History

Established in 1956.

Madeira Optical was founded by Dr. Larry Spitz in 1956 as a community-based family optometry practice. In 2003, Dr. Malinda Pence purchased and modernized the practice. After five decades in the same building, in 2012 Dr. Pence moved Madeira Optical around the corner to a larger location that could accommodate new state-of-the-art optometric equipment, an expanded optical shop and a dedicated contact lens room.

Dr. Jennifer Kritzer joined the practice in 2012 after 14 years at a Kenwood area Ophthalmology practice. Dr. Cheryl Adams joined in 2013 with extensive experience working with pediatric patients. Madeira Optical is in it’s sixth decade of community-based multi-generational eye care serving Madeira, Montgomery, Mariemont, Indian Hill and surrounding communities.
