Very rude waitress. We got seated without menu. Left unattended for more than 10mins. Asked for a menu and got replied«I’m busy!!» We left this place without ordering. Do they think customers drop money to a rule place like this?

Stopped here while traveling through the city. It was a basic visit. Went in and was greeted nicely and seated immediately. Waiter was nice. Got our food fast. Food was great. Checkout person was nice and talkative. Overall, basic steak and shake, good service. I will note that it was probably only about 7 people in the place. Not sure if it was crowded for the other reviewers. I would eat here again.

I came here for breakfast since I needed to kill some time while I waited for my friend. I decided to try their California skillet which was scramble eggs with chicken and cheddar cheese, hash browns and a biscuit. I have to say it was really good and a large portion. I really enjoyed my meal but couldn’t finish it all. The employees were really nice and they were pretty busy.

I don’t often eat at Steak ‘n Shake even though I like some of their food. As a matter of fact, it was 2 years between my last two visits because of not having a positive experience. I’m not sure if it is management or poor training. 2 years ago my son and I went inside and just wanted one of their delicious shakes. After asking for 3 different shakes and being told that they couldn’t make them, we were frustrated. Finally, one of them let us know that a bus full of people were there. I would think that someone should have said that in the first place and apologize for being out of certain ingredients. They could have told us which ones they would be able to make instead of having us guess. On our most recent visit it seemed that they were really understaffed so service was slow. No wonder nobody seems to smile in that place.

The service is horrible and the cook is a smart ass punk. I go in to order lunch for my crew during 3rd shift. These guys say I should have called to get it quicker. I nearly showed him my phone where I called and no one answered.

I really don’t like posting negative reviews. An establishment has to earn it with me. Most of the time, I just let it go. Well, Steak and Shake at this location earned it. I have eaten at Steak and Shake over the years at other locations and it was fine. This time was different. We walked into the restaurant on a Sunday afternoon around 2:45 and sat at the counter. The place was about half full. The manager had seen us sit down at the counter as he was helping the grill cook. No acknowledgement. At least 4 – 5 servers passed in front of us — no acknowledgement whatsoever. Assistant manager — yep — nothing. We had sat now for about 15 – 20 minutes. Servers were chatting over by the prep area. After the manager disappeared the grill cook cleared his grill, he appeared to be going on his break. He asked us now if we have been helped yet. I said no. He ask a server if she could wait on us. Her replay was«I’ll get there when I can». Again, the restaurant was not busy. At this point, I said«Never Mind» and walked out, first time in my life. Did I mention food and what looked like garbage on the floor in the food prep area. Hope this a location problem.

No matter which Steak ‘n Shake I go to the service will always remain the same. Horrible. Foods always pretty good for the price but they get u with the 5 dollar milkshake that costs more than my meal. Don’t come here unless u have an hour to kill

I too would choose no stars. Waited 10 minutes to be seated, 15 to take order. Plenty of help in the house, half of the tables empty(yet dirty) should have been a sign. Half of our order never came. This wasn’t carry out or drivethru. Even when reminded, I was told they were having problems. Kind of hard to tell the kids they won’t be eating because someone won’t do their job! I think mismanagement is the problem…

If I could give this place no stars, I would. I was in there a few minutes ago. Given, it’s a Saturday… but, they were fully staffed, half the tables in the place were empty, they’re we’re people on the staff standing around staring at people. We were sat, and then not acknowledges for 15 minutes. In that time I heard person stories from the staff and someone in the back screaming that they didn’t have any silverware or ice. Just a pathetic overall experience by a location that I have no doubts I’ll ever go back to. Steak and shake is really hit or miss whatever location you go to… This is, by far, the worst I’ve been to yet.

I went to this Steak n Shake and ordered my food on the inside, and I realize now that at this location, you should never do that. When I walked in, there was a group of people standing at the back of the dining room, just hanging out. They all watched me walk in, I even made eye contact with a couple of them, and they went back to their carousing. I noticed one young woman throw a glance in my direction every other minute, but she never bothered to do anything like work. I had been standing there for nearly 6 minutes and there was a couple who walked in after me and stood waiting for a while, but they left. ONLYWHENTHEYLEFT did the girl from before come over and take my order. She said, «Has anyone taken your order yet?» I couldn’t help but look at her incredulously because she had to have KNOWN nobody took my order. The only reason I didn’t leave behind the couple was because the young man who WAS working offered to take my order, and he was manning both the grill and the drive thru! Make no mistakes– this place was most definitely NOT understaffed. There seemed to be more workers than customers on this night, although I can only attest to what I saw in the dining room and not the drive thru. Up near the cash register they have these cards that say«Let us know how we’re doing!» and I thought to myself, I will. So I took a card and did the online survey when I got home. Much to my surprise, a representative from Steak n Shake called me a couple of days later to apologize for his employees’ behavior. That was pretty cool, and that was the reason that raised this from a one star review to a two star review. I do not think, however, that I will return to this location, and I do not recommend that you do either.

After eating at Steak N Shake after about four years… My wife and I now remember why we quit going there. We forgot how greasy the food was, and since we were not there after a late night of drinking. Greasy food is not what we were looking for.

If Steak & Shake wasn’t open 24hrs, I’d have avoided this place in the later hours. It used to be pretty good…& to clarify, it still is kinda decent during the day… but my most recent visit was disappointing. Service took forever, & was ridiculously bad… something about a terribly rude staff that I just don’t like. Things were so terrible here(on this specific visit), that I’m now restricting myself to using the drive-thru at this location… despite the fact that they have a terrible tendency to forget ordered items in the bag. So, yea… if you’d like a drive-thru milkshake, this is the place to go. (Just don’t expect anything more than that to pan out well.)

I have been an avid S&S eater ever since I was younger and I know exactly what I’m getting each time. This location definitely needs some faster service, even though it was kind of busy the staff was moving at a snails’ pace. The food was wonderful as usual, but a sense of urgency was missing from the staff. I’ll only eat here if I have time. :(
