So here is out expensive little story.
After fighting to keep the pilot light lit on our 35 year old furnace, I eventually caved and called the professionals. The tech was nice, on time, and explained everything. Guess what, it is new furnace time. Okay then. The heat exchanger is pretty much rusted out. While poking around in there, he tells me coil for the AC is also a little rough, and we should consider replacing it now while the work on the furnace is being done to save expenses later (so when the day comes, they don’t need to tear down the furnace to install the coil). What the coil does, is attaches to the outdoor AC compressor, and puts nice cold copper pipes for the central air to blow air over and cool the home. It is separate from the furnace, but handles the «cold» part of the central air.
Okay, so I bite. Seems like a good idea to me. Tech seams honest and is answering my questions. A few days and $ 4,000 bucks later (furnace and new coil) Green Home is over, and new unit is in. The house is toasty and warm. Great.
Fast forward to spring. It is finally getting hot in Cleveland! But it’s a little too hot at our house. I go to fiddle with the AC, and I get nothing. I go to look at my fancy new coil in the basement, and surprise, surprise, it is not hooked up. That would explain the problem. The coil was installed, attached to the outside AC compressor. So, keep reading, because here comes the real kicker.
I ask GHS to come out and finish the job on the coil, and guess what guys! NEW AC COMPRESSOR TIME! The coil they had installed in not compatible with the AC compressor I had out back. This is a $ 3,000 dollar problem. I guess the issue is with the old now illegal Freon gases my old AC compressor used. At no point did anyone at GHS tell me that installing a new coil ($ 300 bucks) pretty much guaranteed me that I would be spending $ 3,000 in the spring. Had I known this, I would have rolled the dice on the old coil and left it in there (having just spent $ 3,600 on the furnace). I expressed my anger and got 100 off my brand new AC compressor from them. According to my distant Texan HVAC workin cousin, there is a work around for this issue, but I didn’t want to learn more. I already spent the money and didn’t want to feel worse about it. Having a house that is freezing or boiling hot doesn’t really allow time to educate one’s self on the finer points of residential HVAC systems.
So, I am not sure if this was a brilliant scam not telling the customer they are being set up for a 3,000 dollar purchase come summer, or a gross oversight installing equipment that will render a perfectly function AC compressor worthless. Either way, I can’t say I trust this company.
TL:DR: Tried to be smart and install new ac coil with the new furnace. Being «smart» cost me an additional $ 3,000 dollars when the dog days of summer came to pass.

I want to write to thank you and the employees of your firm for an excellent job. Your employees performed two services for me this year. The first was the removal of my hot water heater and replacing it with a tankless water unit, and the second was a complete tear out of two furnaces and an air conditioner, and the replacement of the units with a high efficiency heat pump/​furnace combination. Your staff also completely replaced the ductwork in my home. Your staff was friendly, courteous, thorough, and prompt. They stayed late in order to finish a difficult job, and did so with minimal disruption to our home. The home itself is more comfortable now, with fewer cold and hot areas, and the system is significantly less noisy. Also, I can take showers for as long as I want without running out of hot water.
I also wanted to share with you the savings I am experiencing, in the hopes that it may help you win some new clients. My total metered charges from July of 2013 through October of 2013 averaged $ 250 per month on electric bills due to air conditioner use. I kept the house at 70 degrees. This year, my average bill in July, August, September, and October was $ 110, and I kept my house two degrees cooler. This represents a savings of $ 560 per year on AC costs. I do not have data on heating costs yet, but will update this in the Spring.
Finally, I wanted to mention that I had a unique situation in which the equipment I received had a faulty part from the manufacturer. Sal’s quickly came out to diagnose the issue, ordered the replacement part, and repaired it all under warranty. Their quickness and responsiveness in an issue like this says volumes about their commitment to customer service.
I would highly recommend this company to those interested in having work done. Make sure to check for deals when they come up. Sal’s frequently offers savings on jobs through Angie’s list or other online promotions.

Also — cannot praise enough — tech John was polite, efficient and went the extra mile of driving out to Valley View to get a part for my gas powered, forced air heater. All this during one of the coldest winters ever!

I called this company because of the review about and they were right on. called them at 7:45 am and by 9:30 am my air conditioning system was back up and running smoothly, they are very professional right to work and very reasonable. if I have a/​c or heat problems kno one will touch my unit but this company! Its so hard to find good fair help but I trust these guys, check them out for yourself…

Far & away, THE VERY BEST home-​related service our family has EVER received, period. A previous HVAC provider (Cleveland Furnace) installed a new air conditioning unit about 4 – 5 years ago. The same provider (still Cleveland Furnace) subsequently returned & installed an evaporator for the unit which was attached to our furnace. It developed a leak which in turn led to all the frion in the air conditioner leaking out. No frion, no cool air. Assured us at the end of the summer (2012) that we would be «at the very top of his priority list».
May 2013 rolls around. Then mid-​May and early June. After 2 – 3 weeks of multiple polite but increasingly urgent calls, texts, no response. Meanwhile, it’s getting hotter & hotter & more & more humid. Finally, with elderly parents arriving & a party planned for the 2^nd weekend of June we have no choice but to find another HVAC provider.
This time I go on-​line & look for reviews (sorry, Unilocal,didn’t find them here) & picked Green Home Solutions…
The tech, Ted, was prompt, polite & professional. Since I wasn’t totally familiar with what appeared to be (& was) the problem, I had Ted speak with my husband on the phone. Between the 2 of them, the solution was determined & the repair was made.
The fee for the repair seemed quite fair — although the cost for him to refill the frion, ~$ 800, hurt (new EPA regs & a steep hike in new formula). Mind you — this was NOT Green Home’s fault (they didn’t cause the leak, but fixed it) — but it does underscore WHY you need to use a reliable HVAC Company to begin with. Not only did we not hear back from them, we had to foot the bill for their shoddy work (no leak, no need to pay to refill frion, let alone the repair)!
But wait! That’s not the best part! Stay with me now: Ted ended up having to come back a second time because the repair ended up setting up a chain reaction which led to water leaking all over the basement (long story). He arrived that afternoon & ended up calling a second tech to help but they got the job done. Ted did not leave our home until 9:00 p.m.
I now sit here cool as a cucumber on my couch. The party (& my parents) should be just fine next weekend. But I must say that I am simply BLOWN AWAY by Ted’s tenacity & total determination to get the job done. No excuses, no run around, no delays. Amazing service, phenomenal work ethic & we didn’t pay a single cent more.
That, my friends, deserves 10 stars… But Unilocal will only let me give ‘em 5!
