History

Established in 1984.

Originally started as Young’s Mobile Home Service, specializing in mobile home heating and air conditioning. Branched out into the residential and light commercial market in 2004 as Young’s Htg. & A/​C, Inc. Derek started in this trade in 1977 as a second generation heating and A/​C tech and now have both his sons in the trade. The oldest son, Benjamin is now managing the business, and his younger brother Tristan is a service tech. Derek’s daughter Marisa runs the office 5 days a week. Derek still goes out when needed during the busy seasons.

California born and raised since 1983. Over 12 years of marriage to my beautiful wife, Rachel. We have two children, Hayden and Henry. I love what I do and can’t see myself doing anything else.

Inherited the business from my father, Derek, which many in the greater Sacramento area have known for years for his HVAC know-​how, and his quirky wit.

I look forward to helping anyone who needs to be cool in the summer, and cozy warm in the winter.

Absolutely amazing! From get go everyone has been there for us. Our furnace was not turning on and ac was leaking, we received a quote from other company but we did not like the other company. Thank God I found youngs! Benjamin came out right away, fixed it temporary and explained solutions to us. No sales pitch, just honest and wants to help and save you money. We decided to go with a new furnace and ac, smooth process! The installer Tyler is amazing! Knowledgeable, friendly, professional, respectful!
I have a little baby boy and when he asked me how long he needs to nap cause he doesn’t want to wake him with the noise he will be making, Amazing is all I have to say. He left our home clean as if we had no installer here. We are so excited to have heat that runs efficiently. Highly recommend them!

I am very impressed with Young’s Heating & Air Conditiong. Benjamin came out and investigated some stains on my roof that I assumed were due to an AC/​HVAC issue. He was honest, didn’t rush me, and discussed all my concerns. It turns out it wasn’t an AC issue at all. Its the roof that needs works. A roofing company had already told me the roof was fine. Benjamin helped me see right where the problem was. Now I am now very interested in the HVAC system and 2x a year cleaning and program.

This company has a customer for life! They literally saved me $ 1,400-$ 1,900! I wanted 3 estimates for a broken wall heater in my duplex. The first two companies I sent out both told me the unit was beyond repair and needed to be completely replaced. Young’s went out there the day I called them to take a look. (read as prompt service!) He was able to repair it. He repaired it so quickly and didn’t even want payment since it was such a simple fix. As a property owner who knows nothing about wires in a wall heater, this was huge. I can’t thank them enough. It’s nice to know that there are honest professionals out there that care more about a loyal client base then making as much money out of people by selling them full replacements they don’t need. I highly recommend them!

The A/​C at my parent’s home was not cooling. I had called another company for an estimate and after describing the problem, I was told I would have to replace the unit. After reading the great reviews, I called Young’s and was given a 2 hour window (instead of the four by the other company), which I thought was another form of great customer service. Tristan arrived within the window and all the unit needed was a change in the filter. He checked the unit and said it was still operating great. Tristan was very professional and knowledgeable. I also received the 10% discount for mentioning Unilocal.I highly recommend this company. This family will be calling them back for any future needs.

July 2015 Update: We had our A/​C stop working right in the middle of a heat wave. Classic! Started with our Home Warranty company, but felt we were being given a high out-​of-​pocket quote by the covered contractor. We got quotes from a few other companies, Young’s included, and ended up getting cash out from the home warranty company and used Young’s. Get this, we also ended up saving a good amount of money by going this way! From the get-​go, Young’s stood out as a very solid and professional company. We really liked the «no surprises» guarantee, and they totally stood by it. We paid exactly the amount quoted, no surprises, even though they had to do a few extra things to situate a new furnace in the gap left by our monstrous 1968 furnace. They were extremely prompt, and did EXACTLY what they said they would do. The house was clean each day when they left, I didn’t have to go out and clean up coke cans and garbage, which so often is left behind by contractors. Thank you, Young’s, for being a company that stands by your word, and delivers a quality product, installed by quality people. We were 100% satisfied with our experience and recommend Young’s any time a friend asks about HVAC.

You can tell a lot about a company’s customer service when one of their company trucks will speed up and almost run you off the road versus allow you to merge on the freeway in front of them. This just happened to me. And the driver even looked over at me as he passed. I gunned the gas peddle to get in with room in front of him and he went even faster to keep me from getting in. I had to go to the shoulder to keep him from hitting me. Not cool…
Driver safety training would be in order.

got my AC fixed today, very honest and professional, the technician replaces the capacitor, AC starts to work again. He also checks the other components, the refrigerant level is good, compressor is good, the motor is running near the limits. All the information will be helpful, if AC breaks down again, I will know where to look at … Thanks a lot

I am very surprised with the service from this company since I picked them based on their great Unilocal reviews but I was very disappointed. I wanted to get an estimate on my house to zone my heating and a/​c. I wanted to get at least three estimates and the other two companies I contacted provided estimates promptly. When I called Young’s, the tech came by on time and looked in my attic. He mentioned that he was not as familiar with zoning as his son so he would send him pictures of my heating and air unit and either his son will call me or they will email me an estimate. He did mention that he had a doctor’s appointment that day so there might be a delay. He seemed very nice so I wasn’t concerned. This was on 6÷24÷15. A week later, no response so I call them on 6÷30÷15 and a nice woman told me she would give them my message and they would contact me. Another week goes by and I call again on 7÷7÷15. Same thing, I called, the woman apologized and said one of the guys will contact me. For the third time, I had waited two weeks and called on 7÷21÷15. No one picked up so I left a voicemail. I even mentioned that I had found them through Unilocal.As of today, no response.
I have never left a one-​star review and I am just very confused on how a company can be rated so highly but have such poor service.

When the hottest day of the year in Elk Grove graced us with it’s presence other day, our air conditioner at the house decided to take a dump on us. Outstanding! It wasn’t until the late afternoon that we realized it wasn’t working properly. Time to get an a/​c tech out to the house ASAP. I called 4 different businesses with no luck, all of them telling me that because of the scorching heat outside they were all booked up with appointments through the weekend. When I called Young’s Heating and Air, I was told the same thing, booked solid until 2 – 3 days from now. I sighed, and Marissa on the other end of the line must’ve felt my pain. She told me «Hold on, let me see what I can do.» She called me back within 15 minutes and informed me that they can have someone out by the next morning. When the technician came out the next day he was very quick to diagnose the problem and had the unit up and running within 20 minutes. I’m not sure how fair the price of labor and parts were being that we had not gotten any quotes from anyone else to compare it to. Overall though I would recommend their service and I would hire them again should I have any other problems in the future.

My heater went out last winter. The first company I was able to get out quoted me a hefty price to replace the CPU (that was less than two years old) or to install an entirely new system. Wanting a second opinion, a friend referred me to Young’s. The owner himself came out and discovered that a piece of insulation was out of place and was partially blocking the intake causing the unit to shut itself off as a safety measure. I was only charged for the service call and NOT sold on things I didn’t need. LOVE these guys!

Courteous and professional. But most of all honest. Had my units checked over after recently purchasing an older home and just wanted to make sure they were in tip top shape before summer hit. Washed my filter for me and explained to me how to keep my system running it’s best. Very considerate about walking in the house and threw booties on. Didn’t even need to ask. I need someone to educate me on how things work so I thoroughly understand how to maintain it and why. Very knowledgeable. Would not hesitate to recommend this business to anyone in the future and will use Young’s in the future if need be and definitely will use for routine maintenance.

Ben came by for the appointment that I had made for our smart vent system not working properly. He did a diagnosis and told me the problem within 5 mins. Gave me two options and was very honest. Thank you Unilocal!My a/​c has been on the fritz for a couple years now. I managed to get it working just to get the thru last summer and then I forgot about it. This summer hit and my a/​c was done. It didn’t kick over no matter what I did.
After dreading the thought of having the a/​c looked at I came to Unilocal to research companies. The first company I contacted would not do the job as it was a one man business that couldn’t handle the job. Odd, but their loss. Back to Unilocal and I found Young’s. I contacted them, explained the issues, the repairs I did, and what I have been told that possibly could be wrong. No problem for them and they will send someone over the next day.
Day 1… Ben and Tristan arrive. I explained the repairs I did, and what the system was doing. They looked at my system, showed me things that are the issue and laid out my options. Once that was decided they left and the parts were ordered and estimate emailed to me. I did ask if it was better to replace the system and they informed me mine still had life in in so no need to go that route. Good news for me and I like the honesty.
Day 2… Chris arrived. I gave him the summary of Ben and Tristan’s visit which he already knew. Nice! Chris got right to work and explained the repairs to me as he went along. 3.5 hours later we had a/​c!!!
In summary I could not have had a better experience. Chris told me things I can do to help the system last longer and gave me little tips here and there. Price was reasonable for the amount of work done. I will definitely use Young’s for future services and highly recommend them to anyone needing a/​c repair or tune up. Thank you to the Young family for making a dreadful situation a pleasant one… and my Boxer thanks you too!

As a new property manager I needed my own «go to» repair companies. I looked on Unilocal to get some ideas. Young’s had the best reviews overall. We’d had a horrible experience w/​another company several months ago, and $ 2,000 later, the central heat/​air was still not working properly! Young’s sent two repair people out – on time – and were the BEST! They explained everything they were doing, what needed to be done, and offered helpful money saving tips!
