The Valley Bar & Grill

I remember the Valley Inn as a BBQ joint in Clarence that wasn’t half bad. Seems as though BBQ is no longer their focus in place of a bar food menu.
Not a huge fan of the fact that we had to walk through a large bar area, where plenty of patrons were getting their happy hour drink on, to get into the dining area. Once inside everything seemed dark and creaky and just weird in general. So the ambiance (or lack there of) was not my favorite.
We ordered the hot pepper dip to start. It was actually a huge portion and really tasty — was served with garlic bread pieces. The dip was spicy too!
I ordered the roast beef dinner– sliced roast beef over bread with mashed potatoes, covered in gravy. It was okay. The beef was good, the potatoes were good, but the gravy had an odd flavor. Tasted like maybe it’s a red wine gravy… Didn’t love it but I ate it. The veggies on the side were not that great– had a vinegar taste and looked old. And the side salad I got was all old lettuce. Not appetizing.
Overall, this place was okay. Wouldn’t come here often, but I didn’t totally dislike it. I’d give 2.5 stars if I could, but I rounded up to 3 because it’s the first time I’ve eaten here in a long time and I think it’s under new ownership.
