amazing hotel the weekend of Taste of Cincinnati, May 22 – 25, 2025.
We had reserved a deluxe room with a King bed, and enjoyed an upgrade at check-​in to a mini-​suite with a King bed. Check-​in was very quick, professional and the clerk was friendly, professional and polite.
The bell desk staff were outside to greet our taxi and quickly took our luggage inside. Upon check-​in, our luggage arrived to our room within minutes.
The room was quite comfy, with enough space to not feel as if we were cramped. Plenty of closet and drawer space, and the room included a complimentary refrigerator and safe.
One evening, we enjoyed the Belvedere Club, which is accessible with your card key for certain types of rooms. They offered some light snacks, drinks and a terrace with an amazing view. Beverages were charged to our room and when I asked for the rest of the can of Diet Coke (to go with my Captain Morgan and Diet Coke cocktail), the server encouraged me to take an unopened can. As we were on a tight schedule, I asked for just the rest of the can she had just opened and she was hesitant to give it to me, as it had a dent. She explained they prefer to use those at the bar, which is just one of the many little details that likely go unnoticed but really add to the service and prestige level of this hotel. As a side note, as a smoker, I appreciated the dedicated area on the terrace which permitted smoking, so I could enjoy the view, the sunset, and the adult beverage without having to stand on a street corner.
The property itself is amazingly beautiful and we, along with our three friends, enjoyed the self-​guided tour provided in the hotel information guide. The fixtures and details are original Art Deco, and have such an amazing beaut and ornate ness that one is awestruck by the longevity and glamour.
We enjoyed the Sunday Brunch at the Orchids at Palm Court with several of our friends. Our original reservation was for three people; however, another couple was able to join us. We tried to change our party size, but due to the maximum capacity being reached, it looked impossible. In stepped the hostess, Miesha, who quickly rearranged a few things and seated us at a round table, in the most perfect spot in the room. Easy access to the buffet, but not in the direct path of other diners. We were again so thrilled with the level of service, which sets this hotel apart from the other upscale properties in the downtown area.
The entire stay. Every question or request we had was met with professionalism, a genuine concern for the guests and a «will do, it’s my pleasure» attitude. Kudos to the management team for empowering the front line employees to adeptly assist the guests! A special thanks to Matthew Coffey, Assistant General Manager, who assisted us with reservations, transportation and ensuring his staff made us feel personally welcome!
Upon our departure, we called the eve prior for a late checkout and that request was again granted, without hesitation. The bellman quickly hailed us a cab, loaded our luggage and bid us a heartfelt goodbye and «come again, see you next time»!
Certainly, if you are in the Cincinnati area, for business or pleasure, you should treat yourself to a stay at this gracious hotel. Amazing location, fantastic staff and historically rich décor all contribute to the overall five-​star experience. Well done!

4 Stars for the service and the architecture. 3 for the room itself. We booked a wedding block here and everyone has happy with their stay but the rooms were not quite as nice as I had expected. But for the price and the hotel architecture we were pleased with our choice. They gave us complimentary champagne and strawberries in the bridal suite which was a nice touch.

What a beautiful hotel! I love staying at historic hotels such as this.
The staff at the front desk upon arrival was friendly as you would expect from Hilton. We made our way up to the 26^th floor to our room. At first I was a little disappointed by the size, It seemed a little small, but loved the view outside, and quickly grew accustomed to it. The room was very clean!
The nice older gentleman outside pointed us to a few things, and we went for a walk around the hotel and downtown. We soon realized we forgot our cell phone in the car. The valet was nice to go to our car and bring us our forgotten item very quickly.
Upon check out, I did let the lady at the desk know the Air Conditioner was a little noisy at night. It really was not a big deal to me, but they wanted to make sure everything was taken care of with that, and even offered some compensation, which was not really necessary, but they took customer satisfaction very seriously.
Next time I’m in Cinci, I will definitely come back to this location! Walking distance to many nice restaurants, and the Great American Ball Park! (Go Reds!)
I usually don’t post 5 Stars unless I’m blow away. The service, and friendliness of the staff at this hotel is the best I’ve had so far, and is definitely deserving of 5 Stars.

This was my third or fourth visit to the Netherland Hilton and I grow to love it more every time. The Art Deco décor is just marvelous here and I can only recall one other hotel that continues to capture that atmosphere. On this trip the dining room was closed for remodeling so i didn’t get a chance to eat here but previous dining has always been a pleasant experience.
Add to this that the hotel is walking distance to everything in Cincinnati and you have a prime location for short stays or conferences as well. Long stays and residencies may make you feel like YOU are Gatsby (not that there is anything wrong with that).
A special thanks to front desk attendant Asia who gave me helpful tip that saved me a couple of dollars. Not a big deal, but she could have easily let me make a mistake but she corrected me and that’s top flight service. Hooray to you Asia.

** Handicap Room is Huge!
Check out the pic I took. If you moved some furniture around, you could fit 2 more queen beds in the extra empty space between the beds and the TV! I’m sure this is just because it’s a handicap room. From the hallway, you can see that the gap between the handicap room doors were much larger than the standard rooms.
**High Ceilings & Tall Windows
The little entry way probably has about an 8′ ceiling, but then when you walk into the main room, it’s about an 11′ ceiling! The windows go all the way to the ceiling, but they stop roughly 3′ from the floor, so it’s a nice tall window. I have 2 of them in the handicap room. My view is just the roof below and the building over, but on a higher floor facing a different way, I’ll bet the view is awesome!
** Outlets Where They Count
There’s 1 on the desk (part of the lamp), and 1 below the desk. At the bed, there’s 1 in each bed’s lamp, plus there’s a charging station in the middle, so there’s 4 by the beds… where you’d expect to have outlets!
** Charging Station
The charging station accounts for 2 of the outlets, but it also has 2 USBs that you can use to charge phones too! I absolutely love it when hotels include these!
** Reading Lights
There’s a little flexible neck reading light by each bed next to the lights in between the beds. If you’re on the wall or window edges, then I hope you’re not into reading at night! I love reading lights… although, for me, they promote very long nights and very sleepy mornings.
CONS
** A/​C Blows Straight @ The Desk User
The person sitting at the desk is hit point blank with all the A/​C (or heating) air. I hate when hotels don’t consider this. The rest of the room may be getting kind of warm or cool, but the guy at the desk will always be burning up or freezing. Not only do other guests suffer (because the room might be getting too warm/​cool), but the air on the face is a bit annoying for the person at the desk.
